Clytemnestra goes to Enzo's house trying to find out about his whereabouts.
The female Blue eyed guard says in a bored and rather annoyed tone, "Ma'am? Where are you going?"
"Are you allowed to speak so rudely?"Clytemnestra says with anger showing in her darkened Green eyes, her face holding a horrified expression, "I'm going to the Amber's house, the Heads of the society."
"Yes ma'am!"the male Blue eyed guard says nervously, a look of fear etched on his face as he scurries to open the gate almost falling face first.
Clytemnestra holds back a giggle at his flailing limbs that almost hit face first into the ground. When he finally opens the gate Clytemnestra walks through with her green high heels. The leaders' house is at a dead end, where the Amber society finally comes to its end. Clytemnestra walks past many Amber-colored homes just to reach another Amber colored home that resembles a castle, but it is a very high building made from mostly Amber-colored glass and bricks. There are many flowers surrounding the building as well as a lot of green grass and trees. There's even a long-abandoned Amber treehouse resting in a tree with pink and white flowers on and around the tree. Clytemnestra approaches the Amber door, so she can finally approach the people she's always feared.
"Hello ma'am, sir," Clytemnestra says politely to the 'royal family', "I'm looking for Enzo..."
"And who are you to come and make inquiries?"Enzo's father asks in a kind of rhetorical way, but still expecting an explanation as his anger boils to the point that his face is red. The fact that she used his sons name and her color is lower angers him.
"I'm sorry sir, I was just worried about my friend," Clytemnestra says as she swallows hard due to her nerves and his blazing look.
"Huh! Friend!" Enzo's father exclaims rudely, he's flabbergasted at the nerve she has to make such claims over his son, "we know you are dating. You should be ashamed, he's a minor. He's sixteen-years-old."
"Sir, I swear we aren't dating," Clytemnestra says fearfully as she realizes that what Enzo told her is true and there's nothing she can do to change it.
"The government took him to train him strictly and that's all I'll be saying to someone like you since I don't have to explain myself,"Enzo's father says and then slams the door in her face leaving a trembling Clytemnestra.
Clytemnestra walks along the tarred road back to the gate and through the hundreds of Amber homes that are few in comparison to the other colors.
As she walks up to the gate and they open it for her, the female guard makes a comment, "She's not so tough now." The guard scoffs and chuckles at her state. "What did you say?" Clytemnestra asks rhetorically, because she heard the words she uttered under her breath.
In her rage, Clytemnestra takes out her expensive green phone and reports the woman using an app made by the government.
"Wait ma'am, please! I have a child at home and I don't have a husband. If you do this she'll be put into the system. Please, you can't do this!" the woman says in a panic and in tears, as she begs her on bended knees.
"I don't care! Rules are rules and you follow them. Understand!"Clytemnestra exclaims giving the woman false hope that she'll give her a second chance, but ending up proving true to her color personality.
The government officials come and take the woman away while she's sobbing.
Clytemnestra decides to call Amzi, on her way home, so he can come and do work in the house and so she can see his face again. Soon after, there's a knock that reveals a handsome Hazel boy.
"Amzi Hazel! You're finally here!" Clytemnestra says while smiling as she opens the door wide and sees his Hazel eyes shining through.
"What would you like ma'am?" Amzi asks with a glum look, but he can't glare at her since it's disrespectful and he's trying his best to hold back his anger.
"I would like you to please fix the kitchen sink!"Clytemnestra says with a large smile as she leads him to the kitchen not even caring to notice his feelings.
Amzi sighs.
"Is something wrong?"Clytemnestra asks him with care and worry etched on her pale freckled face.
"Don't worry ma'am, its personal," Amzi says with annoyance clear on his face because she's prying into his business.
He then starts walking towards the kitchen so he can start working on the sink leaving Clytemnestra to tail behind.
"Does it have anything to do with me?"Clytemnestra asks cautiously as her hands fall to her side as a sign of defeat.
"Sadly, yes ma'am,"Amzi says honestly while he works on the sink.
"Can you please tell me then?"Clytemnestra asks impatiently while she shows a clear sign of concern as she knits her eyebrows.
"Promise to let me speak my mind?"Amzi asks as he turns and looks at her face for approval to be free to talk.
