Chapter 009: Are You Deliberately Trying to Make Him Lose Face?

Su Li was someone who typically didn't care much for dressing up, perhaps due to the nature of her work. As a screenwriter, her life was very homebound.

She was different from Su Qin, who was active on the screen and couldn't afford to be negligent about her attire. But for Su Li, convenience was key, regardless of the cost—after all, as long as clothes could cover the body, they were good enough.

She rarely wore skirts, and the few that she did own were bought because of Lu Wei.

Considering the so-called propriety she had to learn today, Su Li thought it over and figured that dressing up a bit was still quite necessary, given that she didn't know what the situation would be like.

Standing slightly over one meter sixty, Su Li was only of average height among women, but next to the towering one-meter-ninety Wei Chengfeng, she still looked quite petite.

Of course, Su Li's choice of skirt was still far from formal—she opted for a simple, casual cotton dress.

Even so, she had set aside her usual canvas shoes to put on a pair of shallow leather shoes with a slight incline at the heel.

Yet, with her unpowdered face and the black-framed glasses on her nose, she still looked much like a high school student.

He Yinru and her daughter knew she was going out today, so they had deliberately come down early to wait.

It wasn't until Su Li came downstairs that Su Qin couldn't resist laughing, and the sound of her laughter was exceptionally piercing.

Su Li frowned slightly but ignored her.

Instead, Su Qin stood up, looked her up and down, and then covered her mouth, laughing as she said, "Don't tell me you're planning to go out like this."

"What's wrong?"

"Hey, that's Wei Chengfeng you're meeting, the eldest son of the Wei Family, the President of 'Prosperous,' and you're dressed like this? Are you deliberately trying to embarrass him?"

Su Qin obviously didn't know what Su Li was actually going out for today; she thought Su Li was going on a date with Chengfeng.

Su Li didn't offer an explanation, instead she shrugged casually and said, "Clothes, as long as they are decent, are fine. I think it's tacky to wear revealing backless outfits, but thanks for the concern, 'little sister'."

"We're sisters, there's no need for such formality. You know I'm saying this for your own good. Otherwise, if you get married and then get sent back over such trivial issues, our entire Su family would be embarrassed, right, big sister?"

Su Li thought to herself that Su Qin was so fond of acting, and so adept at it—she truly possessed the basic qualities of an actor.

With the conversation directed in such a manner, full of phrases and sentences supposedly spoken for her benefit, she couldn't be ungrateful and reject the good intentions, so she suppressed the feeling of disgust surging in her and composed herself, smiling as she said, "Actually, I share the same concern. I was thinking, if only you were the one to get married, what a pity..."

While the two were engaging in their barely veiled verbal skirmish, Housekeeper He approached and said respectfully, "Miss, the Wei Family's car has arrived."

"Okay, I got it. I'll be there shortly."

Su Li gave Su Qin a small smile and then turned to He Yinru, who had been sitting on the side without speaking, and said, "Auntie, I'll be leaving now."

"Sure, go ahead, have fun," He Yinru replied.

As soon as Su Li stepped out, she saw a luxury limousine parked in front of the porch. The driver, who was standing by the car, immediately opened the door with respect and said, "Miss Su, please."

Su Li bent down to get into the car, and after the driver had also gotten in, she asked, "Where are you taking me?"

The driver replied, "The young master instructed me to take you to the Wei Family's ancestral home.
