12. The Discharge

When I woke up the morning of discharge, my doctor had to make prescriptions for when I need my medicine at home. He sent it to my pharmacy so we can pick it up before we arrive home.

Alaina decided to ask her mom if she can come home with me for a few days just to keep an eye on me. Her mother agreed and left a few minutes after. I had to be rolled out in a wheelchair and the doctor told Alaina to keep me in bed. He also said if I happen to need to go somewhere for any reason to sit me down gently in a wheelchair. She nodded as she helped him get me into the car. She then waved him goodbye and buckled my seatbelt.

I slightly chuckled, "You know you didn't have to do that... right?" She just smiled and shut the door. When she opened the door next to the seat beside me, she whispered, "I just wanted to spoil you, that's all." I grinned and my mom started driving as she buckled her seat belt.

Staring out the window made me tired. Once we arrived home, I quickly fell asleep on the bed. I heard Alaina chuckle and say, "good night." Before I doze off.

I woke up to Alaina's voice. "Baby wake up. It's time to eat lunch." As I stirred awake, I twisted and turned. When my eyes flew open, I saw her staring down at me with a smile. "Good morning, my love. What would you like for lunch?" She asks and I think. "Hmmm.. grilled cheese?" I finally ask and she nods, "Okay."

I follow her into the kitchen. She takes out a pan and I watch her as she cooks. I walk over to her and put my hands around her waist which makes her chuckle. I then whisper, "Make it nice and crispy." She nods as I back away, heading towards the dinner table.

A few minutes later, she walks over and places my plate onto the table. "Thank you, darling." I tell her as I pick up my grilled cheese to take a bite. "You're welcome baby." She says as I bite down, gooey cheese filling my mouth. As I swallow, she says, "You can rest today. Tomorrow, however, I'm going to have to bring you to the store with me because I'm afraid to leave you alone." I nod in understanding and she walks out of the room, letting me finish my grilled cheese.

I roll over to the trash can to throw away my trash and paper plate. Then I head to the living room. Alaina was waiting in there for me watching "Surfs Up". I smile, "I love this movie!" She looks over to me and says, "Do you want to watch it?" I nod and roll over near her.

She pats the cushion beside her and I smile, scooting over to the couch and carefully sitting down next to her. She kisses my cheek as we start to watch Cody, the surfing penguin.

When the movie is over, I carefully get up and sit down on my wheelchair. "Would you like for me to help you?" Alaina asks and I nod, "Yes please." She then gets up and starts strolling me near our bedroom. She strolls me to the bed and stops to help me get onto it. "Thank you." I say as I settle down. She nods, "Anything for my baby."

She kisses me once more and gets up to get my medicine. "Before you fall asleep, you should take your medicine." She says right before she leaves. I nod and wait for her to get back, my eyes dropping ever so often.

She comes back with a water bottle and my medicine. I sit up with her help and I take the bottle and medicine from her hands. I pop them into my mouth and take a sip of water. She takes the bottle and turns off the lights as I swallow. "I'll be right back, baby. I'm going to put away the water." She tells me and leaves.

I'm about half asleep as she lays down beside me. "Good night, baby. Love you." She whispers as she kisses my forehead. I shiver as my stomach fills with butterflies. I reply, "I love you too." I then move closer to her and fall asleep as we cuddle.

SORRY FOR THE LONG WAIT AND SHORT CHAPTER!
