New World

Clouds. How could one describe it? It was as if falling into clouds, yet they were never ending. Was it actually falling? It was a similar sensation, but there was no form of panic caused by it. The only panic to be held was the fact that this was an unknown place, and it felt as if one had no power. The clouds themselves were colorful, all of them white but with tints of every color in the rainbow. One could assume this was heaven. Heaven, yet 'he' did not want to be here.

He felt a jerk and flew up an inch in his seat, causing him to wake up from his dream. "Oh yer 'wake? Good, we're just 'bout here at the city. Get everything ready, don't want you to miss anything hehe." An old man spoke sitting on one side of the rickety carriage.

"Thank you for inviting me onto the trip, I believe I would have been lost otherwise." A boy said on the other side of the carriage with a voice deeper than what his body would suggest.

"Of course! Hehe, after what you did it's the very least I could do. Oh and I promise to not tell anybody 'bout it, I can tell it's not somethin' you want people to know hehe." The old man said this more quietly as to not let the driver hear, though he kept a jolly smile on his face.

The ride kept on going for a few more minutes before stopping at the gate and then going again. A few more minutes later they stopped once more, signaling the boys stop.

"An' remember to show that paper to the president! Else I doubt you'd get all you need if anything! Good luck Del." The old man yelled out as the boy, Del walked from the carriage.

"I'll keep that in mind!" Del yelled back to him.

Now that Del was in the light, his appearance was far more visible. He stood at 5'5 and was skinny to the bone. He had brown skin bordering on caramel which accented his honey-like hazel eyes. His hair was black and curly, currently a mess. He wore a raggedy blouse and worn pants.

"Whew, finally here!" He said out loud, looking onto the large gate that stood in front of him. He stared for a fee silent moments before bringing to his chin and looking to the ride. His eyebrows then furrowed as he stared at nothing. "So do I just walk in?" He said to himself as he rubbed his chin. There were two guards out front who we're guarding the gate. While they seemed to be slacking a bit they nonetheless had sharp weapons which could definitely kill him.

He made a humming sound as he kept on thinking. F*ck it. He walked on over to the guards but stopped about six feet away from them. "Yo! I need to see the academy's president."

The guards both looked at him a bit for a moment finding his way of speaking a bit strange. The way he looked though, he must be foreign. "None are allowed to enter until the academy is officially open unless stated otherwise!" The guard on the left said loudly.

Del looked at them for a moment before pulling out the paper he was given. "This mean anything to you?" He said with a questioning voice.

The left guard glanced at the paper and kept the indifferent look on his face. "Nothing at all." The guard said before stamping his spear on the floor.

Del had to think quickly. What could help him right now? He had just arrived and he was already being given issues! It was fine though, there was something he could do that he was a master of. Bullsh*tting. "Oh really? Mmm, of course not. Too bad, at least whatever happens to you won't be my fault." Del said while putting the paper away. Step one, implant an idea, make them curious.

The guard on the right shifted his stance slightly, being a bit shaken by those few words. "What do you mean?" The guard asked, his voice unshaken but still worried.

Before Del turned back around to face them he had an impish grin on his face. As he turned back around he adopted a disregarding look on his face, a hint of superiority. "I mean it would only make sense that you two wouldn't be informed about why I'm here, but I'm nonetheless surprised that you wouldn't let me in. I shouldn't care though, it's your heads not mines." He said the last bit with contempt in his voice.

"Tsk, this kid is bluffing, his clothes look as if he attacked by a gang of bandits." The guard on the left said. He was trying to convince himself that the boy in front of him was lying. Why would someone important be wearing raggedy clothes.

"Exactly." Del said with a grin on his face ans pointing at the guard who just spoke like he got the answer to a question right. Both guards minds were filled with worry.

Minutes later Del found himself in front of the door that led into the president's office.

"If you need us we will continue guarding the gate sir." The guard said before hurrying off before he found any other way to offend the boy.

As Del watched him walk off he almost wanted to burst into laughter. That was way too easy.

He looked at it with some curiosity. He wished he hadn't neglected it in the last world, otherwise he would have had such a smoother life if it did what he thought it did. He sighed deciding not to dwell on it further and dismissed it.

