Chapter 93: Anything’s possible.

When Qin Qianyu arrived at her destination, she noted that there was still 25 minutes left to spare.

Using her shadowless steps, Qin Qianyu cautiously scouted the surrounding buildings first before doing the same to the warehouse that she'll be meeting the contact in a moment and found nothing out of the ordinary.

She found herself a corner and stayed there for some time.

She tried to block out any preconceived ideas and thoughts about what the contact would say about Grandpa Wú, but it was hard.

To curb and calm the building anxiety in her, Qin Qianyu started running through biological subsystems she knew of and simulating their cellular systems of metabolites in her minds eye.

Meanwhile, while Qin Qianyu was doing that, in a detention centre located in another part of the city two men were being led out.

One was Hui Weiwei, co-director of Tā de. He was led out by a slew of men. He was mad about what had happened and how he had to stay almost two nights in detention.

His explanation into the entire matter was that it was all Song Zhaoge's doing. He had been approached by Song Zhaoge into investing in the new line of dresses that "he" had designed along with a very talented designer.

Hui Weiwei told him everything that he could remember about their meeting and soon he produced email and message exchanges that were between the two.

The entire project was ongoing for around two months with the last four showpieces being completed the night before the event started that day.

Hui Weiwei complained in his heart as he came out of the room were he could collect all his personal belongings.

Suddenly he became even more furious when he spotted the other man being led out.

The other was Song Zhaoge. He was being led by a small team of men following an elderly man.

"Song Zhaoge! Expect my lawyers letter in the morning! Don't you dare run, I'll crush you and that shitty old thing next to you if you do."

The elder along with Song Zhaoge paid no mind to Hui Weiwei. They simply entered the waiting car and sped off into the night.

"How dumb are you to fall for another's tricks!? It's supposed to be you using them! Have you learnt nothing from me?"

"Sorry grandfather, I've let you down."

The old man waved him off angrily then added as he looked out the window,

"That Jie fellow of yours is still a good piece, keep him dangling there for awhile, you'll be able to use him as a sacrifice when something bigger comes along. Just push blame to him under the guise that he was trying to make up the losses you faced when you had backed him over all this rubbish."

"I understand grandfather."

"Mhm, It's good that you do! As for bailing you out, tsk!,"

" . . This will be the last and only time this happens. Do you understand.

"Yes, I do, . . And thank you grandfather for doing so."

"Don't thank me just yet, I've still to tell you the price for doing so,"

" . . . "

"Now, for your punishment, or repayment, that really doesn't matter how you want to interpret it, I'll be taking 30% of your remaining stocks, 60% of your assets and 90% of your body."

Song Zhaoge's eyes widened in horror as he looked to his grandfather incredulously,

"You don't agree? . . Fine I'll add another 5% to all those I just mentioned."

" . . . As you say grandfather."

"Good. Now, I've booked you a direct flight to Korea that'll leave in 12 hours. You'll be sent to Cheonjae, their elite university of medicine and science for a year."

"What about Hui Weiwei's threat!?"

"What about it!? . . Is it worst than mine? . . If you don't do what I tell you to do, I'll disable you from the ankles up. Forget about a measly brand manager. I've big plans install for you."

"What! . . But I've plans here! . . my own big plans!"

"Pfft! . . Like the big idea I've just saved you from?"

" . . . "

"I had organised to send you to Zhishi, but my inside guy was caught up with that stupid Vice Principle. Plus, Zhishi is shit now thanks to all that."

Elder Song then handed his grandson a folder. Inside were photos and information on three different young women.

"Are you sending me on a blind date or . . ?"

"Pull that damn head out of your arse! These are your targets. You'll do your best to woo at least one of them over to our family."

"Why me though!? . . "

"You've forgotten already? Your repayment of 95% of your body. Use it to bring one of these women into our family. All the information you need is in there."

Elder song then went on to explain that he plans to re enter the pharmaceutical race and develop newer medications instead of reselling others stock.

"For that I need someone capable to make these, understand now?"

Song Zhaoge could only cup his forehead.

There were already three problems with his grandfather's plan.

One, he had the same idea already.

Song Zhaoge just needed the investment funds for that to happened. Which he almost did have if not for an incident involving a mysterious woman in a fox mask at Heaven's Chosen.

He and his men had tried everything in their power to find out about her, but their searches came up empty.

It was like she didn't exist. She was a phantom. A phantom that took his 100 million.

This was the money he had skimmed from under his grandfathers nose that his idiot brother ended up losing.

Now he just lost the same amount and more he had just gotten from Hui Weiwei seeing him back at square one and Vial hot on his tail to make sure he fulfils his side of the deal.

