Kayla's POV
I stayed seated on the couch watching Jasper and Jace running around the place playing tag with the other little kids. I was getting my strength back, but not by a long shot my body still hurt when I shift around in the couch. Tyler kept glazing my way checking if I was still on the couch, where he and Ciara had left me. I had told Ciara and him to gather up the people that had wanted to come, because I was unable to.
"You can count us in," some people said. I turned my head into that direction and saw that the ones that had said that were Coach Martin, the two teachers, Mark, James, and surprisingly Jackie.
I nodded "Ok," I said with a smile, but it didn't reach my eyes.
"Us to," said half of the other group that we had met along the way.
I nodded "I see some of you wish to stay and I understand," I said, as Ciara and Tyler made their way back towards me. "Do you have your stuff ready?" I asked them and they nodded. "Very well," I said and looked at Jace and Jasper "Jasper, Jace get ready," I told them and they looked at them with understanding. They knew we'd be leaving, so all they had to do was say goodbye to their new friends and walked towards me. I got to my feet unsteadily, but I didn't fall so that's a plus not falling flat on my face in front of this entire people. I looked around me and saw every face in this place of every men, women, and children. Some of them looked away, but other kept their gaze at me.
I felt Tyler lift me up into his arms "You can't walk yet and you're not going to force yourself," he said and started walking towards the double glass doors; I could hear the footsteps of our group. Jasper and Jace were at my left, while Ciara and Caleb were on the right side. We walked out of the mini mall and never looked back.
Dean's POV
I had this weird feeling on my gut that something was going to happen soon, but I wasn't sure what it was. I didn't tell my father about it he had enough to worry about with the killing of his second wife and not having a word from my half brother and sister. I didn't know my half brother and sister in person, but father has talked to me about them and told me everything about them. And from what I know they should be able to live through this.
Two day ago we had an attack from the dead. There was so many of them that were had stayed up all that night till morning shooting and fixing the gate. Dad wasn't happy about that, but he had ordered everyone to stand watch, so that the others could fix the gate and get done without any interruptions from the zombies. I had gotten to stand watch in the front of the gate by him and I knew I could learn from him. The way he took command in the scenarios like this and the way he ordered everyone just to keep organize.
I was walking towards my dorm, after having finished my watch for the day when someone called me. "Dean," my mother's voice rang.
I stopped and lucked behind me with a smile "Mom, what can I do for you?" I asked her. We hardly looked like mother-and-son the only thing we had in common was the black hair and that was it. She had smooth ivory skin, hazel eyes, slim but curvy, while I had pale skin from my father, violet eyes from my father, but full lips like the both of them.
She chuckled "Nothing, Dean. I just wanted to say that you did well out there two nights ago," she said to me and her eyes said it all. She was proud of me like any other parent.
I smiled wider "Thanks mom," I told her, but I also hoped that dad would feel the same way. I want to make him proud in my own way hoping to take his mind of things and just make him proud.
She placed her hands on my shoulder "Lance is proud of you too, Dean. Your father just doesn't like to show it," she told me and I was filled with hope. "Why don't you go to him?" she suggested.
I nodded "I will," I told her and started towards my father's room, which was only a few doors down from my own. We were living in a Academy that we had just stumbled upon, when we were attacked and we were trying to get away from those damned things. The Academy was very big, but without a fence so we had to build one and we had the gate down in ten hours. Yeah, we had trouble since the zombies were freaking everywhere, so it was a little hard and only one of our group died. The zombies made lunch out of the guy.
I had reached my father's room and knocked "Come in," I heard him say and I walked in. I found him on the couch with his eyes closed. He had brunette colored hair, violet eyes, strong jaw structure, built, and pale skin.
"Dad," I said.
His eyes snapped open and a smile appeared on his face "Dean, I'm glad you came to visit," he said in a tired tone. I've been noticing that he has not slept well in this day from all the attacks we had.
I walked over to him and sat on the couch by his feet "Did I disturbed you?" I asked him.
He shook his head "No, I was going to go looking for you in a little while," he told me. "I wanted to tell you something," he said and sat up into a sitting position.
I looked at him a little confused and curious "What were you going to tell me?" I asked him getting a little impatient wondering what he is going to tell me.
He smiled wider "I was going to tell you that I am proud of you, my son. I saw how you were doing, when I was shooting. You made me proud that night and I'm very proud of you. I'm very good at saying how I'm feeling or when I am proud, but I wanted you to know that I am always proud of you. I don't want you thinking that I am not, my son," he told me and I saw one tear escape his left eye.
I was shocked and speechless. He had just said he was always proud of me and that I made him proud that night too. His crying, I thought as I tried to get my voice back. "Thank you, father," I said to him. "I've wanted to make you proud in my own way," I told him.
