Chapter 117: Hunt.

Meanwhile, in a tall building located in the entertainment district, a woman sat at an office desk in a large open office.

She tapped her finger on the desk as she went over the information she just received.

A large smile appeared on her face as she picked up her phone and made a call.

"Meimei, try take a guess at what I hold in my hands,"

"Aunt, if it's a moist chocolate cake then we'll have two for after dinner."

"Oh! . . Have you been baking!?"

"Mhm, since I have a lot of free time now I thought I'd bake us a cake for dessert. Ah . . But I promise I'll try harder to secure more roles . . I promise I won't let your good grace go to waste."

"Meimei . . . "

The woman muttered softly. Her heart hurt when she heard the desperation in Murong Meimei's voice.

She quickly stowed her thoughts and regained her upbeat temperament.

"Well that's partly why I called you."

"Oh!?"

"I don't have a chocolate cake in my hands, but it's equally as good. The production team have just sent a contract for you. They want you to star in One Shot. The person they had was caught up in a scandal and it's the last thing they want for their movie. The good thing is, it was originally yours to begin with, it's fate. What belongs to you will come back to you."

"Wow really!? . . Aunt this is great news. Let's have this chocolate cake to celebrate."

"Haha, alright. I'll be leaving the office soon, I'll be home as quick as I can."

"Alright Aunt, I'll see you when you get back."

Murong Meimei sneered as she hung up the phone, then muttered aloud,

"Of course it belongs to me! . . But it wasn't fate! . . I secured it with my own two hands. Stupid woman!"

She placed a bag on the bench and pulled out a readymade chocolate cake that she just had delivered to her.

She plated it and promptly disposed of the packaging.

Murong Meimei took all the evidence of her "baking" down to the condos recycling.

When she got there, she was startled as she spied a pair of legs from behind the dumpster.

"Huuwahhh! . . The hell!?"

Murong Meimei exclaimed loudly. She looked around in a panic before investigating the legs.

She gingerly poked her little head around the corner to find a young man covered in blood. He had slash like wounds across his torso and midriff.

Murong Meimei cupped her mouth in shock. It was like a scene from an action film.

She noticed the man's chest raising and falling slowly. This told her that the man was still alive at least.

It's at this point that she looked up at his face. Her eyes went wide again from amazement.

She couldn't pull herself away from his handsome features.

He made every other man she had ever met or seen, even in the entertainment industry, look normal in comparison.

The young and injured man was Wú Haodong.

"Oh! . . He makes that cake look like sludge! I could gobble him up whole right now."

She thought in her heart which was beating abnormally fast.

Her breathing became staggered as she gazed upon the unconscious Wú Haodong.

"How did you get these wounds. Should I call the ambulance or the police?"

Murong Meimei mumbled out aloud. She was both scared and excited at the same time. The more she looked Wú Haodong over, the more invested and infatuated she became with him.

"If we're talking fate, then meeting this man definitely deserves to be a part of my destiny."

Murong Meimei made a decision she found a trolley and carried the man up to her Aunts home. As she did, her attention was taken by a metal clunking sound followed quickly by another.

The two Steinbrenner handguns fell. Seeing these guns shocked her. Murong Meimei picked them up.

"They're so heavy! . . These must be real."

"Are you a gangster? Maybe the son of a famous mobster? . . Or are you an agent for the country?"

Murong Meimei's mind settled on the last one. If he were a gang member, he wouldn't be here behind a dumpster. If his family were mobsters then that too would see him being taken care of by the family.

So the only rational explanation she could come up with was an agent on a mission that may had failed which led to him being in such a state.

"Well you're either a secret agent or spy. But, then you could also be an assassin too."

If you're an assassin, could I trade a one off service for helping and saving you?"

Murong Meimei's mind took a long wander as she quietly wheeled Wú Haodong back to the condo.

She pushed him into her room and hid his guns away as she quickly cleaned and dressed his wounds.

Her nose scrunched up from looking at them. Yet she got stuck in and cleaned them the best she could with a cloth soaked in disinfectant.

Using wads of gauze and ointment, Murong Meimei covered the wounds then wrapped them in bandages.

The ghastly wounds look as if they were made by an animal attack rather than blades.

When she was done she checked out her handy work one last time while running her hands over his body.

She was truly mesmerised and captivated by his all round aesthetic.

Thinking up to here, she soon laid her head on his chest lightly.

She tried hard not to wake him as she pulled out her phone and too a few selfies.

