"Master of my fate, captain of my soul." I repeated then remained silent for a minute or two. "Henley wrote that because we simply have the power to control our thoughts. Being the master of your fate and the captain of your soul, simply means it's you being capable to control our thoughts. Before we can accumulate riches in great abundance, we must magnetise our mind with intense desire for riches. Someone once said a man who doesn't think of how to make money in the night time cannot make money in the daytime. In summary, what we think about matters." I rambled, yes, I seriously just finished making unnecessary noise. What I'm trying to say is I should have just cut it short.
"Good." Mr. Max said simply and shortly. "Henley could have easily written it this way instead of writing what thousands will not be able interpret but no because...."
"He's a poet not a philosopher." I blurted out, I really need to learn self control. Mr. Max remained quiet for a few seconds.
"Yes, that's exactly what Napoleon said. So we must think our ways into riches. The fact is we have to arrive in our mind of riches before we become rich. The truth is riches begin with a state of mind, followed my passion, burning desires, consciousness, persistence and a lot more." He walked back to the board, looking at his watch. "Our time is up for today. I need all of you to go back and think about this. I will take questions next class and even additional thought. Remember to positively think your way into more wealth." He said, packing his things to leave the class.
They all started getting up, moving out of the class. I shoved my empty note back to my bag and also stood up. Almost everyone was already out of the class, the strange guy walked out with the girl Alex was talking to in the hall. I was about to walk out when Mr. Max stopped me.
"Aurora that was brilliant, I must say. Just be concentrated and don't get distracted, I promise it will pay. " He said seriously. I just offered him a little smile and walked away.
"Hey." Alex called, walking towards me.
I smiled at him.
"That was good."
"Thanks." I uttered.
"You just got here yesterday right?" He asked.
"Yeah." I replied.
"You'd be the kind of adventure type." He muttered.
"Why'd you say that." I said smiling.
As I walked I noticed some girls staring at us. Either with curiosity or hate or jealousy. Some of them did not even care. What can I say? I can't lie and I won't fool myself. Alex is actually a cute boy with a well structured face; I mean those kind of guys that girls do refer to as god or whatever. He has white hair just like me, making him unique, he's tall and..... Just handsome.
"Did you follow the piano sound?" He asked, not answering my previous question.
"You could say that." I replied shrugging.
"That why I said that. What's your dorm number?" He asked, changing the topic.
"Dorm 35." I replied briefly.
He tilted his hands, obviously trying to remember something.
"Mira and Lizzy room?" He questioned.
"I just know one person called Mira." I replied as we both climbed the stairs.
He just chuckled. "It's normal for them, you'll get used to them and get to know them too."
"Get used to, get to know." I repeated.
"Yeah." He answered not wanting to go further. "I'm going to see you for the house games right?"
I started at him trying to remember.
"Yeah." I finally replied.
"Do you know where it holds?" He asked as we both stopped walking.
"No." I said, aware that I might probably get lost again.
"First you're new and secondly, you don't have the best roommate a new student will ask for. So I'll help you." He said, I just smiled at him and waited for him to continue. "Meet me here by 9:27 "
"Sure, tired of getting lost."
He just chuckled and walked away.
"Nice talking to you again Aurora." He yelled.
"I guess you need to sing nice to meet you by Megan Trainor." I mumbled under my breath.
"What." He screamed.
I widened my eyes in surprise, surprised that he actually heard me.
"Nothing." I screamed back as I couldn't stop the blush that appeared on my cheek. I just turned left walking to my dorm really fast. I opened the door and walked inside. The girls were nowhere to be seen. I glanced at the clock fully aware I still had enough time.
I knew what I wanted to do was odd and unnecessary. I scrambled to the bathroom, allowing the cold water to cascade down my body. After few minutes, I came out drying my hair. This school had different uniform for different things, games alone had different types of uniform. I picked up a large shirt and a free short which was stopping halfway of my lap. I tied my already dried hair into pony tail, I released a free hair at the front and curled it. I wore my earring and necklace. I did all other necessary things like wearing my converse, applying lip gloss....
I glanced at the clock and time was almost 9:27 , just few minutes to it. I stood up ready to leave the room. I walked out and moved to where Alex asked me to meet him.
"You're one minute late." Alex said without looking up.
"While you're right on time." I replied, I looked at Alex, observing what he was wearing. He wore the same uniform I wore, his shorts stopped at his knees. He had a white converse on and his hair was neatly kept.
"You're unashamedly checking me out, not even caring." He said sounding amused. I just shrugged.
"Was just observing a male specie. So what?" I asked
He just chuckled softly.
"Let's move." He said leading the way.
"At least, you wore the same as mine." I said, walking fast to reach him.
"Yeah." He replied, looking back at me. " You actually look more beautiful." He complemented.
"Well you look more uglier." I said.
"Thank you." He said smiling.
"You're welcome." I replied beaming.
"I hope I'll see you smile more often."
I just shrugged.
"So here we are." He said pointing to a large, spacious building. It had a large field for football, another for basketball, tennis, volleyball e.t.c There was a long hall or at least that's what it looked like in the other end.
"Big right?" He questioned. I just nodded.
We both walked and he led me to the large place that looked like a hall. People were scattered in different places, chatting or alone. We stopped walking as a man came to address us not minding the position of the student.
"To the new student, I am Mr. Shane and I am in charge of the games activity, indoors and outdoors. Partly in charge of your sport activity too. I'd advice all the new student to come forward to fall into their various house and groups. There's five different house, your house leader or representative will explain to you; under those house they are different groups. The groups were created to help people in the same house compete against each other and there must not be more than six in a group." Mr. Shane said.
"Aurora here is joining my house and group." Alex screamed putting his hands around me as he led the way to his group.
His group members were not exactly what my brain could have pictured at first. They all started at me as we both walked towards them.