Two, he knew nothing about science especially biochemistry or pharmacology. He was just a businessman, and not a good one at that.

And three. In his eyes, all of these girls looked as pretty as gangrenous toenails.

This was something his pride and ego could never accept.

Song Zhaoge couldn't complain out loud so he did it internally to the point of beating it into his grandfathers smug face with his bare hands.

In one's mind, anything was possible.

He needed to find a way to hustle the money somehow. If not the complete investment, at the very least, he needed the 100 million Yuan for his initial contract with Vial.

Back at the detention centre Jie Lin and Ji Yunhao were both being interviewed again but in seperate rooms.

The investigators were determining how much of a role each had played in this fiasco.

On one side there was a designer claiming that they had created the designs fo the dresses.

And on the other, was the mother of the victim and also the lover of the fake designer.

Ji Yunhao was stressed as it was, and all the questioning and answers slowly became a blur for her.

"For the millionth time, I honestly don't know how Mingxi's designs fell into Jie Lin's hands. I don't even know what a computer cloud is."

"Even on my phone I only know how to make calls and open the search engine. Even the camera is a hellish task for me to operate. If I see a nice scenery and want to take a snap of it, the camera always looks at me and shows my face on the sceeen. I've been told its called a selfie. Do you know It's so distracting and frustrating to operate!"

On the other side, Jie Lin was explaining that he had gotten the designs from Ji Yunhao herself.

"It's all true, she's always wanted to be admired for her designs. When she showed them to me saying they were hers she asked that I make them and market them as my own designs."

"That's the only reason I was so vocal about the ownership of the designs because they came from Ji Yunhao. This has nothing to do with me I swear."

The investigators rolled their eyes internally. They have been around the block a lot and know it like the back of their hand.

"Miss Ji is claiming you manipulated her into leaving her husband and family for you. With the amount of money her ex husband has she could have bought 100 textile factories and still have enough money to live a few life times comfortably. So why would she do such a thing as steal from her daughter? . . It would make more sense to stay and collaborate with her own family right?"

"You have it all wrong, I was seduced by her with her money. Besides, who knows what goes through the mind of rich people! With so much money, anything is possible. I'm just another poor man from a poor family trying make an honest living to support my poor parents."

The lead investigator shook their head and added,

"Anything is possible with no money too you know. Aren't you a prime example of that?"

" . . . "

The investigators could already tell that Jie Lin was a habitual offender and liar. As much as they had been around the block, Jie Lin had also been there too.

They however were only collecting his side of the story. Once all the probing and fact finding by PIT were done, he'd be done for.

The team of PIT officers sent to data mine all the electronic devices came up with all the evidence they needed.

Not only that, but the cloud storage service that Lu Mingxi used also gave data on when the account was accessed and even how their were several failed attempts made to gain unauthorised access prior to all this.

All of this was stacking up against Jie Lin, with Ji Yunhao coming off looking like a Casanova victim.

They finished off the interviews. And since neither of them could post their bail, they had no other choice but to stay within the detention centre till their court date.

Back at the abandoned warehouse, time had ticked over slowly for Qin Qianyu.

She still stood in her corner skulking like a rat quiet yet attentive even while her mind was preoccupied.

She suddenly heard the faint noise of a vehicle approaching the warehouse.

The car came to a stop and after a moment, an elderly man stepped out, stood tall and straight next to his car and did nothing else but wait.

"You're quite punctual, you stepped out a minute before midnight."

"I don't deserve praise for driving here and stepping out of my car."

"If you say so. Then let's get to the crux of it all then."

"Mhm,"

"Where is Master Wú?"

"His current location is unknown to us. We've already lost contact with him."

"Where!? . . Where was he sent to and what was his mission parameters?"

"Laos, he was sent to Laos for an extraction of a high valued hostage."

The contact explained that the high valued person Grandpa Wú went to rescue was being held by a now defunct Ministry party turned militant group from Myanmar.

The hostage was taken while examining the site of a recently found hidden monastery in Laos.

"And now?"

"Like I said, we've had no contact from him or the group who had issued the ransom for the hostage for that matter."

The contact continued to tell Qin Qianyu that the last communications they had gotten from him was that he was tracking them towards a village in Laos, that was three days ago.

"He's missed every single check in since,"

"And what's the decision made about all this? What do you all plan to do next?"

The contact only shrugged helplessly as he replied,

"Nothing. Wú Haodong and the mission are now disavowed. If the mission was still active I wouldn't be telling you anything."