She then got bolder and pulled her arms out of the sleeves of her top. She also pulled her bra straps off, leaving her shoulders and her collar bone bare. From there upwards, she looked naked in the photos she took.

She laid in bed next to the unconscious Wú Haodong, and took a series of pictures with him and her together making sure not to get her clothing or his bandages in the shot.

She then took his arm and laid on it like a pillow. Murong Meimei held his slender, yet large, hard fingers in hers and intertwined them as she took more photos that suggested a very close and intimate relationship between the two.

The last photo she took was of Wú Haodong's hand resting on her bare shoulders.

He was truly a confectionery factory to her eyes, and her blushing cheeks and gaping mouth agreed.

Murong Meimei spotted the bag Wú Haodong had with him. She wanted to know more about him.

Thinking his wallet or form of identification could be in there, she got off the bed lightly as not to disturb Wú Haodong's slumber.

She reached out and opened it slowly. As she did so, her heart started racing again. It was exciting to do so with the owner only a few meters away from her unawares.

She reached her hand inside and as she did, she heard the unmistakable sound of the door code being entered at the front door.

This caused her to panic. She removed her hand and zipped up the bag and looked to Wú Haodong to make sure that he hadn't woken up and she wasn't seen.

Murong Meimei tucked him into her bed and squared away her room leaving the injured and unconscious man there.

As she walked out of her room, Murong Meimei turned to look at him again, and as she stared at him intensely, a sensation started to ripple through her heart. She was scared that it may have all been a dream, that if she dared to look away, then he would disappear, she had to keep looking at him so that he wouldn't.

But if he did, she still had her photos she took, but nothing could be better than looking at the real thing.

Murong Meimei bites her lower lip as she heard movement at the front door. She didn't want to leave her room in fear that when she returned, the young man would be gone.

"Tsk! . . Why'd she have to come back now."

Murong Meimei complained internally. She was was more reluctant to leave her room now.

"Meimei, I'm home!"

Murong Meimei's Aunt, Wei Xinyi called out from the front door.

The scowl on Murong Meimei's face softened as she closed her eyes and counted to three. It was as if she were getting into character for a shoot.

She closed the door to her room and went to greet Wei Xinyi.

"Aunt, welcome home. Here let me help you with those."

Murong Meimei took the bags of shopping from Wei Xinyi and packed everything away.

The pair chatted away for some time while having their dinner. When dessert came, Wei Xinyi handed Murong Meimei the contract for the new production, One Shot, and gushed at her while tasting the moist chocolate cake.

"Oh wow Meimei! . . This cake is absolutely divine! You must teach me the recipe."

"Haha, it's nothing special Aunt. It's just a recipe from online."

"Well it must taste this good because you made it. It tastes better than the cakes at 'Sweet as You' dessert shop!"

"Hehe, I'm glad you like it Aunt."

Little did Wei Xinyi know, that was exactly where the cake came from.

"Fake idiot! . . You don't even know it came from your favourite shop. No wonder your fiancé cheated you. You're far too stupid!"

Murong Meimei scoffed internally at the happy woman indulging in the chocolate morsel while she herself went over the movie contract.

Murong Meimei helped with their dinner and dessert dishes and the pair settled down for a small chat over hot chocolate that Murong Meimei had procured also.

She knew that Wei Xinyi had a weakness for all things chocolate. White, dark, milk, flavoured, you name it, if it's made from a cacao seeds, she just had to have it.

"I've readjusted your schedule so that there wouldn't be any conflicts. But there's one that I couldn't move."

"Oh . . Cant it really be moved? . . I want to give 100% to the movie and don't really want it to affect my performance."

"I understand how you feel. I want the exact same thing. But . . "

"It's for a brand under the Gaoshan's umbrella, but it shouldn't be too bad. I'll speak with the movies production staff when it's closer to doing the endorsements for that. Hopefully they'll be able to film other scenes in the time you'll be away."

"I understand Aunt. I'll do my best."

"I know you will Meimei. That's all any of us can do is our best. Alright I'm heading to bed now. Good night and I'll see you tomorrow morning."

It was getting late into the evening and Wei Xinyi finally called it a night. Murong Meimei was ecstatic to hear this, even more so, to head to bed herself.

She quickly signed the contract and gave it back to Wei Xinyi.

"Good night Aunt."

Wei Xinyi left towards her room. Murong Meimei did the same and entered hers, as she closed the door, Wú Haodong opened his eyes.

"Where am I!?"

