The aftermath

Swoosh!

The arrow was launched from his bow, leaving some small gushing of winds as it made its way to its target, the neck of the enemy, "God! I hope this hit!"

He prayed to the god for a short time and it was as God allowed the arrow to hit its target, probably it's because of Aiden's skill but yea. Anyway, as expected, the arrow hit right in the neck of the decorated enemy leader that instantly fell to the ground.

The surrounding guard around the dead man noticed and rushed right toward him, Aiden shouted to Mike and the others behind, "Mike! It's done! Now push our way toward safety!"

With heavy panting, Mike and Aiden fell to the ground, they too suddenly smiled, "Well, Aiden! That was great of you to shoot the enemy and killed him instantly since we retreated to the safety, I heard that the enemy leader was dead or something!"

Suddenly, without Aiden even responding to Mike's words, Sir John slowly approached them and sat right beside Aiden with his armour still covered in blood, "Aiden and Mike, I saw your action just now, killing the enemy leader really is a great feat!"

Aiden smiled and nodded as he continued to see the sky, "Today's going to rain and the battle will be over soon… I pity those who will clean off the corpse on the battlefield, it will smell very bad..."

Sir John nodded and opened his glove before extending his arm out. A droplet fell on his hand, "Well… it looks like Aiden are correct, better get on your tent! Also, once we got back to the city of Criton, I will make sure to reward you as a war hero!"

The next day

"Uhh! What is this smell?" The men were gathered about 100 metres from the battlefield which was littered with corpses. But even when they stood that far, they still could feel the nasty smell hitting their noses.

Sir John covered his nose with his hand as he slowly walked in front of the formation and shouted, "Today! This day! We finished our last battle against the barbarian! From today onward, or children, grandchildren and successor will live peacefully and will not be touched by the barbarians from the north! Now, let's leave this place, it really stinks!"

"For your merit, Aiden, killing the enemy leader, the head of the army which was one of the main factors of our victories, I hereby give you a medal and some gold coins!" Sir John has his hand extended toward Aiden that was slightly hiding his smile at that moment as he took the reward.

"And for your merit, Mike, assisting and helping many people, including Aiden in the battlefield, I will award you a gold medal and some gold coins," Mike bowed to Sir John before accepting his rewards.

All of a sudden, Sir John turned to Aiden and said, "Aiden, I apologize, but there is something me and Mike need to talk about. Mike will probably tell you later but still, I need to send you out of the room"

Aiden nodded and bowed before making his way to the door and eventually out of the castle, "Well, it doesn't really involve me, why should I care? It's more important that I decide what to do!"

He got on his inn and laid on his bed, "So, I need to do the report to Oliver about cursing that girl and also… oh yea, that war quest, I never got any notifications so I think I need to report to Oliver about that too… then the next… finding the person I truly love… Ava"

He blushed, and all of a sudden, Mike entered the room with a happy face. He closed the door, sat on the bed, "Hey Aiden! Do you know what Sir John offered to me? He said I'm the perfect kind of person to be a true, righteous knight! The ceremony is in 5 days!"

Aiden looked toward him, "You ruine- Sigh… ignore that. Anyway, it seems that I can't attend the ceremony, I'm planning on returning to the village as fast as I could, there's someone I need to talk to, I'm sorry"

Mike saddened, "It's not a problem… but it seems like I'm not returning to the village. Sir John said he will provide accommodation for me and my family. Please help me with delivering a message to them and safely bring them here!"

"HEY! OLIVER!" Aiden shouted as he was standing right in front of the house of the master archer, Oliver. Soon enough, the door opened, and the man revealed himself, yawning and rubbing his eyes, "What is it, c*nt?"

His small, sleepy eyes suddenly widen, he placed his hand on the 18-year-old shoulder and smiled, "Ahahah! My mate! So ya didn't die out there! Was so worried for ya that I can't sleep!"

Aiden looked at him and knew it was just a lie, "D*ckhead! You said you can't sleep and here you are, looking half-awake like you were just sleeping a few seconds ago! Anyway, I did your request!"
