Chapter 7

Nathan's POV

I can't sleep. My wolf is way too restless and agitated to let me sleep. I keep tossing and turning in my bed to no avail. Sleep just won't come to me. All I want is to sleep next to Christian, sandwiching him between Matthew and me. I want to nuzzle his neck, breathing in his natural scent. Sheesh, how can I think about that now? I need to ensure his safety first before that.

I feel guilty as heck. I know what Matthew said is right, but I can't help to blame myself. Christian is in shock because of me. But considering that Christian now knew about the supernatural world, I can't resist wondering. After the war is over, can we have a fresh start? Can Christian live thinking that this is normal? We wanted nothing but the best for Christian. How can we not? He has been through enough, yet here he is, in the center of the storm.

After the war is over, we will court him properly. But hell, our soul is yearning for him so bad we might go crazy. Even now, our soul is calling for him. He didn't realize it yet, because he hasn't matured fully. But when he fully developed, everybody would want a piece of him. No, we won't allow that. He is ours. We will protect him at all costs.

My thoughts are suddenly interrupted by Matthew. "You're thinking way too hard again, didn't you?" He asked. "I guess so. You feel the headache coming, huh? Sorry, my bad." I apologized. "Well, yeah. What were you thinking?" He asked again. "Christian," I replied. "I see. You can't sleep because the wolf is restless?" "Yeah, way too restless. Being an Alpha makes it harder. You feel it too, right? The hollowness in our bond?" I can't see him, but somehow I can picture him nodding.

"Do you want to switch with me?" He finally talks again after a few moments of silence. "You're okay with it? Why don't we watch him together?" "And who will organize the plan?" I can hear him sighed. "Look, Nathan. I'm a werewolf, and you're a Lycan. You're superior to me. The bond took a toll harder on you than on me. You watch him, and I'll organize the plan. Deal?" There's this semi sad tone coming from him.

I agreed immediately. As he said, the bond took a toll harder on me. I got out of the bed and toss on a random shirt. I quickly went out of the room and walks towards Christian's room. As I went down the hall, I bumped into Thalia. "Nathan! Can I talk to you for a moment?" "Yes, you can. What is it, Thalia?" She went quiet for a second, contemplating what she was going to say to me.

"Okay, here we go. Nathan, as you can see, I am the only witch in your pack. I wanted to ask for your permission to go back home and grab my sister. Since the war is coming, I wanted her to be safe. And with her here, you will get the power of two witches. So, can I have your permission?" She blushed at the end of the sentences. I stared at her and chuckled.

"Of course you can. You're our childhood closest friend. You don't need to be so formal, you know? Grab your sister. We will make sure that she safe within the pack. But I needed to ask, how long will you be gone?" She is thinking again. "Hmmm, I can teleport to the border, but I need to walk on foot to go home. It takes around a day and a half to reach there. I will be gone for three days." She replied.

"Okay, do you need any guards?" She laughed at me. "Honey, I'm a powerful witch. I'm very grateful for the offer, but no, I don't need any guards. Besides, they will puke their guts out if they try to step into my portal without a proper talisman. I haven't made those yet. I'm still gathering the ingredients." She grinned.

"Alright, if you say so. When will you depart?" I questioned

"Tomorrow, at dawn." She answered.

I nod my head. I was going to continue my walk before she grabs my wrist. "Nathan. I must admit, you and Matthew are the most loyal and sweetest Alpha I have ever known. The length of both of you willing to go for your other half is admirable. Your race is the most loyal race in the supernatural world. If only other race values their family, maybe we won't be branded as a monster by humans." Tears are gathering in the corner of her eyes.

I wrap her smaller form in my arms. "Don't let their nasty words define who we are. About who you are. We know you very well. You're Thalia Azure, the most powerful woman we knew. You're our best friend and family. What human said about us is based on their fear. They don't know us. They know nothing at all."

She grips my shirt, and I can hear her quiet sob. I nuzzle her hair, and we stay like that for a minute. "Go get rest. You're going very early tomorrow. You need your energy to open up a portal." I whispered into her hair. She nods and wipes her tears. "Nathan, thank you. You and your brother are my saviors. I'm very grateful to have a friend like you." I smiled at her with affection. "You're welcome, Thalia. I'll see you in three days."

With that, we part ways. I arrived in front of Christian's room and knock quietly before going in. "Hey, how is he?" I asked. Matthew is running his hand through Christian's hair gently. "He is asleep for now. He'll be fine. He is a tough person." Matthew smile, but his smile seems sad. "I know. We will be there with him all the way. " I return his smile. He retracts his hand and got out of the chair. "I called Axel and Zade to discuss the plan. Tomorrow, we will have a meeting with the packs. Will you join?" He glanced at me. "If Christian is asleep, I will. Oh yeah, Thalia will be gone for three days. She's going to pick up her sister and bring her here."

"Okay. But don't forget to get some rest, brother. Even if he's our other half, we're still the Alpha of the pack. We have responsibilities too." He exits the room, leaving me with Christian's sleeping form. I walk across the room and sat down on the chair. I fixed my eyes on Christian's face. He looked tired and his complexion is bad. The room is quiet, except for our heartbeats. It was peaceful, but somehow it felt wrong.

We're not safe yet. Not until we win the war at least. "Christian," I called his name, reaching out for his hand. "When the war is over, will you be ours? We will court you properly, start this relationship from the beginning. Would you let us in? Please don't reject us. We can't bear the rejection. We'd die." I kiss the back of his hand, the emotion runs amock inside me. I can feel his hand twitch, his slender fingers gripped mine for a second.

Now his brows are furrowed, and his nose is scrunched. Is he having a nightmare right now? Do I wake him? If I wake him up, will he have an episode? I decided against waking him up, instead, I caress his cheeks and whisper sweet nothing into his ear. I think he hears me. His brows and nose slowly return to their neutral state. I let out a relieved sigh. Thank goddess. I lay down my head on his chest, his heartbeats are calming. My wolf seems settled down. I yawned, feeling tired all of the sudden. I close my eyes and let the darkness welcome me.
