It takes a Lot of Work

Daniel wasn't sure how much time had passed with him and Richard working quietly. He had piles of paperwork he still needed to do despite everything that he had been working, but it was the curse of expansion and having new members requesting permission to become VIPs.

While he did greatly appreciate it when they attached donations beyond the membership fee that they were required to pay as part of the request, the club owner wasn't so desperate for money that they would take it as bribe and just anyone pass. He still did the general background check and reviewed them based upon any other current or previous club memberships that they had in order to make sure that they wouldn't end up being trouble.

It took him a lot of work to maintain everything, but the results of it all were well worth it to him. Roses & Whips had come along a lot further than he had expected it to and he didn't want to ruin it's reputation after all this time by falling into a lot of the familiar pit falls that many of the other clubs did that got them shut down or cost them their reputation.

He wanted to keep the same integrity he started the club with, even if it meant it took him longer to remodel and build up the club when compared to other who took the other route.

He also felt better about his decision as it was something he had brought up to Melissa before when it was bothering. She had considered everything that she told him, but came to the same answer he had - it wasn't worth the trouble.

Instead, he would either grant them membership and explain that if they wanted to donate extra money, there was a better process to go about it, or if he rejected, he would explain why and return the money to them.

It wasn't just him that he had to worry about involving in that type of trouble also, many of the women and men who worked in the VIP area or upfront would be impacted by the decisions he made as well. Daniel refused to do anything that could put them in a bad situation or risk them being exposed or forced into anything they didn't like. He expected all of his guests to treat his employees with respect even if they did have sexual relations with them behind closed door when they came to visit. That was no excuse to treat them poorly.

Richard though far less forwardly friendly as he was felt similar about how those who worked at the club should be treated. Part of the reason why Walter had been hired was because near the beginning, Richard would often be the one to intervene in the issues and because of his lack of authority in not being a employee at the club, things didn't always turn out the best between him and the other party.

Richard wasn't one to be drawn to violence, but if people didn't listen when he tried to speak rationally to them, he had no problem taking it a step further if he needed to in order to get his point across. The club owner was honestly surprised that he never saw that often bleed over into his more intimate relationships since there was little thing he tolerated well.

Surprisingly though, the other always seemed to know how to treat his female partners depending on who he was with and what was going on. He knew that one size didn't fit all and sometimes small modifications to the relationship needed to be made for it to work out. Without of course any compromise in terms of what he would consider to be his hard boundaries, those had never moved for anyone once he realized what type of things bothered him and what he couldn't handle women doing.

"Are you planning on staying here all night to finish that? I thought you had work in the morning." Daniel commented as he leaned back in the chair so that he could stretch, his back was stiff after sitting one position for so long. Richard didn't look up from what he was doing as he replied to his friend.

"I do have work in the morning, but I am almost finished with this part and would prefer to be done with it before I stop for the night. If I don't, it'll be annoying to try and come back tomorrow to pick up where I left off and try to remember what exactly I was thinking about twelve hours later." The club owner chuckled at his friend. He couldn't relate to that problem as he had gotten used to leaving notes for himself to remember where to pick up after he stopped working on something to either retire for the night or move on to something else.

"Do you think that you will still be done on time?" The other didn't reply right away as he continued to focus on what he was writing down and sketching out before he stopped and turned to look at Daniel.

"That's not something that I can answer right now. I would say yes, but I don't know what my work schedule for this work is going to look like or what other problems might occur between now and this upcoming weekend." He replied as he sighed lightly while looking over the document, he needed to account for time to get it all rewritten and made digital for easier use.

"I also need to work with Ember prior to going official with any of this as well. It's better to have some practice done before opening up for the real thing. Especially since she isn't used to any of this."

"Are you really sure that she was the best choice for you since she's new to this lifestyle and you don't seem to exactly get on the best when you're together." Richard didn't miss the hint of amusement that was at the back of his friend's voice.

"That's precisely while I chose her. Establishing a profession relationship isn't the same as worrying about an intimate one. By the fact that she doesn't like me before we start a professional relationship, it decreases the chance that I will have to worry about her catching feelings while she's working with me." He explained, taking on a small breath before he continued speaking.

"While I know that there are a number of the women who are employed here whom work well with me that would have no problem doing this, I wouldn't be able to allow it because of the intimacy factor involved. This is a professional job only, not one with the intention of picking a partner at the end of it. The risk is higher with them than a stranger that they would get the wrong idea and think that something was going to come from this."

"You've really thought all of this already prior to taking on this job didn't you?" Daniel probably would never stop being impressed with how much thought his friend put into everything that he did even if he never said out loud his reason for or not doing something, the club owner knew that he rarely gave answer without considering other factors first.

"If it's something that we want to be successful, then it is necessary to do so before we can move onto any further steps. Now if you'll excuse me, I have finished what I wanted to get down and I intend to leave for the night."

"Right, I'm going to be here for a while longer so don't worry about locking anything up behind you. I might leave the club open a bit later tonight since the turnout hasn't been bad." Richard just nodded his head in acknowledgement before leaving the office and closing the door behind him.