He knocked on the door. "Come in." A husky voice answered loudly. Del opened the door and entered the room. Sitting at a large desk was a man who immediately looked as if he would stand tall within a group of people though his figure seemed to lean to the slim side. He had black slicked back hair and brown eyes that laid deep in their sockets. He has a rough jawline with a thick stubble that laid upon it.

The man was writing something before setting his pen down and looking up to Del. "So how did you convince the guards to let you in?" The man asked with a skeptic look, though his face hinted slight amusement.

"Charisma has taken me many places." Del said with a sly voice.

"Mm, interesting. My name is Bruce Shepard, but you may have known that if you came straight to me. Who are you and why are you here?"

"Name is Del. I was told to give this to you." Del said while reaching into one of the many bags that were on him. He reached out the paper from the old man and handed it to Bruce. Del then found a seat near the desk and sat, letting himself get comfortable.

Bruce took it from Del's hands. He unfolded it and read it from top to bottom. As his eyes scanned the words his face became more and more stern, a bit of a annoyance. Every few lines he would look from the paper back up to Del with a quick glance before looking back down and reading again. After a few more moments he opened a drawer and stuffed the paper inside before pulling out a couple of others. "Tsk, old man. Using his favor for something as trivial as this."

Del looked at Bruce and a grin appeared on his face seeing how Bruce was reacting. He quickly hid it before Bruce looked back to his face. He wondered what the paper had written on it having not been interested to look himself anymore. It was a fleeting thought so he stopped wondering quickly.

"Fill out these papers, then I'll test your manus amount." Bruce said as he pushed the new papers he brought out and a pen towards Del.

Del grabbed the papers and pen and started to write slowly. His mind wasn't very accustomed to the language he was using at the moment so he couldn't write as fast as he would in English. It was mostly things about himself and items he would prefer to participate in. After a few minutes he was done filling out the couple of papers and pushed them back to Bruce.

Bruce took the papers and set them to the side before reaching into his desk drawers once more. This time he pulled out something similar to a crystal ball will a more silvery shine which sat on a wooden stand. He slid it over to Del and gazed at him. "Place a hand on it for the manus test." Bruce said.

Del looked at it for a moment. He still didn't know what manus was. He didn't want to look like an idiot for not knowing but he really wanted to ask. He would probably learn later. Hopefully. Without further delay he brought his left hand out and placed it on the silvery crystal ball.

A few silent moments passed before an orange flicker appeared in the ball. It was a short flicker, disappearing just as fast as it came. Del pulled his hand back feeling that he wouldn't get any further results. He looked up to Bruce to see that the man had a disappointed look on his face. "Shame" Bruce simply said before getting on up out of his seat.

"I'll teach you now I suppose, not much else to do today anyways, follow me." Bruce said while signaling for Del to follow him. Del promptly followed Bruce out of the office.

About an hour later Del found himself in a large classroom all by himself. Bruce was pretty direct about teaching. At least he seemed this way at least. The way he taught, he seemed to not try and give any ideals or beliefs, only teaching what was most effective. During this session he mostly spoke about basics, like what Del would be learning and foundations of his first classes which would be hand to hand combat.

As Del listened he watched as his system would tell him about his skills rising such as hand to hand combat and strategy. The system seemed to use even the smallest parts of information. Del was only very slightly interested at this point though. These classes were more or less useless to him as of right now. He is from a modern world, where information on the body and combat knowledge was far more advanced. What he was being taught now almost seemed primitive.

Mid way through class Del took out a bronze coin he had found and started spinning it upon the table he sat. The room was wide and so the sound of the coin spinning was heard loudly. Bruce stopped his lesson and looked to Del. "Am I boring you?" He asked with a annoyed tone.

"More or less." Del answered simply as the coin in front of him fell flat. He picked it up again and spun it once more. He stared at it, not even looking up to Bruce. He was thinking that maybe if he recited what he learned it his world than his skills may rise far faster.

"Tsk, brat. Follow me to the field then, let's see what you know." Bruce said as he stomped out of the room. If he were to be teaching this boy for the next two months he would have to teach him to be more respectful.

Del grinned an impish grin. He got out of his seat and grabbed the coin mid spin. This is what he had been waiting for. One could always use theory and school teachings, but experience was a whole other thing. Time to show off then.
