10mins. Later
Cece: How was the food?
Kay: Pretty good actually.
Cece: Glad to hear it. Anyway, now that you're both finished, I want to talk about something.
Kay: Okay.
Cece: We're really supposed to be talking about this later with Genny, but there's no harm in letting you guys know some of it now. So, Genny and I were discussing last night, and we decided that we'll allow you two and your family to live here normally in a nearby town. Under our supervision of course, but you'll be able to go to school and do other normal things. That is, if you would want that life.
Kay: What if we refuse?
Cece: Then you can live here in that room we put you in.
Kay: Anything but that.
Cece: Good! Now, I really can't tell you everything just yet but use the info as a little insight on what's to come later today.
Jake: Sounds good!
The boys look at each other and smile.
Cece: Alright boys. Let's start heading back.
Kay: Wait! Before we go, would it be okay if I bring some food back for Lilli?
Cece: Sure!
Kay: Nice!
Kayleb springs up and rushes over to the food line. He gathers as much as he can for Lilli and once done, quickly makes his way over to Jake and Cece waiting for him at the cafe exit.
Cece: All good?
Kay: Yup!
Cece: Let's go.
~~~~~
They return to the room and as they walk in, they see Lilli sitting up on her bed.
Kay: Good morning, Lil.
Lilli: Good morning.
Kay: I brought you some breakfast.
Lilli: I see, thank you. Is that where you guys were?
Kay: Yea, Cece came by earlier and took us. She just left actually. Surprisingly Earth food isn't that bad.
Kayleb hands over the tray to Lilli and then climbs up onto the bed, sitting next to her. While Jake makes his way over to the other bed.
Jake: She had a talk with us and told us that we can live a normal life in a nearby town. If we want. It's either that or living here in this room. Besides that though, she hasn't told us much.
Lilli: Okay, well I say it beats being in here.
Jake: Agreed.
Kayleb sighs and begins to swing his feet.
Lilli: What's wrong, Kayleb?
Kay: I just miss home that's all. We haven't even been here long and it already feels like forever.
Jake: Weren't you just smiling about the news Cece gave us in the cafe?
Kay: Yea, that's because it really does beat being in here, but we shouldn't be here right now. We should be home helping whatever is going on.
Jake: I'm pretty sure we'd just get in the way. You heard it yourself, the people on that ship were a part of Vitaly's crew. There's nothing we can do that'll be helpful.
Kay: Argh! This couldn't have waited another five years?
Lilli: Kay, I understand that you're frustrated, but what matters the most right now is that we're safe. Plus, If anyone was to make a bad situation better, it'll be you. So cheer up.
Lilli wraps her hand around Kayleb's shoulder and kisses him on his head.
Jake: You know what. Since we're on this subject, I have to admit, there has been something on my mind since we left. Before I left the house, I heard auntie Sylaria and auntie Williow arguing about how everyone wasn't prepared. So my guess is that maybe our parents knew this was going to happen.
Lilli: You might be right. When we used to play hide n' seek, I would be able to hear our parents talk in their council room from my hiding spot. I didn't understand what they were talking about most of the time, but it sounded like they were preparing for something.
Kay: What kinda things did you hear?
Lilli: Well, I heard your dad talk about someone named Kori once, and that he'd be returning with others one day.
Kay: My dad?
Lilli: Yea.
Kay: Hmm, now that you mention it, when my dad was taking me to the ship, he mentioned a 'they' and that 'they' came earlier than expected. Do you think this "Kori" person and his company is who he was talking about?
Lilli: Possibly.
Jake: I think they definitely knew this was going to happen. My question now is, why didn't they tell us.
Lilli: Why would they? It's not like we can do anything about it. This is beyond us.
Lilli finishes her food and places the tray on her left side. The room was left silent as the three pondered over their conversation.
Lilli: The things around us have always been off. I guess I'm starting to notice it now that I have reasons to question it. Like how our parents, well, the ones not related to grandfather anyway are all either dead or have gone missing. What happened to them?
Jake: Mela told me that her dad committed suicide right after they were born.
Kay: Yea, I heard he had committed a pretty serious crime and the authorities were after him. Auntie Sylaria ended up finding him in his old shed with a rope around his neck.
Lilli: Who told you that?
Kay: I heard the butlers talk about it once.
Lilli: I didn't even know about that. Geez...poor auntie.
Jake: …To be honest with you, I don't know what happened to my mom. I don't know if she's alive or dead. I just know that she just...disappeared.
Kay: If anything, hopefully she's okay.
Jake: ...hopefully
Kay: My dad told me that mom died in an accident. There was something wrong with the engine of the spaceship she was on, causing it to explode. No one survived the explosion.
Jake: I didn't know that.
Kay: My dad didn't like telling the story, it hurt him too much. He didn't even want to tell me, but I guess it was just my right to know.
Jake: It makes sense to tell you.
Lilli: ...My dad tried to claim the throne for himself and challenged grandfather. Well, you guys can guess the rest.
Kay: Really? I didn't know a man could be so crazy.
Jake: What about Luna's dad? Do you guys know anything about him?
Kay: Nope.
Lilli: I know nothing as well. He's a complete mystery.
Jake: ...I think I see what you mean.
Lilli: Right. This is just all so weird. Those stories you guys told, that was my first time hearing any of that. But the thing is, do you guys even remember going to any funerals?
Jake: No.