My bedroom, . . "

" . . . "

Wú Haodong gave her the "isn't that obvious" stare. Murong Meimei quickly added that they were currently located downtown in mid city and continued,

"Ah, you had been attacked and I helped you. I wanted to call the police and get you to the hospital, but . . but you asked me not to. I cleaned and bandaged your wounds the best I could. How . . how do you feel now? . . "

Murong Meimei says as she put on the best performance she has ever displayed.

She decided to play the naive, yet, innocent and kindhearted next door neighbour.

At times she would take a step backwards as if she were apprehensive towards Wú Haodong, then showed an internal struggle happening within her through her facial expressions and minute body movements and gestures.

This action told anyone seeing this that she made a decision to be bold and accept the decision she made to not only help but also try to understand that Wú Haodong couldn't possibly be a bad person towards the person that had helped him.

Every action she did was on the beat, hitting its mark, on point and delivered with purpose.

Wú Haodong looked at Murong Meimei with uncertainty, she looked back at him strangely,

"Did I really involve a civilian in my personal matters?"

He couldn't remember if he did or not. He looks to Murong Meimei and nodded as he added,

"You have my thanks, but I should go now. It's not safe for you to be around me."

Wú Haodong looked around and asked with a concerned tone,

"Did you see my weapons?"

"No. I only found you. You can check by the recycling. That's where we had met. Your weapons might be there."

She lied to him. Since the man was awake and somewhat able, she knew that he'd be leaving.

She would use the guns as an excuse to meet Wú Haodong again.

Wú Haodong frowned and looked around some more.

He soon found what he was looking for and got out of bed heading towards his bag.

Murong Meimei gasp slightly as she ogled Wú Haodong. She started acting shy from seeing his well toned body.

He opened his bag and panicked. The item that he really needed was missing.

"The mask is gone! . . Did that girl take it!?"

Wú Haodong asked himself.

He didn't mind if he lost his two guns, but the mask, that was his life.

His hand went through the bag and out a tear to the side. He figured that Murong Meimei didn't take his things.

He tried to take his mind back to the incident from the previous night. He mentally retraced his steps and where he could have dropped it.

He was soon brought out of his thoughts by a lightly tap on his shoulder.

"Um . . You can wear these if you have nothing else. The clothes you were wearing were all torn up."

Murong Meimei handed Wú Haodong an over sized pink t-shirt she normally wore as a night dress and a hooded jersey.

Wú Haodong looked down at himself and nodded.

Although it was an oversized t-shirt for her, on Wú Haodong, it was if it were a size s.

Suddenly there was a knock on her door.

Wei Xinyi had heard two voices and came to investigate.

Murong Meimei's face changed into fright as she stared at the door. Wú Haodong looked around the room and hid in the laundry basket.

The last thing he needed or wanted to do was alert "their" presence to any of the people of this home. He had initially gone out to "hunt" only to be hunted instead.

Murong Meimei watched Wú Haodong in both astonishment and amusement.

"Meimei! . . Is everything alright?"

Wei Xinyi asked from the other side of the door. Murong Meimei went over and open the door for her Aunt.

As she welcomed her Aunt in, she stood there and smiled but also gave an apologetic expression.

"Yes Aunt. I'm just practicing some dialogue exercises. Sorry if I disturbed your sleep."

She says and fiddled around with some things on her drawer

"Oh okay that's fine. But I suggest you get some rest too. There's no need to over work and stress yourself."

"Okay, just a few minutes more and I'll be done."

"Alright Meimei, 10 more minutes then, good night."

"Thanks Aunt, 10 minutes, I promise."

Murong Meimei nodded and closed the door as Wei Xinyi walked back to her room.

She sighed heavily as she looked to the laundry basket.

"She's gone now, it's safe, you can come out."

However. There was no response. She went over and opened the basket. To her surprise, she only found her unwashed undergarments, Wú Haodong wasn't in there.

He had already left the house. He snuck out of the room when Wei Xinyi had come in to speak with Murong Meimei.

"How mysterious! . . But I wished he had told me his name at least. He didn't even say goodbye."

Murong Meimei started feeling dejected and and lonely, but mostly angry. She projected her thoughts and started blaming all of it on her Aunt, Wei Xinyi, for what she was feeling at that moment.

"If she didn't shove her Bing nose into my business then we could have spoken more."

Murong Meimei lay in her bed after turning off her light. She lay there staring at the side Wú Haodong was just lying in moments ago.

She stretched out her hand and felt that side of the bed. The lingering warmth calmed her down some and as she closed her eyes she imagined him still laying there with her.
