KINGS AND TITLES

"You're Majesty, your brother is here." A servant spoke up to the young king who was seated in his study.

"Soren?" The King asked.

"Yes." The servant replied.

"I'll be there in a minute." Sian said and dismissed the servant as he got up from his seat.

He readied himself by rearranging the collar of his coat and he regally walked out of the room that had once belonged to his father.

It had been months since his father's untimely demise and Sian was still adjusting to his new role as Sovereign of Endra.

He walked out and was accompanied by a group of guards certain enough where his guests were waiting for him.

The sooner the doors into the ballroom were flung open, Sian strode in only to his surprise, his mother had beat him to it.

"Mother?" He called to the Queen Dowager.

"Yes Dear." The Queen Dowager said as she turned around and curtsied as her position demanded.

"Your Majesty." Sian said as he curtsied as well and his husband who apparently his brother disliked only bowed his head.

"You came?" Sian said.

"A little bit later than expected, I apologize your Majesty." Soren said.

"No need brother, at least you are here." Sian said with a smile.

"And I am surprised not alone at this time." He added as he turned to look at Conelm.

"Things are actually much better between the both of us." Soren said.

"You don't have to pretend that they actually are, drop that charade brother." Sian said.

"This is no charade." Soren said.

"I have a hard time believing that, it looks like his highness was finally convicted to act up to his title of husbandry." Sian said.

"Don't start that here Sian." The Queen dowager said.

"I am just curious and unable to shake the fact that he didn't turn up for the funeral of his father-in-law." Sian said.

"Let us just be happy for the time being that I am here and cast our differences aside your majesty." Conelm finally spoke.

"As my husband says, I stand with him your Majesty." Soren replied as he curtsied.

"Can I have a word with you privately?" Sian asked.

Soren first turned to look at Conelm.

"I wouldn't actually mind if he stole you for a while, it is a family reunion after all." Conelm replied.

"Alright." Soren replied.

Sian offered his left hand and Soren took it hesitantly as the two started to walk hand in hand.

"So what is with you right now?" Sian asked as they left.

In the mean time, the Queen Mother took hold of her son-in-law and walked away with him.

"I am fine at least happy these past couple of days." Soren replied.

"That is too good to hear." Sian said.

"What is it that you wanted to talk to me about?" Soren asked.

"Well, it is about my coronation." Sian replied.

"Your coronation, what about it?" Soren asked.

"As you are aware, all Princes of the blood are to pay homage to the King, that includes you." Sian said.

"Of course I am well aware about that." Soren said.

"But I can not say the same for your husband." Sian said.

"Why?" Soren asked.

"You must take your place with Sabrina and unfortunately, your husband shall attend more as a significant guest and not a peer." Sian said.

"But he wouldn't mind anything at all." Soren said.

"I am surprised that you trust him after every thing that he has done to you." Sian said.

"Please for my sake at least don't make trouble with him." Soren pleaded.

"That is the hardest thing any one has ever asked me." Sian said.

"It is for your brother-in-law." Soren said.

"Whom I do not like at all." Sian openly said.

"But I love him either way, he has grown to be a more understanding husband." Soren said.

"Believable only because at least he bothered to come with you this time but I can't trust him just yet." Sian said.

"You don't have to." Soren said.

"Why?" Sian asked.

"You are my brother." He added.

"The fact that I trust him is enough." Soren replied with a smile.

"It is up to you then, I already prepared what you shall wear on my coronation." Sian said.

"Always a good brother." Soren said.

"I knew you weren't the type to really fancy dresses so I got you something a little bit lighter." Sian said.

"I am sure I shall love it." Soren said.

The two siblings then parted ways and Soren immediately went to his own chambers.

Once there, he found Conelm seated at his old table and reading a book.

"Since when is my husband a fan of books?" Soren asked and in a nick of time captured Conelm's attention.

"This is no ordinary book, just my dearest's old notebook." Conelm replied.

"Really?" Soren asked as he walked closer to see the small book.

"I can't believe it when I saw his scarlet orbs, they burned with everlasting zeal yet at the same moment so calm.

He was as dead silent as a graveyard but the aura around him was unimaginably wonderful.

Yet I still can't help but wonder why of all people such a very strong and respectable man had to fall for a boy like me." Conelm read that aloud for Soren to hear.

"First impression lasts for a lifetime and also feels best remembered when noted down." Soren replied.