"For sure,"Clytemnestra says kindly as she watches him get up to face her to discuss the issue.
"It's your fault Dysnomia ended up being taken to a government driven school!" Amzi says and he sees her attempt to defend herself, "I'm not done! And then, the one family that was good to me and Dysnomia, in fact they were good to everybody. Giving us jobs constantly even though they were barely getting by."
Amzi eyes fill with sadness and anger, he faces her and stares her down while she looks down ashamed. The guilt in her face is evident.
"How'd you know?"Clytemnestra asks as she attempts to look Amzi in the eye.
"Everything is reported with names, details and reasons," Amzi says honestly, while he looks at her and realizes she really didn't know.
"Look! I'm sorry! I can't control it anymore. I used to be able to, but I can't anymore,"Clytemnestra says as she walks closer to him, shaking her head and feeling regret.
"Well I graduated too," Amzi says seriously as he gets back to finish the job he came for, "hasn't changed me drastically at all."
"Well I'm sorry to say that I can't control that part, but one thing I know is I really like..."Clytemnestra says but she's interrupted by Amzi who says, "Food?"
As if saying, please don't speak your mind now, in this house that you know is monitored by the government.
"Yeah exactly, but specifically apples," Clytemnestra says while she stares intensely at him, "with caramel." Amzi looks at her like she's lost her mind.
"Let me finish this kitchen sink for you," Amzi says hurriedly and clears his throat. Its his way of telling her to back off because he's not interested in her at all.
In the government run school, the day starts.
"We will be covering the rules of the society we live in, because its vital for you guys who don't want to follow them," the Amber eyed officials says strictly, " can someone tell me some of the basic rules they know?"
A young Amber girl gets up and says, "College is only for the Grey's. Brown's don't really need an education. Hazels learn their trades from their parents or someone else. Greens grow up knowing their future. Blue's have places where they're trained to be police officers, chefs and teachers, but its not a college. Ambers go to a government school where they're trained to be leaders."
A young Amber boy gets up and says, "You can only go into designated shopping places, but things like restaurants are for Grey's, Green's and Amber's. Any sort of vehicle is for Hazel and up. Entertainment and luxuries like phones and televisions are for Greys and up."
"Rule number one, lying isn't tolerated,"the official says monotonously but nods at the effort of the Ambers.
"How would you know we are lying?"a student asks in an assembly of about a hundred students.
"Its obvious through proof!"the Amber lady says rudely to a fellow Amber.
"Look lying is a trivial rule," says a Brown and everyone nods in agreement. That's the best things about this place, everyone is on the same page.
"Rudeness to higher ranks will not be tolerated from this moment onwards," the Amber lady says as she stares at the Brown girl who's glaring at her.
"So no one can speak their opinion and clear their misunderstanding, but we must follow whatever you say," an Amber boy exclaims with anger in his eyes, but he speaks the opinion of everyone there because everyone nods at his words.
"We are trying to teach you ranks here and your place," the Amber lady clarifies, like they thought it was a vacation.
"That's what everyone's been doing anyways so might as well just stay outside. Here everyone should have a say," another Amber boy says in a kind-of protest.
"I refuse for anyone to speak rudely to me if of a lower rank, so state your opinions formally with no threats implied or evil intentions lurking in your words,"the Amber lady says with a lot of pride and power emanating from her words and dressing.
Dysnomia looks at Enzo, Mireille and Socrates. After the assembly, where only Amber's spoke and all other colors got punished, everyone left for a break since its a Thursday.
"It's so unfair," Dysnomia says in annoyance, "only Ambers could speak and no one else. Even the Brown's, Blue's, Grey's, Green's and Hazel's who weren't being rude, it's so unfair."
"Yeah life's unfair," Mireille says as she recalls the reason she's here in the first place, "I'm graduating soon, well most of us are, so I'm just trying to leave but I don't know why anyways. I'm going back to my horrible and new family."
Enzo sighs and says, as they walk through the field of grass behind the school, "Yeah I understand, I just can't wait for life to be over honestly, then all this stress will be gone."
Socrates just stares silently at the green grass and the colorful flowers and tress. The sound of the ones being punished echoes throughout the school, all the way to the field. They make their way back into the school and the sounds get louder.
