Chapter 5

My mother fell to the ground beneath her as the darkness surrounding her faded away slowly. Don't tell me another person that I had come to love is going to die as well. Please let her be okay and survive this nightmare! The thoughts of losing not one but both of my parents were flooding through my veins. Why does everything that I come to love to have to suffer in the end by uncontrollable factor? I can't do anything about it!

Mae rushes towards the spot where my mother had fell, me still in her arms worrying about what's about to come. She manipulates the energy around her to give herself enhanced speed and her speed increases 3-fold. I could feel the wind hitting my face as she ran. The speed was nothing compared to what my mother had accomplished in the battle, but it was fast, nonetheless. I would have to get used to moving at higher speeds than this if I wanted to become the strongest adventurer out there.

We get to my mother and all we could see was her body lying there on the floor. Cold and lifeless. My nightmare had come to reality and taken shape; both my parents were now dead. This might sound selfish but, why did it have to be my parents? Why not somebody else? Somebody that deserved it for all the treacherous things they did. Someone who had no respect for anyone and genuinely believed they could get away with anything. Those types of people are the ones who should be going through this misfortune. They are the ones who truly deserve to go through pain like this!

As my sister comes to where my mother lay, she got on her knees and tears started falling down her cheeks and dripping down to the black ground that had obviously been scorched in the battle that had commenced. She shakes mother begging for her to wake up, but it's no use. She has already left and gone to the stars up above, to look down on us and to give us guidance. That's what I wanted to think. I knew that isn't what happened. When you die you simple cease to exist anymore. Nothing more nothing less.

The villagers gather around as my sister wails from the pain of losing both of our parents. They just stare at the abhorrent sight ahead of them, easily one of the best people to meet was on the ground in front of them, unable to breath with lifeless eyes. Everyone sheds a tear for the great friend that gave her life for everyone else, and for the man that went headfirst into combat straight away to go and save the family that was stuck in the basement.

My sister stands and walks over to one of our neighbours and passes me over to them to carry. They gladly agree to do so, and I now lay in the arms of another mother. It felt completely different to how it usually feels to be held, there was no warmth, love or anything. The only feeling that I could sense was sorrow.

Mae picks up my mother and walks over to wear our house used to stand, now in disarray after being burnt down by the dragons. She lay our mother next to where our grandparents had been buried and covers her eyes with a piece of cloth, she had in one of her pockets.

She then heads to where my father had passed and does the same thing. Carrying him and laying him down next to our mother, while covering his eyes to, with a cloth that came out another pocket of hers.

Everybody lines up behind Mae and each pay their respects for the courageous acts both heroes had achieved when saving everyone from what was thought to be certain death for the people hid in the basement. Some people put flower petals next to each of them and some simply just took a respectful bow. Each giving Mae a big hug to try calm her as losing both parents are going to be hard for anyone, even the coldest of people.

Honestly, my sister was taking this really well, I know she was holding back her sadness. I could see it in her face, her eyes forced from shedding tears, a strained smile.

You learn how to see how people really feel in the underground fights, you had to. You didn't want to give a gruesome death to someone who was truly scared, or who was forced into where he was like me. You wanted to give those deaths to people who were there by choice and for fun.

I knew for sure what I was going to do as I got older now. At first it was all about just becoming the strongest adventurer there was just to be cool, but now I had a reason. I was going to get revenge for my parents who were killed by dragons and taken from me. I don't care what I have to do, I'm going to do it. I'll end the whole race if I have too. The dragons are going to pay, but that's going to take some time. I need to become older so I can attend the school of manipulators and so I can start my training for this goal as soon as possible. Nothing could stop me now!
