Chapter 6

She never much liked the running aspect of gym class, she never saw the point of running unless she were being chased. However, she was running now and she was glad she never skipped gym class. She ran as fast as her legs would let her. She ran so fast that she felt as if she might be flying. She knew her father wouldn't be far behind and since he is taller and stronger than she is, she knew that he would be catching up soon. She needed to find the road. She could look for help if there was anyone driving by. At least if she got out of the forest, she wouldn't be nearly tripping over roots and sticks. Although, on the road, her father might catch up to her faster but it was the only plan she had. She had to stick to it. She found the road and saw a car about to pass her. It slowed down and she could see the driver. He rolled down his passenger side window and called out, "Hey, do you need a ride?" She nodded her head and hopped in. She thanked him for giving her a ride. She looked out the back window and saw a blue sedan behind them. She didn't want to panic in case it was someone else. After a few minutes and having passed a couple of exits, she started to panic. She told the driver, "Listen to me. A man wants to kill me and I am afraid that he might be following us in the car behind us. I am very sorry for putting you in a position like this." He glanced in his rearview mirror and saw that the blue sedan was still following them and said, "I understand and I am going to try to help you. What do you need me to do?"

"If you could drive me to a police station or somewhere that I can get help, that would be great," she said. He nodded his head and started driving to the police station.