"For a birthday boy back then, you must have been too surprised." Conelm said.

"I was." Soren admitted.

"But eventually if I may ask, what was that feeling afterwards?" Conelm asked.

"You know it better than any other man so I would simply just leave you to get it." Soren replied folding his arms.

"Alright, what then did you talk about with your brother?" Conelm asked.

"His coronation." Soren replied.

"And?" Conelm asked.

"He is not yet ready to have you included but at least you are invited though I shall have to sit with Sabrina." Soren replied.

"Oh!" Conelm exclaimed.

"But I can ask for a change and give up just to be with you if you are not alright with the whole idea of you exclusive." Soren said.

"There is no need for you to worry about me, I shall certainly be fine." Conelm said with an assuring smile.

"I know you will." Soren whispered and pecked Conelm on his right cheek.

"You call that a kiss?" Conelm asked as he launched up from his seat.

"Not at this hour or else I shall walk out." Soren replied and the Crown Prince frowned.

"Sometimes you are heartless towards me." Conelm said.

"If I am not heartless to you then who will be?" Soren replied.

After a few more days, Endra was beaming with celebration at last after a long while.

The greatly anticipated event that had remained unchanged for about a thousand years was taking place.

The streets were filled with banners in the capital, there were flags on display as the early May procession passed.

It was a full batallion of horsemen that escorted the golden lion coach that held within it the young King Sian himself.

Every one was dying to have a glimpse of the young man who had the attraction of very many people both young and old.

The old Cathedral that stood strong and mighty at the Capital was filled with music and pomp.

Choirs, guests, clergy along with the peers, peeresses and ministers filled the interior and all were dressed in their very best outfits.

The Princess Royal, Sabrina made her way in before and followed by her was her younger brother Soren who was magnificently dressed in an ivory gown.

It was accompanied by a blue sash that bore his titles along with the Scoln royal family crest.

He did attend the coronation not only as a significant royal but as a sibling and prince of the blood.

His maroon train with golden stripes was being supported by a pair of ladies in waiting and behind him was a young herald who bore his coronet.

Conelm was already settled but far from the love of his life, at least his grumpy brother-in-law made sure of that and Soren was just taking his seat beside Sabrina.

The Golden coach had just arrived at the entrance of the Cathedral when the noises outside grew even more violent.

At last, the procession of his Majesty the King started as he walked down the aisle majestically to the tune of the musical instruments.

The choir and all that had gathered burst into a song as the flag bearers of the provinces made their way ahead of the King to the altar.

The King wore a beautiful red coat and a pair of black trousers.

Ontop, he wore a blue sash and a very long maroon and gold cloak whose train was held my ten men in waiting.

The moment that the King arrived at the golden throne that faced the altar, his men in waiting took off his train and he was dressed in a pure white cotton altar cloak.

The King knelt before the altar and the peers brought a golden canopy above his head.

The High Priest moved forward with a bottle of olive oil in his hand and stood in front of the kneeling King.

"Is his Majesty willing to take the oath?" The High Priest asked.

"Yes, I am willing." Sian replied.

"Then do you promise, to uphold all state and religious customs, to govern the people rightly and just as well as to be the great defender of the faith and head of the state inviolably?" The High Priest asked.

"I am willing and shall do so with the help of the goods whose doing this is and shall remain marvellous in our sight." Sian replied.

"Then they shall comission you for the greatness that lays ahead, guide you through all your strife.

And with thy hands, breast and head annointed with holy oil, I do now procalim you the chosen King of their people." The High priest said.

The King stood up and the men in waiting dressed him in the imperial golden cloaks and sash with the peers still bearing the golden canopy.

They turned around and escorted the King whose hands were held by the priests as he mounted his golden throne and sat down.

The Canopy was removed and the High priest accompanied by the others brought from the altar before their king the state regalia.

The Canopy was removed and the High priest handed over the orb to the King in his left palm and the golden sceptre in his right.

He then lifted the Golden Diadem with all its solemnity as the peers and peeresses stood immediately.

"As Kings who have come on before and passed, with the gods as witness in the presence of man.

I do Crown the young Lord and Duke Sian, Sovereign Majesty and King of Endra." The priest said and the Crown touched the royal brow.

All peers and peeresses wore their coronets as the music played and Enormous shouts of "LONG LIVE THE KING" reigned over the land.
