Chapter 3.

I awoke in a bed, it had a hard, uncomfortable matresss. I looked over and saw Overhaul and Chrono talking, or arguing. Overhaul looked pretty annoyed.

Chrono then noticed my eyes open and came over. "You'll be alright, you just need some bedrest. I'm sure Master Overhaul is very apologetic."

I nodded, and he soon exited the room. I found myself staring into Overhaul's yellow eyes as he stared back into my E/C ones.

He sighed and reluctantly walked over. "The heroes got away and I didn't have a chance to use the bullets on them." He looked geniunely annoyed at himself, as I made a silent hooray!

He continued to stare at me, before he placed a gloved hand against mine. "I'm not sorry for doing my job, I am sorry for hurting you, though. As Chrono said, after some rest you'll be back to normal so we can continue where we left off last time, when you're healthy again."

He gave me one last stare, before he exited the room.

"Damn it.." I mumbled and pushed myself up slowly. I'm fine, I don't need to be treated like this.

I stumbled towards the door, opening it slightly as I peeked out. Phew, it's clear.

I hobbled out of the room, holding my head and grumbling to myself. I barely made it to the steel exit, I tried opening it but it was locked. I tried again to make sure. For God's sake.. This is all I needed to top the day off.

I searched through my pockets to make sure I hadn't just forgotten about them, and the keys Kai had given me were gone. He must've taken them.

I stumbled back, towards the maze and made my way to his office, once again.

I heard voices from inside the room as I stood outside. I went to the side, and opened the door a fraction to see in. Shiguraki and Overhaul were having a chat about an alliance or something, maybe I should inform the other heroes when I get out.

Overhaul looked towards the door, though seemed not to notice any difference as I quickly closed it. I then heard footsteps coming towards the door, and quickly slid around a corner. I watched as everyone exited and waited for them to be out of sight before I slipped into the office room.

I quickly noticed my keys on the sofa of Overhaul's side and snatched them up, though before I made it back out, Chisaki blocked the exit with folded arms.

"Seems you're back to normal, then. Or are you being disobedient?" It was like he was drilling holes into my head as he stared at me.

I didn't reply, so he walked closer and I quickly backed away and behind the sofa.

"What are you doing, Y/N? I want to make sure your wounds are okay-" He was cut off by my running, seeming to be an adrenaline rush, as I made my way to the steel exit. I fumbled with the keys as I ran and-

Overhaul grabbed my arm as he easily caught up, with a seemingly glaring expression. I tried pulling my arm away, though he only pulled me into his embrace and hugged me. I was dumbfounded by this sudden action of kindness.

"Don't run from me again or I'll shoot a bullet into your knee." He whispered into my ear, his bird mask seemed not to affect his malicious words.

I then reached up to take the mask off, but he grabbed my wrist and squeezed making me yelp slightly.

"Let.. Go!" I yelled and slammed my knee into his no-no square. He stumbled back, clutching it in pain, as I quickly unlocked the door and ran out. My escape clearly went exactly as planned, and even better as he was grunting in pain behind me. I silently laughed as I got further and further away.
