CHAPTER FOURTEEN

I rubbed my eyes lazily and turned again for the umpteenth time trying to sleep. I suddenly noticed the kind of energy the room was emitting; a negative energy. I still laid still but then, I heard an angry hiss by no other human than Lizzy. I quickly stood up and glanced around.

I was right about the energy. Lizzy looked very angry while Mira had a blank look on her face. I sighed too loudly because they both turned their attention to me.

"Morning." Mira mumbled.

I just gave her one of my little smile which faded away as soon as it came.

"Lizzy laptop was stolen." Mira said.

I was about to speak but I remembered what the mystery teacher, Mr. Sam said about the thief in this academy, challenging us to get whoever the thief is.

"So there's really a thief?" I quietly mumbled to myself.

"Yes." Mira answered calmly.

I released a longer sigh

Mystery. Mystery. Mystery

"I guess you better check if you still have yours."

"Was yours stolen?" I asked Mira.

"Nope." She replied popping the p

"Dammit." Lizzy spoke angrily. " Fuck whoever did this!"

"Who the hell is this thief?" Mira asked herself putting her hands under her chin.

I focused on Lizzy as I studied her behavior. She was over acting, overreacting. It was more than just getting angry because her laptop has been stolen. It was obvious there was something more to this. She was shaking involuntarily, trying to hide her vulnerability but somehow I could see it no matter how she tried to mask it. I knew she was panicking inside, she was scared but scared of what? I could see the fear, the terror, the intense dread and fright in her eyes but it all disappeared as soon as her gaze found me.

And now, I couldn't read her expression.

"Staring is rude." She commented angrily. I just turned away and sighted my laptop sitting comfortably where I kept it. It looked untouched but on a second glance, it looked like they have touched it. I furrowed my eyebrows and walked slowly to it then knelt before it. I don't know why I'm having this funny feeling but I know this is not how I left my laptop. I turned it on but it somehow still looked untouched. I continued staring at it wondering what was wrong.

"Aurora?" I heard Mira call. I turned to her and gave her a little fake smile then watched as Lizzy stormed out of the room hurriedly and angrily.

"She's got a temper." Mira said as she stood up, walking towards the bathroom.

But I knew it, I knew it was no tempter. It's something, something is definitely wrong.

I remembered when Mira said I shouldn't let curiosity get the best out of me.

Everything is definitely wrong!

***********

"Want to got out under the rain." I flinched as I suddenly heard a voice. I turned then came face to face with Nathan.

"What are you doing here?" I was about to stutter surprised but I quickly composed my self.

"Honestly, I know I should be asking you that but nevertheless, I was taking a walk around when I noticed a shadow. The curious me came here to figure who it was standing at the passage." He said shrugging.

"Okay." I replied briefly.

"So?" He asked again.

I just shrugged in response.

"I'll take that as a yes." He said smiling.

He grasped my hands and pulled me out under the rain.

I just looked up at the sky watching the rain fall to my face and a little smile found it way to my lips.

We were both standing, doing nothing under the rain.

"Found someone who loves rain too. For all I know, almost everyone don't want to get wet." He mumbled staring at me.

I wasn't looking at him but I could feel his intense stare.

I grinned in response, still not looking at him.

He took few long stride towards me and stopped two steps away from me.

"You know I've been wondering..." He started but trailed off.

I waited patiently for him to continue but he was silent. I turned to look at him as I caught him staring at me. He looked like he was dazed.

"You've been wondering?" I asked.

He finally came out of his dazed moment. He looked like he was about to say something but he obviously hesitated.

"If you've found this academy amusing." He said with a charming smile on his well structured face.

It was my turn to remain silent as I contemplated on what to say. I glanced at him but he was looking somewhere else. I watched as the rain made his blonde hair to fall on his face which made him cute. Nathan was actually a really handsome, cute guy with a face and body thousands of jobless girls will daydream about. Yes, jobless girls.

I have never really had a crush on a guy before. I only admire cute guys. Admiring guys, I believe prevent me from crushing on too many guys unnecessary. I don't want to get easily fascinated, infatuated and obsessed like other girls do.

"I must confess, it really is intriguing." I said having my hidden meaning behind those words.

Nathan stared at me for a long time again before his lips finally moved.

"Sorry I'd have to be the first to leave but I hope we'll see again Aurora." He said bowing slightly like gentle charming prince.

"I hope so." I replied smiling as I watched him leave.

I knew he wanted to say something. I just couldn't figure it out.

It feels like he left with my longing and desire to be outside, watching the stars on the sky and allowing the rain come down to me. I exhaled then turned around to go to my dorm.

I was gently and slowly walking but stopped when I noticed a faint figure climbing the walls. I took a deep breath to calm my nerves then tiptoed to where I could get a better view of whoever it was. I studied the figure and noticed it was aiming at my room window.

I had to do something, I knew it. What if he/she took my laptop? I sure as hell don't want to disturb my dad for another laptop.

Oh, cut those craps! I'm just making excuses and I know it.

In reality, I know I'm curious, curious to know who it is.

I quickly picked up a large plastic from the floor and aimed at the person feet. Luckily, it hit whoever it was right on the spot and the person lost his or her footing. The person came crushing and crumbling down. I didn't mean to hurt the person and I'm sure I will save the person. How? I'm not sure about this answer but anyhow though.

The person was about to crash on the floor but quickly tightened his grip on something in the building. I walked closer and noticed it was a male.

"Fuck!" An older voice cursed. That voice, it looked a little familiar though. I walked closer again until I was just a foot away from him.

His he so dumb that he hasn't noticed my presence? How foolish could he be?

Good thing he hasn't noticed me. I slowly backed away from him watching him do something very irrational.

Slowly, he pulled off his black hoodie cap using his hands to to sleep his messy wet hair back then turned towards me.

We both shared the same expression at that moment.

Shocked!

I stared at him with horror, terror and shock.

"You." I managed to voice out.

Again, I looked at my mystery teacher, Mr. Sam. The man who warned us against the thief and challenged us to get him.

Something is definitely wrong.
