CHAPTER THIRTEEN

Nathan pov

"How's Karen?" I asked.

"She's fine, she says she misses you." Scott replied then shrugged.

"Tell my mom the same." I said shortly.

He just nodded.

"What about Ashley?" I asked again.

"She's fine." He replied. "And Mia?"

"Her usual self." I replied.

He furrowed his eyebrows even though he understood what I said.

Scott walked in front of me in the passage. I wonder why Scott and Mia don't get to have a normal relationship. My Mom does not say anything about them even when I feel like she absolutely knows something.

Scott looks more than his actual age though. He's forty but look more like a 35 year old man. I guess years of hard work, experience and lots of things resulted to this. The most amazing thing about him and my mom was that they didn't even use their parents money to have what they have but they still achieved it and got what they wanted. Scott was a man that even his presence screamed the word respect and he had a really powerful Aura that will make ordinary men scared to stand before him.

"I believe you heard about Deborah death?" I asked. I wasn't surprised I didn't see any change in his expression.

"Sure." He replied maintaining his blank expression.

"And?" I asked.

He raised his eyebrows at me.

"You know what I mean." I stated flatly.

"She had a disease."

"So the disease killed her?" I asked.

"I believe you know the answer to that." He said dryly.

"What kind of disease?" I asked persistently.

"One that kills people." He deadpanned.

I just snorted. I looked at him with a face demanding answers.

"One that the doctor is still trying to detect." He finally said.

"So her body is still safe?" I asked.

"I hope so." He said

"Seriously?" I asked really amused.

Scott stopped then turned to me. His height should have intimidated me but I've known him for too long.

"Nathan, I think you should mind your business. Do what you have to do in this academy." He said still looking at me.

"And if I don't?" I asked stubbornly.

"You have yourself to blame." He said.

"Is that a threat?" I asked raising my eyebrows.

"It's a warning, rather, it's anything you would like to call it."

"You can't be serious." I said wanting to shrug the topic off. This is not the first time he said something like this.

"I am." He said menacingly. "Besides you don't want Karen to go mad, you're not just her only son but only child for life." He added then started walking again.

"I know that." I said following him behind,"What do you plan on doing?"

"Like?" He answered dryly again.

"Anything, like having to...."

"Drop the topic." He said demandingly.

"But why?"

Scott just glared at me.

"Fine, just kind of surprised by her death."

"Nothing should surprise you." He said turning towards the passage of where is office is located.

I just released a long breath then turned the opposite way. I climbed down the stairs and noticed as some girls kept looking at me. Well I'm sure about this action in most girls.

I sighted Mia walking alone far from where I was. I started walking fast to meet her while some girls were busy smiling at me; smiles I've never cared to return.

"Mia!" I screamed and ran to catch up with her.

She looked back then stopped walking.

"Oh hi Nathan." She said as I got closer.

"I saw Scott today."

"Really?" She questioned bored.

"Yeah, what's with the both of you?"

"Nothing." She replied briefly.

"Seriously?" I asked.

"Nathan I said nothing really." She said slowly.

"If you say so." I shrugged.

"Yeah I said so." She said again.

"Not like you're very close to Ashley either."

"Drop the topic." She deadpanned.

"You see, like....."

She glared at me making me stop.

The reason why I was about to say that.

"By the way, how's Ashley?"

"Logically, I think that question belong to Scott because I'm also in the academy like you."

"I believe she calls you." I said back.

"She don't tell me how she feels." She retorted.

"Mia wow, you're quite but a Savage." I said.

"Yeah thanks, she's forever that moneyful woman."

"Mia I don't think that word is in the dictionary."

"It's in her own dictionary."

As we were walking a girl was pushed by her friends to fall on me, so, I could get hold of her before she falls down then the girl will start blushing and her friends will think they have achieved something. Will this girls ever learn?

They're making a mistake. I'm not Alex who would have pitied the girl and prevented her from falling. I am Nathan.

Immediately the girl almost came close to me, I quickly moved back making her fall with a loud thud on her face. I am not a wicked guy but I don't have time for jobless girls who don't have anything to do.

"Fuck." She girl cursed. She raised her head embarrassed and her friends quickly ran to her while the other girl close by were busy laughing and muttering "serves her right", "she's so ugly, so why did she even dream of it?" I just continued walking with Mia who shook her head in disapproval.

"Where's Alex?" She asked.

"Am I missing something?" I asked teasingly.

She glared at me

"No I'm not. I am just being a brother keeper unlike you." She said.

"Wow." I said.

"Where?" She asked.

"I don't know, in his piano room? With Aurora?" I said.

"With Aurora?" She questioned.

"He never stop talking about how weird she is, so i wouldn't be surprised."

Mia just raised her eyebrows at me then shrugged.

"So, when are you planning to see your mom?" I asked.

"Don't ask me that." She said.

"And you?" Mia asked again.

"Sooner." I replied.

"Or later?" She asked.

"I said sooner unlike you."

She just rolled her eyes then walked towards Alex piano room.
