Chapter 6

Amy's mind drifted off as her father yelled at her. The healer of the pack was tending to her wounded leg while Squeaker was replacing Amy's scent with the packs. She stared out the entrance of the cave half hoping that Des would emerge then soon realizing how silly that actually was. Silently in her head she started to wonder how it would be if her feeling was true. Her dad's voice changing pitch brought her out of her trance.

"Are you even listening to me?" Yen yelled.

Amy looked at him and gave a curt nod. "Amy I can't keep throwing my weight around to save you from your punishment. You are a grown wolf now."

She continued to get scolded as the young alpha walked in. Every wolf stropped and gave him slight bows as he walked up to Amy, "How's your leg?"

Amy came up from her bow and slowly rotated it, "Its a little better."

The alpha gave a slight nod to the healer, "How long will she be down."

The healer stood as she addressed the alpha. "She is actually healing up very nicely. She should be good to walk by tomorrow."

He gave her a nod and with that the healer left the den. Squeaker stood next to her best friend as the alpha took a seat. He looked over at Squeaker and gave her a soft smile, "Thank you for helping out Squeaker."

She gave him a little bow as she hid her blushing face, "No problem."

"Squeaker can you go get Sal and Moon for me please? I need to speak with them."

Squeaker stood and gave another slight bow, "Yeth Alpha."

He chuckled, "Call me Matthew."

Squeaker blushed when she looked at him and he gave her a slight smirk. She turned and ran out of the den. The alpha then turned his attention back to Amy. Yen walked over taking a seat next to his daughter.

"So how much trouble am I in?" Amy sighed.

The Alpha shrugged, "None."

Both Amy and Yen shared the same confused look. Matthew laughed before clearing his throat, "Sorry. You aren't in any trouble as you have provided valuable information and insight."

"I did?"

"Yes. Now that we know the humans are moving in closer to our borders, all of the packs have come to an agreement that we will be migrating to avoid detection and a possible food shortage."

"Migration?"

Yen sighed, "We haven't had to migrate for over 20 years."

"I know, and I was hoping it wouldn't have happened during my reign. But, this matter is important. Also..." Taking a whiff of Amy the alpha nodded, "Glad to see your scent is back to normal. Now about that lone wolf..."

"I had no control over that, after I was injured by the humans he saved me and helped me get better." Amy stuttered.

"Whoa...whoa! Easy girl, I'm not gonna order a hunt on his head. In fact I want to meet him, I owe him thanks for taking care of one of our own. He didn't have to do that and I am grateful. You just focus on getting better, once we migrate to the new grounds we will give your hunt another go."

Amy nodded and the alpha motioned for Yen to walk with him. They left the den leaving Amy alone with her thoughts.

"Yen, I know you have reached the same conclusion I have." Matt stated.

"I have and I will be honest I am not too happy about it." Yen growled.

"Honestly neither am I but, neither of us have a say. We have to believe in the heart of the stars."

Amy woke up a few hours later and it was dark. Her fur was drenched in sweat and she was overheating. She saw her father was close to her snoring gently. She looked back at her leg and moved it around a little bit and while there was a small pinch of pain it wasn't as bad as it was. She moved and laid down close at the entrance of the den as the wind gently blew over her drenched fur The sound of rustling bushes caught her attention. Looking out to the horizon her ears flicked a little as she perked up. She saw some bright blue eyes shining among the foliage. Her heart started to race as she gently stood up and quietly limped, sneaking pass the guards and into the woods. As she got close her heart was thumping into her ears and she froze once she smelled his sent.

"Des?" She called out.

"Missed me baby?" He asked as he emerged from the bushes.

Amy nodded as she limped over to Des. Out of instinct she started to nuzzle him. Des growled gently, "I know baby, I missed you too."

"Are you okay? I was so worried when you fought with Sal." Amy asked as she looked over his body, her core temperature rising as she looked over his muscles.

"I'm fine love. How is your leg?" Des asked as he gently licked her cheek.

Amy let out a squeak as she blushed. "Its getting better. We are going to be migrating soon."

"I know, I have been invited to join you guys." Des nodded

Her eyes widened, "What?"

"Yeah, your alpha has extended an invitation to me."

"And..."

Des shrugged, "I have to think about it."

Amy nodded, "That's fair."

Des smirked a little when Amy leaned back nuzzling him. "Do you know?"

"I think I have an idea and even though you irritate me...I'm not completely against it."

"Won't be long now."

Amy nodded and gently touched her nose to his, "I know."