We both stood up at the same time and looked at each other. My father came towards me and gave me a one-arm hug "Remember this, Dean. You are also my pride and joy not just your brother and sister. You are my child just like they are mine and I will love you no matter what, so don't think for a moment that you are being neglected. You, Tyler, and Kayla are my pride and joy in this hell and I do not want to lose either one of you," he told me in my ear.
I felt tears running down my face "Dad, you know Tyler and Kayla aren't here," I said with my tears and I felt his body shaking as he cried.
He chuckled "They will come and they are well, my son. I know it they don't die easily not when they have Kayla," he said and I did not know what he meant by that.
I frowned "What do you mean?" I asked him.
He sigh "You will know if she makes it, but I know they will and with survivors," he told me and let me go with a pat on my back. He cleaned his eyes with the sleeve of his shirt "Now, go to sleep. I want you on your best," he told me with a smile.
I chuckled "Alright, sleep well," I told him and walked out of his room to mine. I went to take a long hot relaxing shower; while everything that my father told me was repeated inside my head making a wide smile appear on my face. He is proud, I thought as I washed my hair and body. When I was done with my shower and brushed my teeth, I headed to my bed in my boxers putting my alarm clock in time I had to wake up. I had to wake up at six in the afternoon to keep watch with Luke and Jake. I fell asleep before my head hit the pillow.
Kayla's POV
We had been walking to hours in this retched state. We had found a couple of Walker's, but everyone had stayed and just walked carefully watching where they placed their foot. I was back on my feet my wounds didn't hurt had much and I found out that from just touching my brother they would heal, but didn't heal as fast as I wanted them though I could walk and do my own tricks. The only cuts I had left was a little slash on my neck and a medium slash going across my chest, but both of them were already healing. At least something good came out of these powers of mine.
Some of the people had gotten new clothes and shoes from the stores inside the mall, some toothpaste, and some other things. Ciara had gotten some medical things, while I was past out and had gotten me some new clothes as well. We just hope we could fine a bathroom to take a shower, because we smelled kind of like onions and I hate the smell of onions.
We were walking by another town and the sun was going down meaning we had to find shelter soon, before night fall or we would get into a mob of Walker's without noticing it. As I walked I noticed something that was like a miracle to me and everyone else, but they haven't noticed yet. I stopped on my tracks. There only a few feet away were at least forty motor homes and drivable too. You know one of those trucks that are a house and there were right in front me. I must be dreaming or I finally went to hell or heave. Oh, whatever as long as I get my shower, I thought.
"Guys, look," I yelled and pointed and heard some gasps, but then heard cheers. I looked at them "Well, what the hell are we waiting for?" I said and took off running towards the motor homes. I think they could fit in like four people in each one, so since we were thirty-four people (I finally counted how many people was in the group) we could take eight motor homes.
When we got there, Tyler ran inside and got the keys from the store and gave them to people who could drive. Everyone got in a group of four and went to their motor homes, while Tyler, Jasper, Jace, and I went to our. When I went inside I felt like I was in heaven, everything was clean and it actually had space for four people with only three beds. And more importantly it had a bathroom with a shower.
I tried to get in first, but Tyler beat me to it meaning I had to drive first. We took off after ten minutes of figuring out where to go and we had full tanks, but you know what shocked me the most. Jasper had found walkie talkies and had them placed in my backpack with batteries. The kid learns fast, so we had enough of them to give them to each person and turned to channel twenty-two.
"This is Alpha, we're stopping for a moment to change driver," I said over the walkie talkie and pulled over, while everyone else stopped and waited for me to get on the rode again. I looked at Tyler "Your turn, bro," I said as I got out of the driver's seat and went into my backpack to get my clean clothes. Jasper and Jace had already taken a shower and were in bed asleep. They looked like angels, when they were asleep.
Tyler took over "Don't stay in the shower for to long," he told me with a smirk on his face.
"Smartass," I grumbled, as I got inside the bathroom with my new black jeans and Slipknot t-shirt. I love that band, as well as Muse and Evanescence. I turned the water on and stripped my blood clothes off and an idea popped in my head. Why don't I try burning my old clothes? It's not like I'm going to need them anyway. I closed my eyes and concentrated thinking about the heat and how it felt, but nothing happened. Shit, I guess it only comes out in my pissed off scenarios or when I'm in emotion overdrive, I though disappointedly.
I sighed and got into my shower and it felt so fucking good. Thank god my period past, because I would not know what I would do. I would die from embarrassment or just be pissed off. I think I would be pissed of. What do you think? Anyway, I washed my hair and body, after that I brushed my teeth and changed into my new clothes. I am never taking a house for granted ever again.
I walked out of the bathroom refreshed and very tired. I went over to Tyler and kissed him on the cheek "Wake me up, when it's time," I told him and walked over to the kids and kissed them both on their forehead. I went over to the big bed and get in it felt soft, but a little ruff too though it felt very good. I went asleep before my head hit the pillow.