"Do they have to echo it? It's not going to change how everyone feels. Its going to make them hate the government more," Dysnomia says with frustration and annoyance clear on her face, "they call this a school but its more of a prison."
"Are you guys excited for the eye check tomorrow?" Socrates asks seriously as he tries to change the subject of conversation.
"What check?"Mireille asks curiously, since they haven't been informed of one.
"The eye colors are being confirmed again," Socrates reiterates for clarification.
Dysnomia's eyes widen and then return to their normal state as she stares at her friends as they walk throughout the school hallway.
"Is there a way you might not do it?"Dysnomia asks hurriedly which catches everyone off guard. Everyone turns and looks at her curiously, her face then eases and she smiles.
"I'm just asking out of curiosity,"Dysnomia says sweetly as she tries to hide her nervousness.
"Well I guess if you get sick, cause the eye color isn't clear, but how you are going to get sick in a day beats me," Socrates says as he catches on to her real thoughts and feelings.
Dysnomia sighs and Enzo stares at her disposition, she seems stressed and a tiredness has overtaken her whole being.
"I'll walk Dysnomia to her dorm room,"Enzo says as they walk across the white carpeted floor that contains the rainbow of the eye colors by rank.
"Deal! I'll walk Mireille,"Socrates says kindly knowing Enzo wants to talk to Dysnomia about her sudden change into being an introvert.
After walking for a long time, they nearly are at Dysnomia's dorm room when Enzo decides to talk.
"Dysnomia? What do you know that we don't?" Enzo asks out of curiosity.
"Nothing,"Dysnomia says and smiles as she looks at his face, her heart melting at his sincere expression of care.
"Lets talk in the field, it's noisy cause there's a lot of people there,"Enzo says sweetly not dropping the fact that she's still not herself.
She nods and follows him. They make their way to the ever green grass field blossoming with flowers of all colors. Free from ranks of importance, all loved for their beauty.
"What do you want to talk about?"Dysnomia asks innocently like all the worries she had a second ago vanished.
"What do you know that I don't?"Enzo asks sincerely, he wants her to know he can be trusted.
"You're the government's child, why would I tell you anything,"Dysnomia says seriously as she stares at his Amber eyes that hold the future he has attained.
"Look I'm here for a reason. My parents don't approve of me, but prefer to threaten me with a son that might turn out worse than me due to his upbringing," Enzo says with frustration, because he feels betrayed and hurt by his parents and their choices.
"Here's a clue! When you got him, did he remember anything about himself? Ash?" Dysnomia asks politely and sees his eyes stare at her with fear and wonder.
"No he didn't and you know him?" Enzo says and asks in shock his eyes betraying him as they swirl with a thousand emotions.
"I've lived in an orphanage almost my whole life, that seven-year-old boy was good friend of mine. So sweet, too caring, too naive. One day, they told me he got adopted. I asked just to say goodbye. It was granted. When I said goodbye, he said, 'Who are you?'" Dysnomia says with sadness, her Brown eyes filling with tears.
"Wow! Any other clues?"Enzo asks enthusiastically, because he feels like he's being enlightened as he sits beneath the shadow of a tree on the green grass of the field.
"One you might not like so I'll leave it for now. Lets see then! Where do you think my family is? Who do I resemble?" Dysnomia asks with excitement clear in her face.
"I honestly have no clue,"Enzo says as he looks at her, then he puts his head down and scratches it in thought.
"I know the whole system Enzo," Dysnomia says with sadness in her eyes and a distant look as she examines a yellow flower, "all kids are removed of memory at a young age if adopted, at seven to ten years of age because from six and below memories aren't really made."
"Wow!" Enzo says in amazement at her vast knowledge as he wonders how she knows more than a government child, "you're so smart! How?"
"People ask me that all the time, but I never answer. I'll tell you what I tell them. I don't know,"Dysnomia says with a darkness in her eyes and she lies straight to his face.
"So no more secrets anymore?" Enzo asks glumly because he was hoping she'd reveal more to him.
"Not for now," Dysnomia says because she notices his eagerness to know, but she knows the dangers of him knowing.
"How 'bout a riddle then?" Enzo asks hopefully.
She nods.
