Changes

Darah was beyond excited and trying to hold in her chuckle but when she couldn't hold it in anymore, she only seemed like a crazy maniac to Ryu.

"What are you laughing about?" He raised a brow.

"No it's nothing!" Darah grinned while she turned red. You idiot, hold yourself together. Has your sanity left you!?

After a long time, I can finally go home. Will I ever see them again? Lyra especially. Because she cared a lot for me and somehow reminded me of my sister.

Darah smiled to herself. Was this going to be goodbye? She didn't want to ask Ryu as they sat in silence.

"Oh and what did you do with her?" Darah asked all of a sudden.

Ryu had an interesting smile to his face when he heard that.

"I was intending to teach her a lesson. But I couldn't ignore your request so I left her alone after a brief "reasoning". She was fired anyway."

Darah stared keenly into his seemingly emotionless black eyes. He shrugged, as if he had done nothing wrong. After a short while of staring she finally retracted and took a deep breath. Maybe he was telling the truth. Ryu smirked. Unknown to her, Dana was on life support in a room far away from theirs. How would she ever know? Dana deserved it anyway.

"I hope what you're saying is true… She did a horrible thing to me. But I don't wish the worst on her. I just want to talk with her after this. I want to know why she did this." She said in concern.

Ryu didn't answer to that. Why did she want to save someone who tried to kill her. He couldn't understand. Was her resolve that weak? He clenched his fists.

"That is only possible if she's still around to see you. As in, if she's willing to see you." Ryu said coldly. He didn't ever want to see that woman's face again but Darah's request made him have second thoughts.

"Take rest for now. If Eliza allows, I can get you home by tomorrow evening." Ryu got up from his place.

The next day huh. Darah almost forgot she was in the hospital for a moment. She nodded weakly.

_____

"Anny trust me! She never goes this long without answering my calls! What if… what if that guy I set her up with did something bad!? Oh shoot I forgot to ask her about him!"

"Hey! She probably hasn't fixed her phone yet!" Anny tried to calm her down.  May had broken up today with her boyfriend and Darah vanishing off from her contacts made things worse for her.

"I don't know Anny but for sure her voice didn't sound great the last time I talked to her and it was bugging me ever since!" May leaned over the kitchen counter with a hand to her chest.

"Why don't you do something tomorrow? Go over to her place and see if everything's ok." Anny made a suggestion. She was worried too hearing that but if May saw for herself then that could calm her down too.

"Alright! That's a good idea!" She smiled.

_______

It was almost nearing midnight. Standing outside the hospital corridors, Ryu saw a man rush to him in a hurry in the heavy rain. He watched carefully as he ran up to him and bowed  respectfully. It was one of his guards.

"Sir. Can I get on with it?" The man asked eagerly.

Ryu was looking at the rain outside with a faint gaze. He had never wanted to step back from a decision so bad. He had entrusted the guard to kill Dana here itself.  If Dana was killed at the hospital, and if a police search followed as an action from her family, there won't be any proof as to catch him. He'd provide enough proof to how she slipped down the long set of stairs and hurt herself. And he won't be pointed fingers at since he took her to the hospital in time.

But now Ryu didn't know what to say.

"Boss?"

"Let her be. Just make sure she never enters my premises again."

Ryu took a deep breath as he leaned against the wall, closing his eyes. The man nodded in confusion. His boss was so adamant on killing her off but what now? He wasn't the one to step back from his decisions.

"Ok boss." He said hesitantly and walked away. Ryu didn't plan on leaving the hospital tonight. Even he himself felt stupid on why he suddenly made that decision.

"Idiot." He muttered to himself, popping a candy in his mouth. Lyra had introduced the idea to get him to quit smoking when he was still a teen. Now he was a candy lover instead. The fruity flavour burst in his mouth as Darah's words echoed through his mind.

She was fierce enough to accidentally kill a stranger when she saved Lyra. But kind enough to let Dana go unharmed? Darah Chen was one confusing girl…
