The Kingdom of Glacier had been relatively peaceful after that incident, the memory vague in the mind of it's citizens. The sweet aroma of pastries baked diffused throughout the Kingdom.
Following it's trail, the jingle of a bell could be heard. "Cake!" A child yelled, relishing in the aroma as he took a big sniff.
Using a large spoon, a male with a bowl in hand, hit the head of the young boy.
The young boy holding his head, wincing in pain. Rubbing the pain, he looked up at the towering height of the male, "You're huge! Why did you hit my head?"
"Shh..." the male placed his index finger on his lips, the large spoon which was covered in flour sprinkled it's content on his forehead. "Is that how you speak to your elders? Did your parents never teach you some respect?"
"..."
The young boy mouth filled with air, trying to stifle a laughter, he shook his head in reply.
"Speak up young man, why do you disturb our bakery with your nuisance? Where are your parents?" The male looked over the boy's head, expecting the bell's jingle signalling the presence of the little boy's parent.
"They... they umm..." He looked to the side, sniffling, his eyes tearing up.
"I'm so sorry little buddy," he dropped his bowl and spoon on the counter, kneeling, he pulled the young boy in a hug, staining his back with his flour stained hands.
Holding him, he pulled away slightly to get a better view of his face, "don't cry." he wiped away his tears, it was then he realized his hands was stained, in place of the trail of tears down the boy's cheek was the remnant of flour on it.
"What?" The boy looked at the shocked male who stared at him, zoning out. Feeling self conscious, the young boy touched his face. "You stained my face!" The young boy's scream bringing the male back to reality.
Reacting on impulse, he held onto the little boy's mouth, covering it, "Shh... you're going to wake my father." He cautioned.
"Mmmmmm..." The boy protested as this meant more flour stain over his mouth.
"Okay! okay, do you promise to be quiet?" The male inquired.
The little boy nodded in agreement.
Taking a deep breath, immediately wiping off the flour from his mouth, "How would your father hear us when he can't really well... hear us?!" The little boy said in a whisper.
Those innocent words from the boy pulled on a string he had tried so hard to push deep down in his heart. "Out." His voice sober.
"Allen!" The jingle of the bell signalled the presence of a jovial female whose voice boomed as soon as she dashed into the bakery. "Woah!" She did a double take, the first thing she saw was his stained forehead.
"Uhhh..." Allen facepalmed, "What do you want now, Camille?" He had never gotten used to her irritating overhyped behavior.
"..." She sealed her lips shut, trying her best not to burst into laughter, she shook her head, her hair swaying into a ball of tangled brunette mess.
°How can a female be so carefree and ?° Allen rolled his blue eyes as it met her onyx ones.
"Oh! Who's this?" She beamed on seeing a new face in the bakery, pulling on her tangled mess of a hair, trying her best to untangle it.
Angling her head to the side, she faced the little boy's direction, "Do you know this mean man?" She said in a high squeaky voice.
This earned a frown from Allen who was displeased at being called a 'mean man'." I certainly am not!" He protested, pulling the little boy closer to himself in what seemed like a protective hug.
The little boy squirmed in Allen's grip, escaping eventually, he ran behind Camille.
"I was right." Camille clapped her hands in victory. "Poor thing," she patted his head slightly, "by chance did he hit you on the head?" her lips spelling out something incoherent at Allen, her thumb glided over her neck as she shot death glares at him.
"He did!" The little boy put on a puppy dog expression, he was loving the doting attitude from Camille. He held onto her sleeve, rubbing his head.
"You took it too far this time Allen!" Camille looked around, grabbing onto a wooden bowl, ready to hit him with it.
"Miss, please don't, I'm the one who angered him." The little boy's voice stopped her in her tracks. The wooden bowl few inches away from Allen's head who braced himself for the impact.
"Why did you hit him Allen? If it were annoying customers as you say, I would have let it slide." She raised the bowl once more threateningly.
"He yelled without any reason, that could wake father." Allen replied, internally cursing as the word sounded just as bad as how he pictures it would be.
°Stupid excuse! Who believes that anymore?°
"Really?" Camille raised a brow in question, "We all know your father is faint of hearing, in what flipping years do you think he would be able to hear us from down here." Her hands akimbo, the light fast tapping of her feet resonating in the bakery.
Yet again, Allen was reminded of the sad truth. His shoulders stooped lower in sadness.
"What's your name little one?" Camille eased her grip on the wooden bowl.
"Lin." He gave a tooth grin.
"Lin..." Camille repeated, at the last minute she made claim with her actions, finally hitting Allen on the head.
"Ow!" Allen yelled, "how could you hit me because of a child?"
"That's exactly the point." She argued.
°Since when did Camille become so fiesty?° Allen rubbed his head to the throbbing pain.
"Would you like to know my family's shop?" she held onto Lin's hand.
"Mmhmm." He nodded in agreement.
"Let's go then, let's get out of this mean man's bakery. I'm sure he has a lot of work to do." She poked his nose playfully, earning her a giggle from him.
"Wait!" Allen called.
"What?" Camille looked over her shoulder.
"There has to be a reason why you dropped by the bakery, was my letter approved?" Allen's voice bright and hopeful.
°Oh right the letter! How dumb could I get?° Camille closed her eyes.
Reaching into her pocket, she pulled out a brown piece of paper which had the golden swirls designed on the edge, the crest of the Royal household sealing the letter.
"Does this mean it was approved?" Allen's hands trembled as he picked up the letter.
"You'll just have to open it and find out right?" Camille stated as a matter of actual fact.
