Chapter 7

About a block away from the station, the blue sedan pulled up next to them, rolled down the window and shot the stranger driving her. She grabbed the wheel trying to stop it from crashing but the car went over a curb and hit a pole. Megan recovered herself, got out of the car and started running to the police station which was now a couple of buildings down the street. She heard a gunshot from behind and fell to her knees on the floor in pain from a shot to her left shoulder. She knew help was so close but the pain in her shoulder was unbearable. She stood up and stumbled to the station. She could hear footsteps closely approaching behind her and tried to pick up speed, gritting her teeth through the pain. She reached the police station and quickly slammed open the door with her good arm and yelled for help. Police officers rushed to her aid and ran after the man behind her. She was ushered inside and was sent to the hospital in an ambulance. She was told they caught the man and her arm was miraculously nearly undamaged. The bullet didn't hit her bone, arteries, or nerves, it was basically just a flesh wound, so she could keep her arm and all function of it. Her sister visited her at the hospital frequently, so Megan had the chance to tell her of their mother's death. Once Megan was out of the hospital, they had a funeral for their mother. Megan's shoulder would need time to heal and her and her sister were definitely going to need therapy but she knew things were going to be okay.
