Although I've been going on with the assumption that the size, shape, feel, and color of a person's Mana Signature has a meaning behind it. It has just been that, an assumption. I never had definitive proof of this, at least until now.
I've always thought that the size of the Mana Signature has to do with the amount of mana that the creature possesses. But Leanne's problem with spell power being connected to having a large amount of mana confirms my suspicions. A wizard's amount of mana depends on how long they've been practicing magic, their power as a wizard, and the amount they were born with.
Dumbledore told me the first two himself. Leanne's existence in of itself confirms the last one. Because they both have large Mana Signatures, and my tiny one, shows a pattern rather than a coincidence.
Because one characteristic of a Mana Signature connects with a characteristic of the wizard, then the others must as well.
The general feeling I get from the Mana Signature is most probably my brain trying to decipher it and warn me about them. It's sort of like an instinct or how pain is a warning from your nerves telling you something is damaging your body.
The other two parts of a Mana Signature, shape and color, have multiple possibilities for what they could mean. Character traits connected to the color, the meaning of the color, mood, personality, and ability are all possible and could all be factors. The problem is that I will most likely never know which meaning they have.
I'll add to this Entry if I get more information.
Update!
I just had a massive revelation! So, each House has characteristics associated, right? Meaning that I can use that to conduct an experiment.
Now Father, if you ever read this I want to know and understand something. This isn't like when I stole a wild dog and scared it half to death by trying to keep it to see if a Crup's behavior is any different than a nonmagical dog. That was one time! Also, I just want to thank you for getting me that muggle book on the scientific method.
Hypothesize that there is a majority to a color of Mana Signature and what House they are in. Ravenclaw has more blue or yellow Mana Signature's, Slytherin has Purple, Green, and Orange, Yellow's in Hufflepuff, red in Gryffindor.
If I'm right about this, then I can narrow down their character traits for why they are in that House and connect that with the color.
I have scoured the library and even have asked Dumbledore about this. Although mana generation and mana as a concept are well known, Mana Signatures aren't. The reason being, I discovered them. There has not been a single person before me that can see mana or absorb mana. (don't know how to feel about that) Due to this, there is literally no research I can do on this topic.
If people's mana is associated with their personality or characteristics then I will see a statistically relevant majority in the House connected to that personality or characteristics. During breakfast and dinner, I will open myself up to mana and will keep track of what color a student's Mana Signature and their House. Once I get this data I will come back again.
Update.
I just wasted so much time! So, after I've examined the data I will say that this experiment was inconclusive. And me, I know what you're thinking, but how can such a simple experiment give an inconclusive result?
First of all, there were no statistically relevant majorities in any of the Houses. You might think that would mean that color doesn't correlate to personality or characteristics but you'd be wrong. During this investigation, I looked into the Houses a little bit more. First of all, there are outliers within the Houses.
There are Gryffendor's that don't act brave, caring Slytherin's (be it few), Lazy Hufflepuff's (although I've been looking at Hufflepuff the least considering their open requirements), etcetera. I was confused about this. Why would you be in the House of the Brave without being brave? So, I started asking around about people's Sorting experience. My poor social status and terrible socialization abilities made it so that I was only able to ask a few. For more data, I enlisted Anne for help.
Some, like me, Were sorted based on the findings of the Sorting Hat. Others said that the Sorting Hat asked them or had a discussion over which House to be put in. This could just mean that some are on the fence of two Houses, but one person's story makes me think differently. Keep in mind that when I asked Anne to ask others I asked her to write down the story and not what their name was.
They just kept on thinking to not be put in Slytherin. The Sorting Hat responded with how the House could be good for them but then said "no? Well if you're sure, better be Gryffindor!"
Why would a hat designed to sort students based on their personality and characteristics care about what House the student wants? Unless it's more nuanced than that. It could be that which House you're placed in doesn't mean what character traits you embody but that and the character traits that you hold in the highest regard and wish to have.
And that brings me back to why this experiment is inconclusive. If the House you're in doesn't automatically mean what character traits you have then it can't be used to compare the meaning of the colors! Also, I looked closer at color theory and connections to personalities, emotions, and traits. There is just too much overlap in the meaning of the color and House traits to be useful.
Take blue for example. The color blue can mean serenity, stability, inspiration, wisdom, depth, trust, loyalty, sincerity, confidence, faith, heaven, and intelligence. Even with just these few meanings out of the many that are out there, you can already see some overlap.
Inspiration, wisdom, and intelligence are all associated with Ravenclaw, yet trust and loyalty are related to Hufflepuff, and confidence is related to Gryffindor. I suppose I don't need to know the exact meaning of the colors considering that the feeling I get from Mana Signatures leads me to a similar conclusion, but what's the fun in that?
