chapter 21

Breckage stood there like a pillar, looking unperturbed as ever. Ridged. Unaffected by the boy across from him who had just sputtered up to reality. There was a frown that was hinged on his face but Breckage instantly fixed its curves as soon as he saw Aaron. Surely the boy would be nonplussed in all this, but Breckage wasn't. He knew what was going on. Had he known sooner this wouldn't have occurred.

"What the heck? I'm alive?" Aaron asked, suspiciously looking for a sign that revealed to him he was on another level.

"Of course you are. Just you and me."

Aaron saw something wrong with this picture. The other players in the game room that had been with Breckage didn't show any sign of movement. It was almost as if they were-

"Dead. That's right. You really are more capable than I thought Aaron Werkheiser. In fact more capable than all the players I've ever met."

"Y-You can't mean. You can't mean that I've finished the game?" Aaron asked.
