Chapter 2: The Frying Pan, part 5

When Gordon got to the machine, he found that it was covered with rubble.

"Blimey! How are we going to relieve her of her position if this is broken? Did you do this, GlaDOS?"

"No, I did not. I just found it this way. You must have broken it when the facility was crumbling under your care."

"Whether or not I broke it, we still have a plan to get up there! *whispering* So, first question, can you fix it and second, do you have a backup plan if it doesn't? Oh right, you don't like to talk. So, um, I guess I will just have to wait and see."

Gordon dropped Wheatley and started using his gravity gun to remove the rubble off the machine.

"Ah, it looks like it is still operational."

"Congratulations, you discovered the truth. Give the bot a prize."

"I knew that you were lying. Otherwise, you wouldn't have been able to replace me."

"Did you figure that out before or after it was working?"

"It doesn't matter, I was smart enough to think of it."

"Obviously, he didn't figure it out before."

"What if I wanted you to think that so that you would underestimate my smartness."

"You've already proven you're a dunce. Why do I even bother arguing with you?"

While this dialogue is going on, Wheatley is placed in the machine and ascends to his former lair. GlaDOS then begins a monologue.

"You know, so many fascinating things come in three. The Trinity, winner positions, the first digit of the number of degrees of a cake…"

"Don't you dare bring cake into this!" Wheatley exclaimed.

"Would you let me finish. Anyway, there seems to be a threes thing going on. You, Wheatley and that gun; I, the bomb chute in my machine and the bomb-proof sheets that Wheatley was kind enough to provide"

"I did not deliberately give her them."

"The fact is that this is the third attempt to override a supposedly corrupted A. I. – not to mention that that was three threes. It's like fate is predicting a victory for me; after all, three times a charm."

"Ok, we get it, can we just get this over with?"

"Well, if you're that eager to prove yourself, let's see who fate favors this time around."

After the usual corrupted core procedure up to the stalemate portion, GlaDOS began summoning the sheets from the floor of the lair to form a maze. As Gordon stood there, facing towards GlaDOS and away from Wheatley, who was still in the machine, Wheatley began instructing him on what to do.
