Ignorance Is Truly Bliss

"Well, it's time. Don't you think? You did proclaim your maturity as an adult, no? So, I thought I at least owe you this. A gift to your independence." Alistarr's manipulative tone doesn't reach Venus. All she hears is her own thoughts being vindicated, so she nods, a sense of pride burning in her as she sits up straight in her seat. She patiently waits in the plush brown chaise lounge, surrounded by the men she ate with earlier. However, as she waits for her brother to tell the story, she feels uneasy peering at the men around her. She scoots closer to Alistarr, whispering to him.

"Alistarr, are you sure you're okay with telling me this in front of them? I don't know these men, and this is quite personal." Alistarr looks at the group, then back at Venus with a reassuring smile.

"They have their part in this story too, so I think it would be appropriate for them to be here as well. In case questions arise." Venus looks at her brother with an uncomfortable smile, decidedly going along with his antics.

"Then, I suppose you may continue." Alistarr smiles and nods, starting his story.

"To be frank, Ven, I never saw mother and father as a mother or a father. Not because they weren't our mother and father, but because they aren't MY mother and father. I know that doesn't make sense, but I'll explain,"

"For whatever reason, ever since I can remember, I have had the knowledge of greater things: A divine above, a vacant, burning, bellow, and a flourishing, chaotic, in-between. People now call it Heaven, Hell, and Earth. That is quite familiar to you. However, my knowledge of Heaven, Hell, and Earth is significantly more vivid, real, and extremely different. So much so that I loathed the church. Everything they taught about the world was misguided and played to their own tune. So I pondered for a time why no one had stepped in, why no one knew the things I did. I was appalled by what was transpiring. Keep in mind that these things I remember were coming to me in waves of dreams at that time. Those dreams, nonetheless, had a significant impact on my way of life. Still, despite the limited clarity these dreams gave me, I had this uncomfortable feeling like something was missing. That was until a realization hit me. It struck suddenly and with no mercy. My job, no, my purpose for being alive, was to step in. To test and punish these people for being so moronically sinful. Where had I gone to get all this previous knowledge? It was this Heaven and Hell I recalled in my dreams. However, upon arriving at this epiphany, a wave of more personal memories came to me as well, no longer in dream form but as a normal memory would arise in your mind. I remembered my past with you, and with these men, I remembered that mother and father were not my mother and father. I remembered that this life was not my nor yours or their true beginning."

Venus looked desperately into her brother's eyes, looking for something that made her believe he was only joking, but she grew confused as all she saw was a growing conviction.

"Alistarr, what do you mean? That doesn't make sense. What you are saying doesn't make sense." Alistarr smiles at his sister warmly, brushing off her concern. He has a burning will to explain, and he will.

"I know, this is still all very vague, so I'll go deeper. You know the creation story in the Bible you learned? Adam made of dust and Eve made of his rib? That's not wrong, but they left out crucial details. Before Eve there was another wife. Another first woman. She was made exactly like Adam. Adam had a problem with seeming inferior to others— Those others being his wife, and to compensate for his insecurities, he was slyly belittling her until, one day, she had enough and ran away. Her name was Lilith."
