'Who attacked her??'

'How did she get those scars??'

'What happened in her past??'

'How is she related to the Tian Yi clique??'

'Why didn't she tell me about all of this??'

With all these questions going through his head, Mo Ting Xiao couldn't sleep the entire night.

He wanted to badly know the answers for all the questions that he had, but he was willing to wait…. Wait until she was ready to tell him about everything… He was willing to wait patiently for her till she would feel comfortable in revealing in her past…. Her pains… Her sorrows…. Her fears…

Mo Ting Xiao stayed awake the entire night hugging her close to his body as if he would lose her if he let go of her for even a moment.

"No matter what happened in your past, I will be there for you by your side in your future….", he whispered while looking at her face with gentle eyes.

He placed a soft kiss on the top of her head.

He spent the rest of the night either staring at her face or staring at the ceiling.

While in the Royal Palace.

"Your Majesty, Second Prince Mo has asked me to convey the message that he would not be attending tomorrow's royal court session as he has to take care of Her Highness who is injured.", Liu Chen spoke with a deep bow.

"What happened to Sis Chang Chang??", Mo Ting Ting immediately asked in a worried tone.

Mo Ting Ting, The Emperor and her oldest brother, Mo Tian, were drinking tea and having a light chat while sitting in the hall of the palace. They were sharing abut each other's time without the presence of the other person.

The Emperor and Mo Tian couldn't help but feel deeply indebted to Lu Chang Chang for taking care of Mo Ting Ting. Especially when they heard how Mo Ting Ting was doted on and taken care of by her.

Realizing that it was way past their bedtime, the emperor stood up with his two children and was about to ask them to go to bed. It was then that Liu Chen came in with the message.

"That….", Liu Chen hesitated a bit on revealing what happened on remembering what Mo Ting Xiao had told him specifically.

'Don't let them know that Chang Chang is still unconscious. Otherwise Ting Ting will get worried and cause a scene.'

He looked around the hall, seeing that there were guards and maids, it made him hesitate even more.

Seeing the reluctance shown by Liu Chen and how he was worriedly looking around the hall, the Emperor dismissed all the maids and guards, who then walked out with a bow.

This action made Mo Ting Ting even more worried. "What happened to her??", she asked in panic. She was on the verge of crying and her eyes were already red in the corners. Her hands started shivering out of worry.

Mo Tian stepped forward and held Mo Ting Ting's hand. He gave her hand an affirmative squeeze before looking towards Liu Chen.

"What happened to sister in law?", Mo Tian asked with an aloof face while still holding Mo Ting Ting's hand in his. It wouldn't be a lie to say that even he was a bit worried.

"Her Highness was found injured in a deserted alley way. It is assumed that she was attacked sometime during late afternoon. Her Highness is currently resting in the Yuan Zheng Palace.", Liu Chen replied.

He made it a point to avoid details like how she was shivering badly because she was drenched from head to toe and the rumor about scars so that he wouldn't make Mo Ting Ting and the rest even more worried.

Tears started flowing down Mo Ting Ting's cheeks when she heard that Lu Chang Chang was injured.

"I need to meet Sis Chang Chang now!!", she said and was about to take a step forward. But she was immediately stopped by Mo Tian, who held her hand and made her sit on the chair.

"Not now meimei. Let us go in the morning.", he said while wiping the tears off her face.

"But-", she started but was immediately interjected by Mo Tian.

"It's late. Sister in law would have only started to rest and Mo Ting Xiao might also be very stressed. If they see you at this hour, they might get even more worried and agitated… Let us go and meet them tomorrow morning, okay?? Hm?", he patiently explained to Mo Ting Ting with a gentle voice.

Mo Ting Ting thought about what her oldest brother said for a while before agreeing. It was indeed the best decision. Even if she went now, she might not be able to see Lu Chang Chang because she might be sleeping and she definitely didn't want to disturb her sleep.

"… *sniff*... hmm…", she replied with a nod. Mo Tian smiled and patted her head gently.

"Have a peaceful night, Your Majesties", Liu Chen wished with a bow before walking outside the palace. When he got next to his horse, he heard a few noises that made him stop moving.

Rustle... Rustle...

"Who is there!!", he said in a loud voice and drew his sword out. He was looking intently towards the grass-filled from where he had heard the rustling sound to see if he could find anything.

Two guards who knew him immediately came running towards him when they heard his loud voice.

"What happened Brother Chen?", one of the guys asked. "I think someone was spying on the palace from here", he said without lifting his eyes off the area.

Both the guards immediately turned their heads to look where he was looking at. But none of them could see anything significant. "Brother Chen, it might be some wild dog. There have been quite a lot of wild dogs roaming around the palace these past few days", the same guard said.

Liu Chen drew his sword back and thanked the two guards. The two guys just wished him a good night before walking to their positions.

Liu Chen stood at the same place, while staring at the area for a while. He had a feeling that that was not a wild dog.

After staring for a while, he quickly got on his horse and rode back to the Yuan Zheng palace.
