Night of the Festival

Akari's POV

We looked at many Kimonos until I settled for one of them that I thought was beautiful. "It was a light teal Kimono, with small sakura like flowers decorating it's arms, and the same pattern around the hem of the dress. "Are you sure about this one?" Kurenai asked me as I looked at myself in the mirror. "Yeah, I'm sure." I said closing the door to change back to my clothes. "I think it looks great on you." Shizune said as I came out of the dressing room.

"Well I guess that's done." I said as we paid. "Hey, since we have a day off lets have a girls night in." Kurenai said and Shizune agreed making me agree too. "I guess it would be fun just this once." I said as we left the store heading to Kurenais' place. "I'll be back." I said before I shun shined home. I placed the bags in the room grabbing an overnight bag and putting the things I needed in it. "Are you moving out." Kakashi asked making me jump in surprise. "Kurenai thought it would be fun to have a girls night in." I explained shortly finished from packing the bag.

"I'll see you tomorrow night at the festival." I said pecking his cheek.

~Timeskip to the next evening~

I waited with Kurenai, the whole day the both of us catching up on the things we missed out on the past couple months. "So let me get this straight, Sakura walked in on you and Kakashi making out." Kurenai said erupting into a fit of giggles. "Yeah, and he didn't seem fazed one bit." I said taking out my Kimono. "Well then lets get him fazed tonight." Kurenai said brushing her long black hair. "I'm going to trust you with this, you know I'm not really a makeup person." I said as Kurenai took out the tools to get us prepared.

"I'm not going to do much, just a little blush with some lip gloss, that will look great on you." She said twirling the brush around in the air. I let her do my makeup and hair which took longer than I thought. She tied my hair into a bun letting a small piece of it frame the side of my face. "Now you can go slip into your Kimono." Kurenai said finishing me off.

I looked to the Kimono Kurenai picked up. It was a black Kimono, with red camelia designs around its arms, and around the bottom of the dress. I heard a knock on the door and I headed down stairs to open it. "Kakashi." I said surprised to see him so early.

Kakashi's POV

I got through a rather boring day, of just me reading icha icha. I got up and got dressed as I saw the clock was telling me that it was 7 pm. I got dressed in my navy blue Kimono with a simple light blue obi. I looked around the room taking out the hair pin I got for Akari, and the small containing the engagement ring I got for her as well. I exited my apartment and headed for Kurenais place. I knocked on the door and my sensitive ears caught hurried footsteps coming to the door.

It was opened my Akari, and I was astonished by how she looked. "Kakashi." Akari said and I smiled behind my mask hearing her voice. Her hair was made up to bun, with a bit of her hair framing her beautiful face. A bit of makeup can be noticed from her face and her light teal Kimono was a matching color with the Kimono I was wearing. "So are you going to stare all night, or are you two going to get to the festival." Kurenai said snapping me out of my trance.

I smiled taking Akari's hand and we walked out into the road, heading to center of the village. "You look stunning." I said as we neared the festival. "I've got something for you." I said stopping on near one of the stalls. I handed her the box containing the hair pin I got for her. It was a gold hairpin with small white apple blossoms on it. "Kashi, it's beautiful." Akari gasped opening the box. I took the pin and put it on for her. I put the pin near the bun on her head.

Akari's POV

We enjoyed the time at the festival, playing games and getting prizes. "KAKASHI, MY ETERNAL RIVAL." Gai shouted attracting the attention of the many people surrounding us. "Let's have a challenge." He said walking up to us. "Actually, I can't gai, we're going to a place we can see the fireworks." Kakashi said pulling me close to him. "Alright, I'll accompany both of you." Gai said and he followed us through the festival. "So this is fun." I said trying to get rid of the awkward atmosphere. "Yeah." Kakashi mumbled glaring at Gai.

We finally reached the hill and Gai left saying that he had something to attend to. I turned to Kakashi who was glancing around us. "Hey is everything okay." I asked him and he nodded turning to me.

Kakashi's POV

I nervously searched my surrounding recollecting the words I have got together for my big plan.

"Akari, I've been meaning to ask you this for a really long time. We've been through many things together, and you have always been there for me, you we're always the light in my darkness. Even when I lost you, I couldn't get you out of my head, you are everything to me. And I just want us to be together forever, because I love you, more that anything or anyone in my whole life." I finished my big speech getting down on one knee. Akari gasped smiling brightly as I pulled out the sapphire ring. "Akari Kato, will you marry me." I asked as the first firework erupted into the air.

"Yes, I don't know what else to say, you're the love of my life as well Kakashi." Akari said and I sliped the ring on her finger and stood up. She jumped into my arms and I pulled down my mask kissing her and she did the same.

"Congratulations you two." Kurenai said and I notice both her and Asuma were on the hill. I smiled feeling content as Akari looked at me smiling as she always did.
