Shoo...shoo...go over there

***Dondon POV***

[Phew. He really went wild.] Thinking about the captain's temper, I can't blame him, that hob was really pushy and I would want to really skin him alive if he went after me like that.

Now, I am in charge of of my own motley group here.

The first thing to come into my attention was not the three orclings who can be considered as what would keep this group together but the two little goblins who were not heading towards the captain's direction. Most goblins are simple-minded, you know? They'd rather go with someone who they know is strong rather than some unknown guy.

[They'll be able to live longer like that.] I think these two goblins are smarter than the others as they immediately discerned the personality of the captain.

"Alright folks! We haven't got all morning. Our formation would prioritize the ones with longer reach to strike at the dogs while the fence is still intact and if the fence gets broken, those who specialize in close combat will go to the front first and those with longer reach will support them." I told these people the plan so that they won't get confused later.

Choosing this formation was partly due to having a third of the people here, carrying polearm weapons, slings and bows with most of them likely being in pairs of a melee and mid-ranger. And it looks like those who went to me are either people who came here in pairs or wanderers who are traveling alone.

"Our group will be in charge of the right side as the ones already there will reinforce the left side, once we arrive. The captain will be in charge of the gate so you guys don't need to worry about that area." Upon hearing that they won't go to possibly the riskiest area, many of them breathed sighs of relief.

"This'll be your last chance to prepare, so tie whatever you want to tie or hook whatever you want to secure as you got no time to be distracted at the battlefield later." Everyone patted their bodies and did as told. I also fastened the belt slung over my shoulder a second time just to be sure.

"Well, let's go." The other group was also done with their briefing and went ahead to the gate while I lead my group to the right whilst lightly jogging.

"Oi, watch your left!" "Got it!" "Bob, the reinforcement's here!" "Alright when they are in position we'll go to the other side."

Seeing us arrive, the small group of hobs and goblins defending the fence, prepared themselves to go to the left side of the compound. When we arrived at their positions they immediately backed off from the fence.

"Men, do as we planned!" Following my orders the few spearmen, slingers and archers in our group immediately started to slaughter the dogs biting the fence or digging the ground.

"Hey Don, careful not to go too near the fence. We saw an alpha a while ago try and snap one of my goblin's hands. He roams around back and forth from here to the left side though so you just gotta be careful." When I crossed paths with Bob, the one in-charge of this side, he immediately cautioned me of what to look out for.

"Gotcha Bob, hurry to the left, Gam is having a trouble maintaining the balance there, last time I heard." Wishing Bob well, I focused back to the fence while commanding the goblins and hobs. Sometimes, I also throw one of the daggers kept in my shoulder belt when one of them looks to be in trouble.

***MC POV***

*Growl* *GRRrrr* *Grruu*

Several dogs were growling in front of me and when one of them lunged at the fence I also timed my spear to attack in its way.

*puk*

The sound of metal piercing flesh was mixed in the cacophony of the battlefield. Backing away from the fence was the dog that lunged towards me but now a part of its cheek up till the neck was torn and quite a lot of its blood was dripping. A little later, it was lying on the ground probably from having lost too much blood.

When I first saw the situation at the fence, I thought that it would be impossible to defend against that many dogs. There were around 200 of them, maybe more and just by looking at how they are lined up side by side, you would get goosebumps if you were to encounter them randomly in an open field.

*whoosh* *puk*

The other two dogs saw that I was still in the process of recovering from my spear attack earlier and immediately jumped towards the fence to break it off. Bad thing for them that I was just feinting. In the process of retrieving my spear, I step forward with my right foot and extend my body towards one of the dogs in full strength.

*whimper* *Growl*

Seeing that its companion had died from having 1/4 of my spear lodged in its head. The dog immediately bit at the wooden body of the spear in an attempt to wrestle it away from me. Seeing that happen, 2nd immediately rushed and extended his fist towards one of the larger openings in the wire fence, punching the head of the dog who bit my spear with his pointed metal knuckles.

*Whimper*

While the dog was still dazed from 2nd's attack, I quickly retrieved and stabbed my spear at its neck, opening a huge gash that flowed with quite an amount of blood. Having seen that a few dogs in our area were down, more dogs ran and took their place.

*Woof* *Grrr* *Gruuu* *Rawr*

The scenes earlier were repeating everywhere on this side of the fence. Whether they are holding swords, slings or bows, they try and pile as much damage as they can on the dogs to deter them from breaking the fence or digging on the ground.

Looking at it closely, the group who were stationed earlier were quite good as they were able to keep these dogs off even with a smaller amount of people.

*puk* *whimper*

*Drip* *drip*

*Grrr* *Gruur*

For around half an hour, I was just mindlessly stabbing at the gaps in the fence where the dogs would try to widen. Some of them will stick their head in the larger gaps while others would just bite and pull.

This monotonous activity suddenly got my brain cells thinking,

[What could they want from this place that they are so desperately trying to get in.]

After all, so many of them came to attack and from how many angles I think, nothing comes to mind on why they attack other than food...

[or maybe...a rescue?]

It was at that time that a large shadowy figure quickly appeared by the side of the fence.

*ROOAR*

"AHHHH!!! HELLPPppp!!!" One of the goblins who had gotten to close to the fence got dragged by that large figure who made quite a big hole. A few dogs who were sticking in their heads bit at the body of the goblin. After around two breaths of time, the goblin wasn't struggling anymore.

*thud* *Grrr* *GRruuu*

With the goblin falling down pathetically, the large figure of a dog came into view. Looking at its majestic fur though, it should be called more of a wolf than a mere dog, At that time it dawned to me...

"THEEEE...ALPHA'S...HEREEE!!!" Shouting as loud as I can, I try to gain more attention from the others while trying to sneakily distance myself from where the alpha is.

[Freaking dog! Why are you here?? Shoo shoo go bother someone else] I thought irritatingly.
