I can feel the humidity of the air rub my light-brown skin, and various points of my body, brushing the ticklish touch of the greeneries that comes from above and below.
I can see some of its appearance, but it is really weird why it have not moved at all from the spot from which it materialized, it is really that confused? I contemplate at what the reason could possibly be, the thought that this thing could be waiting for me even crossed my mind, but it was quickly shut down as it is unlikely for it to be this bold.
Though, I am not really someone to accuse someone of being bold, considering that, here I am trying to ambush something, most likely risking my life in the process.
I take a silent deep breathe, and tighten my grip over the dagger's handle. I came out of hiding, splitting the figure of the bush I am hiding in, only to see something that I haven't expected. My incorporeal bloodlust immediately dissipated like a dust under the wind's mercy, though there still is some remains of it.
It is a child, maybe 10-12 years old. It has hair, and eye brows that is reminiscent of a silver's nobility, skin whiter to a level of unhealthiness but still somehow emanate an aura of power, and most eye-catching of all, is the eyes that shines like a ruby in the dark.
He is just standing there with a brown teddy bear on his hands, his eyes locked on my body, somehow making me feel that I would choke in my own blood if he ever wished to do so. It seems he really was waiting for me to arrive, he is quite confident in his abilities to repel attacks huh if he chose staying still.
Though, why? Why would he stand there and let someone go near him, is he protecting something?
I activate my skill for an instant, revealing that there is no other living beings around it that could possibly hold an emotional bond with it, but his next actions or rather only actions caused me to widen my eyes.
He is suddenly unnerved by something right when I activated my skill, can he sense it? It would make sense since that energy fluctuation is definitely abnormal considering the difference in body mass, I should investigate more, maybe it is just a coincidence but I will take note of this.
I relax my body in an attempt at showing that I do not come with violence, carefully observing his expressions and movements. He didn't calm down at all, he still has that piercing eyes on me, I should try talking to him next.
"Hello there uhhh, young one" Why the heck am I talking like I am an old being or something? Though I really can't help it, we didn't exactly start at a good note and this awkwardness will probably kill me with its preposterous density.
He relaxed his body a bit, and started saying something, but there is a very slight problem. I don't understand a single word he is saying, it sounds familiar but definitely sounds unintelligible to me. Okay, this is bad, how can I communicate with it? Maybe symbols or something?
My forehead furrows in thought as I think of how to communicate, he seems to have noticed the barrier language too. Aha, maybe the system can help, I mean language as a whole doesn't hold that much material value, especially when we have magic and stuff.
S, can you tell me if you can help translate what he is saying?
[Yes User, I can enable Will language. It can make you understand what someone is saying without understanding or even knowing the language he is speaking, it only bases around what one or others wish to convey, it can also make those your words be understood by people that is within the range of your voice's volume]
Activate that now, I feel like I am dragging this too much, and I have a feeling that it isn't wise to not keep an eye on my surroundings through energy sensing. I can't really activate that without alarming this guy in front me, that action would only leave a stronger bad taste in his mouth I think.
"Hello there, I apologize for the sudden appearance, I was in the impression that I can hunt you down," I sharply inhaled a breathe of cold air. I should really avoid sounding so aggressive, I don't think he will appreciate that last statement.
And as expected, he didn't like that last statement, indicated by his eyes not calming down at all. Okay okay, try again, I cannot go back now, being sincere and honest is the best option I have right now.
"To be honest I thought you were a threat to me, so I tried sneaking up on you. After seeing a potential partnership with you, I thought it would be in our best interest to cooperate in such harsh lands, and I am not exactly someone that lacks morals"
I looked directly into his eyes and said it without stuttering despite the heavy atmosphere, I am quite surprised I didn't mess up in saying that, good thing the watchful eyes of my previous professors caused atmospheres to freeze, I would thank them if I didn't feel like having a heart attack when subject to their judgement.
He narrowed his eyes a bit, not shy at all from showing his suspicion. He lowered his head after a second of suspicious inspection and touches his chin with his 2 fingers, and seems to delve deep into thought, but it was only for a second or two, he returns his eyes on me with less suspicion immediately, but with it being still quite clear to see.
"We can team up for mutual benefit, any suspicious, and violent behavior will result in this cooperation being broken, injury might not be avoided," He said in all seriousness with his rather child-like voice, clearly puberty hasn't fully arrived to him yet.
This guy or should I call him boy? Doesn't quite act as someone his age, it seems that I could gain more than what I originally expected from him. I definitely don't have such a gain oriented thought of because I don't want to leave a child behind, here in this world that will only continue to become more dangerous and dangerous each day, yes yes, I am definitely being logical.
"Great! Glad we are in the same page. Do you mind if I just do something for a sec?"
He didn't reply, but he nodded lightly and relaxed his gaze. It seems he already trusts me a bit, I guess that is good. I used in the energy sensing skill in all directions, seeing that there was no near creature that could match us in quality, it seems I was unlucky to have 3 materialize right in my immediate surroundings.
It seems that the other 2 new lifeforms was not wasting time, moving north from where I originally was ,enough so that they are not outside the range of my skill, and they are a lot closer to each other now, maybe ranging around 10-20 meters from each other, hopefully they are human-like too.
Maybe I ain't unlucky after all, I have someone to talk to in this cold and silent forest and the 2 living beings could fight if they are violent, but could also turn out spectacularly good if they are humane, a win-win situation. I turned to look at my new companion again, seeing that he is just there, observing what I am doing, most likely aware that my skill is not offensive. Maybe we should do a bit of an introduction?
"How about we wait for the movements of the other 2 before acting? We can introduce ourselves and capabilities first so we know how to rely on each other," I said with a cheerful smile, a try at being friendly since I will probably be with this little one for an unknown amount of time.
"I will go first, I am Victoria Eternia. I am an amateur in fighting and I can do a bit of reconnaissance in the immediate surroundings with my skill, I hope this partnership goes well," I say in a rather friendly manner… I think.
I am just right into the 4th day being here, and this ice-cold place's quietness is really starting to get into my nerves, it is so ridiculously maddening to just see trees, grasses, shrubs, and critters. Sure sure, I like to appreciate the beauty that this place is giving off but I don't want to break and continue talking to trees because of loneliness.
I have even begun to talk a few times to the carcasses before they dispersed off into who knows where, practicing my epic clines and speech. Why am I practicing it? Well we are in a fantasy world, I wouldn't want to fall short of its expectations in introductions and stuff, and I am bored. The only thing I hear here besides the hisses of stuff that the system counts as something worthy to be killed, is the rings of crickets and other songs of the small animals.
Okay, back to reality.
He seems to be hesitating a bit but still decides to introduce himself.
"My name is-
