Chapter 24

Schultz returned the rental car in Sousse while Mandolini waited for him. Guided by a warning, Schultz called home to check up on Agatha before he and Mandolini would take the ferry to Genoa. Though his wife adjusted herself well to the frequent absences of Bruno, he worried about her. He used the phone in the rental agency. After seven rings, Agatha finally answered, “Hello.”

“It’s me. How are you?”

“I’m fine, dear. I miss you. When are you coming home? Wait — I don’t think that you are coming home when you hear what I have to tell you,” said Agatha, excited.

“What’s wrong?”

“I’m not sure that anything is wrong. A fellow by the name of Sam called. He said that Peter Benner wants to meet you on his boat. He docked it in the Genoa Public Harbor dock number A26. He’ll be waiting there,” said Agatha, unhappily.