The contact said all he could based on what he knew. Qin Qianyu made some speculations herself on the matter. And the pair discussed all of this.

Three scenarios came to mind as Qin Qianyu and the contact spoke.

"He's currently fleeing with the hostage, and hasn't had a chance to report his situation or give a welfare check."

"He's been captured by this group and they have since gone into hiding fearing reprisals from the "people" that had sent master Wú."

The contact nodded, then he added to the most likely scenario. The one that had the higher ups disavow Grandpa Wú and the mission.

"Or, he has already expired before he could accomplish his task."

" . . . "

Qin Qianyu said nothing but her thoughts were being imagined by the contact. He said all that he needed to say and left Qin Qianyu to her own devices as he drove away.

Qin Qianyu could only sigh.

"Nothing is truly set in stone unless you set it yourself!"

Qin Qianyu reassured herself after straddling her motorcycle. She refuse to believe that he, that Grandpa Wú, was dead unless she saw his body with her own eyes.

She made a beeline back to her city lab where Wu Yihuan was this would be the last item on her to do list before she headed home.

Qin Qianyu entered the building and headed straight to her lab first to check any changes of the worms.

The were still in the same state as they were previously except their numbers had now gone down.

She had managed to isolate a few of them and place them individually in seperate containers.

Those were now dead with all of them missing pieces of themselves from the self mutilation. Qin Qianyu shook her head at this.

"Seems without a leader they're all basically idiots in a can!"

Qin Qianyu heard some movement from her makeshift operating room and went to check it out.

Qin Qianyu walked in on Wu Yihuan in only her underwear.

She doing some weird asana, a yoga pose, that fully showed off her newly acquired body and all of its splendour.

Wu Yihuan had become more mobile than when Qin Qianyu left her earlier that evening.

She still felt some stiffness even though Qin Qianyu had given her a massage. Wu Yihuan decided to stretch and strengthen all her core muscle groups at once by doing some exercise to accomplish this.

Qin Qianyu smiled and quipped,

"You practically give a whole new meaning to hot yoga!"

"Pfft, apologies . . I'm . . Almost done . . With this . . Ma'am,"

Qin Qianyu understood this and stopped interrupting her. If Wu Yihuan ended the too early it could be detrimental to the body, much like when she does her own morning ritual with her breathing exercise.

Qin Qianyu waited till Wu Yihuan was out of her pose and handed the sweat drenched woman a towel to wipe down.

"Have you eaten yet?"

No, I only got out of bed an hour or so ago."

"Mhm, alright, go wash up and I'll fix you a meal."

Wu Yihuan nodded and headed in the direction Qin Qianyu had shown her earlier.

Qin Qianyu went to the cafe area and made a quick and simple stir fry, an egg roll and a egg and tomato soup.

It was all done by the time Wu Yihuan came to find Qin Qianyu.

The pair sat down and Qin Qianyu had Wu Yihuan eat not minding her. Wu Yihuan did as Qin Qianyu peeled and cut some fruit for after the meal.

Wu Yihuan thoroughly enjoyed the meal. The pair ate fruits and chatted over tea.

The pair talked about current events, that didn't last long as Wu Yihuan had only been dead over a day.

They didn't bring up what Wu Yihuan would do with her new life. Qin Qianyu didn't raise the topic either which made Wu Yihuan relax.

Her thinking was that Qin Qianyu would want her out asap but it wasn't the case.

Qin Qianyu had told her earlier to take her time and think things through. Qin Qianyu then told Wu Yihuan all about what had happened at the hospital with it now being in lockdown and how it involved Wen Wú Ting as "patient zero" for all of it.

"There's one more thing, it's about Yangyang."

"Oh? . . "

"She's dead."

" . . . "

Qin Qianyu looked at Wu Yihuan but saw no sign of reluctance, grieving or sadness.

"Nothing severs attachment faster than being betrayed by someone you love."

Qin Qianyu though internally. She knew exactly how that felt. She then continued,

"What's been uncovered is that, whoever she was working with had her assassinated while she was being detained outside your home. The person that did it was the same woman I had seen when I infiltrated Treasure. She was also the same person that infected ADT's Commander."

"Tsk! . . I just had to put in my resignation and die to boot! Sorry ma'am, I could've delved into this and given you more information on these people and their master behind them, I wasn't so selfish."

Qin Qianyu gave a breathy chuckle and added,

"It's in the past now. If they keep coming I'll be more than happy to show them how dumb of a decision that would be."

The pair chatted some more then Qin Qianyu told her that she maybe away for a week or so, but she wasn't worried about Wu Yihuan.

Qin Qianyu had already set her up to start a new life.
