Rebirth Of The Divine Businesswoman

Exhausted by the whole day's affairs and still stressed about my decision of staying at this house, I plopped on the bed. 


When my body hit the bed, I started struggling to keep my eyes open. And that's when I realised how tired I really was. I quite literally slapped myself to stay awake for a little longer, at least until the hustle had stopped in the house. 


Well, it didn't go as planned. My eyes automatically shut off and my brain was sending me all kinds of signals to stop thinking and start sleeping.


[A/N: Ik I took it from the quote 'stop thinking start doing' but well this is the procrastination version of it😁🤭💅🏻]


Just as I was going to sleep like a baby, something worse happened. Now, I know you'd be like what could be worse than staying in a stranger's house in rainy season and that too in a hilly area but trust me when I say it was worse than that...


I heard a loud blood curling scream, it rang in my ears for some time. It sounded like a child's scream moreover a female one. I felt like I was gonna pass out that exact moment as I covered my mouth to stop my own scream from coming out.


I got up that exact moment, packed my backpack and grabbed the lamp in the nightstand. I went to the room's door and stuck my ear to see if I could listen any conversation. 


Annddd guess what I heard, it was like an axe cutting a huge piece of wood again and again. 


Along with every axe thump, I could feel my heart racing faster and faster to the point I never knew it could.  


I silenty retracted back to the bed and was going to sit when suddenly heard a knock on the door. 


A quiet female voice almost whispered, "Child, are you all settled?" I got chills all over my body and the surroundings became eerily silent. 


I knew my whole body was shaking like a leaf but tried my best to reply in a stable voice, "Who?" 


The voice chuckled softly which resulted in me sticking to the corner of the furthest wall. She said, "I'm the wife of the old man you came with, love. I hope you have a nice stay here. Good night~" 


The footsteps sounded down the hallway. And I sighed in relief, I sat down on the bed with the lamp in my hand and sat still the whole night ready to leave as soon as the sun rose.
