A spider is slowly crawling around the base of a large tree, it seems to be searching for something to eat. It continue its slow pace until it spotted within the wet bushes, a small dark brown frog, which is just jumping around, as if it is confused of the appearance of its surroundings.
The pure-white spider tried to attempt to sneak on the clueless frog, but it failed spectacularly when the frog spotted it closing in with that ridiculous color.
The frog rapidly jumped, aiming for a small hole under a tree, but it was all for nothing when the spider pounced with speeds beyond the frog's, and catched the poor frog under the strength of one of its legs.
It lowered its head and used its sharp fangs to crush the frog's body for digestion, its beady red eyes staring at nothingness. It stayed there for a few seconds, chewing the frog and swallowing it, bit by bit, but unfortunately for it.
The greens rustle as something big come running through, startling the spider's breakfast. Instead of running away, the spider tries to confront the figure that wishes to hunt it.
From the huge grasses came out a woman, with eyes glinting with bloodlust, confidence emanating from every inch of her body.
The spider jumps at the woman, and met a small metal dagger to its face, with its blade shining lightly from the light that pierced the cover of the leaves, and then proceeded to ram into its face.
The dagger did not go through the spider's body because of it being in the air, due to not truly taking in the entire force of the slash, and the direction at which it was aimed. Though it did manage to push down the spider and wound its face and abdomen slightly.
But the trajectory of the stab was downward, due to that, despite the attack's force being blunted, the woman continued redirected the force of his attack towards the falling spider.
It pierced the spider when the steady stature of the ground met the spider's back, its blood spelling out onto the earthy dirt.
The spider cried out in pain, wriggling its appendages in an attempt to survive, but ultimately dying out. The woman whispers something, after which, the entirety of the spider's body disappeared like a glowing mist.
I am kind of getting the hang of killing these spiders, their presence is frequent and moves in a predictable manner. Though I should start slowing down in my hunt for small creatures, things could go bad if something unpredictable happens.
This rash move is worth it though, I am even closer to my goal, I just need to kill a few more spiders or other small animal in at least the same weight class as the spider and I could buy that skill in the store.
I look deep into my body, concentrating my mind in trying to summon something from within the reaches of my body.
The darkness and nothingness dominates what I can see, or rather feel with my mind, but slightly-white colorless strands slowly start obeying my call, and proceeds to reveal themselves slowly from every part of my body.
I command it to flow through my body towards my head, and it all started moving under my order, like wisps of light that bends like the waves but more superior due to its mystical nature. They arrived inside my skull, and mingled with the flesh of my brain and proceeded to concentrate in one of my eyeballs.
This all happened within only a moment or a second, sure it takes a lot of time to activate especially for a minor skill and when I am in danger but this is perfect for my current actions.
This is one of the 2 important things I got in yesterday's hunt, Supernatural Energy manipulation skill: Energy sensing, though it is closer to Energy sensing sight or eye due to my modification of how it works.
Unfortunately it didn't become a true skill recognized by the system, meaning I have plenty of room to fill so it can even be considered a true skill though it can be argued it is a fortunate occurrence.
The other one I got or bought from the store is this dagger I am using, it is just a normal dagger but it is very useful due to its lethality against any normal creature, and it is rather well made if I were to evaluate it with my blank resume in evaluating weapons.
I activate Energy sensing sight, activating it for only an instant in the direction in front of me, but more than enough to fulfill its purpose. If people looked at my face at the moment of the skill activation, they would see my left eye's pupil turn white, well if they believe it to be there when it is faster than a blink of an eye.
I turn to look at my back and activate it again for the same amount of time, this 2 actions is something that I have been doing the moment I started hunting for the day.
Through this, the amount of creatures and the general strength of a creature's size or strength in my front and back is revealed, the back part for making sure that something isn't sneaking up on me. It is similar to thermal vision but it can ignore inanimate objects and can see several tens of meters in just a single activation.
From what I have caught, it seems that there is nothing behind me and loot is abundant right in front of me, though the light from where the leaves doesn't touch is telling me that another 24 hours is almost done, I should kill as much weak creatures as possible, competition will slow me down if I don't exploit this opportunity.
I proceed to stride in the opposite direction of where I came from, to hunt more beasts for the sake of me getting stronger.
I silently sneaked upon a small green snake. In one move, its head flew off from the rest of its body, blood flowing slowly from the headless flesh, and bones. I immediately salvaged it with no second thoughts, quickly moving to the next target I sensed
After a while of moving through dense shrubbery, I stumbled upon the thing and readied to attack with my dagger.
I sent my dagger hurling towards a black rabbit, piercing its throat causing it to only run for a few seconds before falling down due to the injury. I pull out my weapon and blood flowed again due to me from the rabbit's body, its body dispersing because of salvage.
Onto the next one
Hiding within the tall grasses, my eyes is fixed upon the body of a deer, its body mass greatly higher than most creatures I have been hunting. It is just there, sleeping peacefully, completely unaware of the danger of its surroundings. I jumped and sprinted towards the little thing.
It was alerted, letting out a cry as my figure rapidly approaches it. I pounced on the deer with an attack on its hind legs, my attack only inflicting a wound on the deer's leg because of its rather fast reaction speed, though it was a relatively large one.
The deer tried to run but its speed is greatly slowed by the gaping wound, and in another jump, I grasped the deer's neck and with all my arm's force, plunged the dagger into its neck, ending its short life. The deer gurgled in its own blood and mustered out a muffled cry with the last of its strength before going limp.
I stand up with the wisps of light slowly disappearing from my body and the ground where the deer's body originally were. My body slightly shivered for a second, after which, quickly moving to move to another target while activating the skill again for scouting and cautionary measures.
I continue this slaughter to fuel my progress, forming a trail of blood in the path I have taken. Sometimes, flashes of memories appear when I see the blood followed a warm memory but they are quickly suppressed to make sure that I am focused in my goal.
I stopped when I felt like the environment suddenly changed. Yesterday, the environment changed when a day passed, the change was not subject to sight, smell, or touch, one just feels like something definitely changed. It seems it changed again right in this moment, and I can feel it due to my skill.
When I bought the skill, I managed to feel or sense supernatural energy from the environment, it is like an occasional and weak wave of air, but the energy is either colorless or too weak to be seen by the naked eye. I noticed changes in the atmosphere when the strength and frequency of these waves of energy increased by a few times, exponentially enlarging the amount of energy in the air.
I immediately used my energy sensing sight and turned 360 degrees to survey my immediate surroundings, and noticed 3 large energies that burns in magnitude similar or even larger than what I would emanated or looked like from my own skill.
I crouch in an attempt of trying to lessen my presence, in a bid to avoid detection, and start thinking about my next move when my immediate area has 3 things that could possibly hurt or even kill me.
Northwest 77 meters, Southeast 46 meters, and South 23 meters, are the locations of the new arrivals from my quick look. The Northwestern one has the weakest signal, with its strength being slightly weaker than mine, while the strongest signal, giving an energy signal more than 50% stronger than mine is the southern one and also the closest.
"Tsk, this is bad, I am not going to be complacent and assume that these creatures can't sniff me out, it is better safe than sorry. Though before any tries at escaping, it might be best to see if I can take a steak from a tiger's mouth," I thought as I silently start moving towards the northwestern creature, intending to ambush it.
The greens that I go through gives off light sounds as I move through them, the wet dirt caving in under my weight as I move.
I activate Energy Sensing skill, seeing that my new target has barely moved, I am assuming it is still digesting its surroundings. I continue until I arrived, hiding only behind a bush before I can see the creature.
"Hopefully, this goes well," I thought with solemn anticipation.
