Chapter 6

It's been 4 years since the incident, and I had turned five a couple months ago.

My sister has been taking care of me ever since, only after taking one last big adventurers mission so she could get the money to take care of me properly. This was a big deal for her as I knew she wanted to keep being an adventurer, she had so much potential as well being an A rank at the age of 21. My sister really was something.

She was a great guardian; she was just as loving as both my parents. Probably because she was my sister but loving, nonetheless. She would always play with me when I had asked her too, which wasn't much because I was usually occupied with reading books trying to learn more about this world and how it works.

Each year for my birthday she would get me piles of books for me to read as she had noticed my interest in them which I was glad to find out she had been paying attention on me. I know how hard it is to raise a child on your own, especially after such a traumatic event. I would never be able to repay her for what she had given up to raise me and have as much of a fulfilled childhood as she could possibly survive.

After the attack we had to move to a whole new village as nothing remained of our old one. We had settled closer into the centre of our kingdom Elorea. It would be safer than being further on the outskirts as we would be closer to civilization and there were other villages that were further out than us. It took about year for all the houses, farms and other buildings to be fully built and another 6 months for everybody to be fully adjusted to the new life that they had been forced into.

I had given up trying to awaken my powers as I thought it was a waste of time after trying so hard but failing with every attempt. I'd just have to wait for the time when they decide to awaken naturally like every normal person.

While reading my books I found out that there were different classes of adventurer that you could choose from and decide to train as. There were many different options, each I had already knew the names of and what that specific class was specialized in due to previous knowledge from earth. There was one class however that had always stuck out to me however, and that was assassin. I always thought that being an assassin would be really cool and is the best of all classes as speed was always key in a battle as it usually equated to power as well.

I knew what class I would be but there was a bit of a twist. I would become a master at all classes, well, as many as I possibly could at least. I would definitely train in all the classes but in the end mainly focus on the class of assassin.

Assassins had always been the best in my mind. They were fast and could easily and efficiently dodge any attack thrown at them, this was usually done with the natural human power so if I were to add enhanced energy into the mix the speed and power would become insane compared to what I had seen in film from earth. My main goal for speed would be to become as fast as my mother was.

Nightfall had come, quite a bit quicker than I had thought. I didn't mind though; I was sort of tired anyway. I put my head down against my pillow and close my eyes slowly. Drifting off into a dream-like state.

I am awoken by something odd, something that was like nothing I had felt before. I sit up slowly and ponder my brain trying to think what it could be. I could still feel it around me. Was it energy? Had I finally awoken my powers?

I get into position with my legs crossed and my arms rested against them. I relax all of my muscles and shut my eyes. I think about the flow of power that I was feeling just moments ago. I can feel it. This can't be though, the age people awaken is usually around 9 or 10, not 5. I forget about the age stuff and rush to get the book to see what I had to do next, it had been so long since I last seen it, I had forgotten.

I open the door to the library in my house, it slowly creaks open as I try not to be so loud as to wake up Mae. It finally stops creaking as it has been fully opened and I enter the room. I head to where I had put the book after my sister had got me another one as it had been burnt when the dragons attacked. I pull it out of its place as neatly as I could.

I had developed some sort of neatness complex with my books for some odd reason.

I open the pages to where I had gotten to so far and continued to follow the instructions. I found a comfortable place to sit where I could get in the proper position ready to be able to start my training already. I was so excited, I had given up on trying to find my powers as I couldn't be bothered trying anymore after all the failures, but now my powers had come all by themselves, and i was going to utilize them to their fullest.

The first instruction had to do with increasing the amount of energy you could store and use. You did this by training your core and getting it used to the influx of energy that enters through it when manipulating it. What you had to do was focus and think of the energy flowing into the core of your body and exiting out of any point of body you desired (this would increase magic accuracy also) and this process would continue until you eventually thought it was boring or no longer wanted to do it anymore. The more you do it though the more energy you could store meaning you would be overflowing with power making you a threat to anyone who didn't have as much stored in their core.

The second part of this was learning how to keep it in your core for long periods of time while being preoccupied with other things like fighting or anything for that matter as you never know when you might need it. This was going to have to wait till tomorrow though because there was nothing I could do to occupy myself enough for it to exactly be called a challenge.

I neatly put the book back in its place like nothing had ever happened and continued off to my room to go sleep for good this time.