Kay: Uh-uh.
Lilli: Exactly, that's because we never went to any. Why wouldn't we?
Jake: That could just be because of how reserved our family is. They probably didn't want us to get distracted by our feelings.
Lilli: Maybe...or there's something they're not telling us.
Jake: Like what?
Kay: Aargh, my head! You know what, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have mentioned home. Let's just save all of the questions and concerns for when we actually get back. For now let's just focus on surviving here. On Earth.
Lilli glances over to Jake before responding to Kayleb.
Lilli: Sure, Kayleb.
Kay: ...Sooo, you guys wanna watch tv?
Jake: Yea, I'm down.
Lilli: I should go take a shower before I do anything else for the day. And Kay, I want you to go take one as soon as I'm done. Okay?
Kay: Fine.
Lilli: Good.
Lilli gets up and heads over to the bathroom, while Kaleb follows after her to retrieve the tv remote. He turns on the tv and scrolls through channels to find a show to put on.
Kay: Hey! This looks good.
Jake: What is it?
Kay: Jungle spirits, wanna watch it?
4hrs. Later
Lilli: Aww, poor Cansey, he thinks he's not fit to be the leader because the other two are more experienced than him. Well, I say you were chosen for a reason! Show them that you are more than worthy and that you were born for this!
Kay: Wow! You really get into these shows.
Lilli: What's the point of tv if you don't? Plus, we never really get to watch tv, sooo, leave me alone.
A knock at the door interrupts the conversation between Lilli and Kayleb. There was a loud buzz again and the door slid open. It was the General and he take a couple steps inside.
General G: I need you three to come with me.
The boys look at Lilli and she nods her head to confirm that this is what they're doing. They get up and follow the General back to the HQ.
~~~~~
As they make their way into the HQ, the kids notice that the only people in the room are Cece, Sky, and Rai. The three continue following the General to the center of the room, but also notice a monitor that displays a man and woman with their information under their pictures.
General G: Before we start, are there any questions?
No one replies.
General G: Then let us begin. As you three can see, there is a man and a woman on the screen. Their names are Gerald and Lisa Baker. From here on out, they will be your new caretakers. They live in a small city called New Dia and that's where you'll be staying. The city is only forty-five minutes away by car, so if anything were to happen, we won't be too far away. As for your identities, you'll keep your first names but you'll be taking on the surname Baker. Your records will show that you three are their grandchildren and that you'll be transferring from an island called Umo. Any questions?
Lilli: What about our cousins?
General G: Records of your relatives Mesa and Luna have been made.
Lilli: Mela!...It was supposed to be Mesa but it's her twin sister Melaru instead.
General G: No worries. They can still be fixed. The records don't come into effect until tomorrow.
Lilli: Thank you.
General G: You're welcome. Now, Cece you're up.
Cece: Okay! I won't be very long. To start off, there are very important rules you must know and follow. They are very simple but also very crucial to your survival here on Earth. First, do not speak about your powers or about your planet. The kids around your age probably won't have a clue about what you're talking about, but the adults will, and the word will spread. Depending on the person, they will either cause panic, report you, or even try to kill you. You don't want that and we don't want that either, so please, keep it quiet.
Second, Do not display or showcase your powers for any reason, not even to save a person's life. You must not use them. We don't need people to start realizing that the "crazy" people on the streets are actually telling the truth. To make sure that an incident doesn't happen, we'll have to keep those limiters on you for a while...sorry. And Lastly, if anyone asks you about anything remotely close to this subject, steer clear. The more "normal" you seem, the more you fit in. Am I making myself clear?
Lilli: No powers! Got it!
Cece: Good. All you have to do is not speak about or use your powers, and be kind to others and everything will be fine. That's it.
Lilli: We can do that.
Cece: Thank you.
General G: Rai.
Rai releases a very loud, and annoyed sigh. He unfolds his arms and scans the kids, looking up and down on each one. Eventually his eye's set on Lilli, and a smirk arises. He approaches her and their eyes clash the entire time creating a noticeable tension between the two. As he confronts her, their glares grow stronger. The General and Cece quietly watch, observing Lilli and how she handles herself.
Rai: My sister and I have some important business to take care of, so...we'll be taking your ship. And since you have no need for it anymore...I think I'll keep it. Hope you don't mind...Anyway, that's all, I should get going. Oh! Yea, and one more thing, maybe I'll pay your planet a little visit. I'll make sure to let everyone know that you three are...just fine.
Lilli smiles and retaliates.
Lilli: Well...don't just stop there. Why don't you tell them that you took us into your care, gave us a special room, and...asked us some questions. I'm sure they'd do the same for you… Hopefully you enjoy your stay. I mean, the planet is absolutely stunning, with its pink sky's and shimmering clear waters. And oh my, the food...It's to die for.
Cece and Sky chuckle at Lilli's snarky reply. Rai then turns around to face his sister and she immediately starts coughing to cover it up.
Sky: What?! I can't lie, she's funny.
Rai: Let's move.
Sky: I mean, to be fair. you deserved that.
He grabs her by the arm and pulls her along with him. Sky quickly turns around to wave goodbye to her new friends and blows a kiss towards Jake. He shies away, making her smile before she's fully gone.
Cece: That girl. Never afraid to do what she wants.
Lilli: Uhh, for the record, I was only joking. I didn't mean any of that.
Cece: Don't worry. Like sky said, he deserved it.
