Chapter 3: The Ambush, part 5

GlaDOS: "I honestly would have stopped the crow from attacking by blaring the test subject buzzer in its vicinity; however, I saw Wheatley fall into old Aperture; therefore, I am not obligated to perform that task. So then, on to the next phase of my plan to prove that I can trust you. You will have to come to my original lair – with or without your gravity gun. Don't worry, there won't be any tricks this time; just cake, cake so… delicious that Wheatley would wish he was there. I will direct you how to get there from here. Go back to where you came from, go into the neurotoxin generator area, find the Implosion Observation Annex, and then search until you come across an office with a broken, accessible pneumatic tube inside."

Gordon followed GlaDOS's instructions.

"Next, you will need to go into the tube, up the stairs, and into the next chamber. I will set up some moveable panels so that you can reach the entrance to the lair. I will handle the rest when you reach it."

When Gordon reached the lair, he noticed an enticing smell coming from the cake underneath GlaDOS. The smell was so irresistible, and Gordon was hungry enough that he found himself moving towards it.

"Years ago, Aperture Science discovered a very potent way to stimulate the olfactory areas of the brain thanks to a botched recipe for Black Forest cake. I haven't used it until now as its ingredients are not lethal. I have also put truth serum into the cake so that I can find out what you are here for.

Gordon Freeman staggered to the cake and began devouring it. Soon, he began explaining about the Combine and the Borealis to GlaDOS.

"Hmm, so that's why you are here. I could have guessed that. For my sake, I will help you get to the Borealis. Just go down this broken elevator shaft to your left to reach old Aperture. You can use the gravity gun to break your fall down the shaft. Continue until you find Aperture's 1950's facility. I will direct you from there."
