About an hour passed as Devin and Darah kept pondering about the situation. After a few minutes, Darah gave up and began to play Subway surfers on Devin's phone. In between Eliza came over to collect blood samples.
"Does your body hurt anywhere?" Eliza asked to confirm.
"No I'm fine." She replied politely, her eyes still on the game. Devin watched her carefully. Even though she was trying her best to look composed, Darah was in a dilemma thinking about what could've happened back at Ryu's place.
"Let me go!" Eliza glared at Luca who purposefully stood in front of the door to irritate the young and pretty doctor. Devin noticed he'd been bothering her so he stood up and went to her.
"Luca. She's a doctor. Stop irritating her and let her do her job." He ordered sternly watching the young man's now weary face.
"Yes sir!" He nodded and immediately listened to him as he moved to a side. Eliza sighed and thanked Devin as she left. He immediately punched Luca lightly over his stiff abdomen earning a yelp.
"What's with you!? Is this your first time around a lady?" Devin whispered with a glare on his face.
"A lady as cute as her, yes." Luca smiled to himself.
"If she complains again, I'm kicking you out. Behave." He ordered. Luca put on a serious face and nodded. Behind Devin saw Darah still engrossed in her game.
"Are you done?" Devin asked as he snatched the phone from Darah's hands when he saw that she was thinking about something. Her poor heart was troubling her so much. I hope Ryu listens to my request. I hope nothing dangerous happened… She then looked at Devin with a glint of doubt.
"About earlier, don't you feel anything? What if she was killed?"
"I wouldn't care!" Devin said a little louder than he should, making the latter jerk a little in her bed. This was the nth time they were fighting over this. Feeling frustrated at his sudden anger she looked away.
"I'm sorry. But it's my true feelings. She deserved it…"
"What do you mean!? Deserved death? For what!?" Darah was furious. Her head hurt from shouting at him so she kept both her hands on either side of her temple in pain. Devin held her shoulders gently to calm her down. Now that he noticed, she looked too cute when she got angry. Seeing him smirk, she lost it again.
"Are you really that insensitive Devin?" She asked weakly as she leaned on the headrest. He scoffed, looking at the ceiling.
"I've seen worse, Darah. This is nothing to me. You'll maybe someday understand what I meant by why she deserved it. People who can go this far can do worse things to you." He said casually while relaxing over the chair. He noticed that her face was twisted away from him in anger. A weak smile played through his lips.
At least you're safe. That's all that matters... He thought to himself. He slowly got up, looking at the time. He had a meeting to be at and was already getting late.
"Bye for now. We'll meet some other time." She still didn't reply so he gave her a soft tap on the back of her head before he left. Darah was so engrossed in her thoughts that she hadn't noticed him leave nor seen a new figure enter the room. Seeing her face twisted to the other side so firmly he gave a gentle tap on her shoulder.
"What, I'm not looking at you unless you listen to me!"
"Listen to what ma'am?"
The voice sent chills down her spine as she turned to look at who it was. A tall figure towered over her with a surprised look that didn't suit his serious face. Strands of his straight thick hair scattered over his forehead in a messy pattern…
Darah smiled unknowingly, seeing him suddenly. Like as if she was in a dream… Wait what's wrong with me! Stop smiling, you look like an idiot!
She tensed over the bed and immediately put on a serious face.
"I-I thought you were someone else."
"Hm… Understandable." He had a gentle smile seeing her energy, but she was too tensed to notice it, looking elsewhere. Suddenly a figure appeared from behind him and engulfed Darah into a warm hug.
"I'm so glad you're okay!" Lyra closed her eyes and smiled thankfully. Darah felt her heart race, not in anxiety this time but out of happiness. Why do I feel like I've known them for so long? I feel comfortable… and safe.
Ryu was watching them with a look that was undecipherable. He suddenly felt like he was missing something. Darah noticed it but why did he suddenly look… sad?
"I've brought you fruits. And chocolates. My shoot for today was cancelled so I can be here with you I guess." Lyra held her cheek dearly and sat by her side.
"Wait, a shoot? Did you grab the role!?"
"Yes!! I was on my way to tell you!" Lyra's eyes were shining like a hundred bucks. Darah felt so proud of her and hugged her again. They stayed in a hug for a while until Ryu coughed, breaking them out of the position.
"I'm here too…"
"And what about it?" Lyra replied snarkily as she got up with her hands crossed below her chest. When Ryu said nothing, she smiled, realising she had to let him say what he wanted.
"I'll be right back, Darah." Lyra made an excuse and left, leaving the duo alone in the room. No please don't go, Darah was screaming internally. Not leaving her alone with this meanie.
She tensed again, seeing Ryu pull a chair to her side and sit there. Her eyes kept wandering between his gaze and other things in the room.
"Are you feeling well?"
Darah was surprised. He was a bit too nice today.
"Y-Yes…" She replied, a little uptight. But then she relaxed and looked at her lap. Because you saved me...
"Thank you." She said in a low voice but needless to say Ryu looked impressed.
"You're very patient with me today. A day without fighting with you, is like a dream. Have you considered smiling when you thank someone?" He smirked, trying to purposefully irritate her. Darah didn't reply, pursing her lips.
"Since I saved your life, can I expect a favour?"
She squinted her eyes at him. Of course he saved her only for a favour! What a joke this man was.
"What's it going to be this time? Keep me hostage for another few months? A year?" She asked daringly but it only appeared like an angry toddler to Ryu. He smirked…
"You're awfully talkative today. But that's a good sign that you're getting better." She gave him a doubtful look.
"That's not what I was trying to propose. I need a promise from your part that you wouldn't make a wrong move, that is if you want to go back home." He said seriously. He knew Darah was getting tired, stuck in a situation she didn't wish to be in. Moreover she didn't seem like a threat anymore.
Darah's eyes gleamed at the words. Why was he being so nice today!? Such an impressive offer!
"Finally!" She smiled, but Ryu didn't look too happy.
