I swung my legs to the side of the mattress only to tumble on to the rough carpet of the floor. A horrible throb pulsed through my skull, it felt like screwdrivers were being stabbed into my temples. I grunted, but it sounded more like a pathetic attempt of a whine. My throat was severely dry and scratchy.

He approached me like he was afraid to break me by too sudden of a movement. I immediately noticed the dark purplish circles under his eyes that made his cheeks look sunken in. The shade of his skin was like bleached wheat, a color that made him look sickly.
