CHAPTER 6

Wash your hands before reading.

Recap

Do these people have a thing for gigantic and gorgeous houses? Gosh! this house, or rather castle is gorgeous.

The fine tapestry that lined the walls, to the crystal chandeliers, and the deep brick red and brownish mixture colour of the walls, everything blended all of that produces a rustic but yet modern aura. Truly a master piece.

"Master, your family is waiting for you in the dining hall." The butler said leading us through the large hallways.

Girl, I could get lost in here. We reached in front of a huge pair of double doors which Alfred, the butler, opened, gesturing us to go in.

I was suddenly nervous. I hoped my dress was fine enough. I mean I had a long black gown which held my curves enough to show I was a woman but not a slut and a pair of silver pumps and I had my hair curled and tied in a bun with minimal makeup on.

"Ah. My son." An elderly gorgeous brunette woman with blue-green eyes, that I obviously recognised as his mother engulfed him in a hug.

I looked at the table and my eyes nearly jumped out if their sockets.

The hell!!! How many people does he have in his family. There were about 30 pairs of eyes, and all of them were directed to us, or rather to me.

I unconsciously held Finn's arm for some sort of support.

Finn's mother then turned to me with a scrutinizing gaze.

Suddenly, she scowled and said.

"Let go of my son, you slut"

The hell!!!

The tension at the table couldn't possibly have been cut with a knife, an electric saw could have done it, perhaps.

I stared at all the people at the table, some eyed me nastily, others curiously and some others jealously. I didn't know which was worse.

I was sitted close to Finn while his mother sat opposite him with his father at the head of the table. The rest of the people were his cousins, nieces, aunts and uncles with a few family friends.

However, there were two empty seats and I didn't know whom they belonged to.

After the way Finn's mother insulted me infront of everyone, my cheeks burned with embarrassment.

But what surprised me and probably everyone else was how Finn stood up for me infront of his mother. I remember his words still clearly ringing in my head.

"Mother, she is my wife and I demand you respect her "

She eyed her son with distaste.

"Yes but she is black "

Finn just smirked and looked at me straight in the eye and said.

"That's what I like the most about her"

At that moment, my heart skept a beat.

Yeah. My mom was a black american and my dad is a white so my complexion is a beautiful metis colour I always loved.

Finn's mother just rolled her eyes and went back to her seat.

I was broken out of my thoughts by the sound of a door opening.

I looked at the door like everyone else and my eyes almost jumped out of their sockets as a gorgeous black haired and blue eyed girl came in. She wore a tight blue dress and black strapped heels.

She looked exotic.

"Bonsoir, tout le monde.", she said, her French accent thick.

(Good evening everyone.)

"Ah, Andrea. Here you are, finally. We were waiting for you "

Finn's mom said standing to engulf her in a big hug.

"Alizia, I'm happy to see you too. It's been long." The girl named Andrea said returning Mrs Aragon's hug.

"Finny", she said as Finn stood to hug her.

"Andrea" He said hugging her briefly and stiffly.

I stood up and wanted to greet her too when she beat me to it and pulled me into a hug.

"Awwww, so it's you who captured the heart of this damsel in distress" she said referring to Finn and I couldn't help but laugh a bit.

Damsel in distress? Really? I thought as she released me from our hug.

"Andrea..." Finn said in annoyed tone throwing her a pissed look.

"Oh, don't be such a cry baby, Finn" she finished with a triumphant smirk

Soon the awkward dinner started and when I said awkward, I meant the atmosphere. It was so tense, only the clanking of plates could be heard.

Is this even a family? How can everyone be so quiet like it's a business meeting?

Anyway, after the dinner, I was surprised to find out there is an after family gathering where everyone was forming small groups to discuss, of course, my dear husband had to leave me here to go discuss with his father.

Suddenly, two girls around 16 with identical faces dressed in identical blue gowns came over and started staring at me scrupulously.

Talk of creeps.

"Ummm, hi?" I said awkwardly in more of an interrogating tone.

"You're good" they both said before sauntering away.

Ooookayyyy.... That wasn't creepy at all. I reassured myself.

Then it was Andrea who came over and started recounting me Finn's embarrassing moments from when he was a child.

I was laughing so hard from the last story she was telling me where Finn was forced to play the damsel in distress in a school role play because all the girls had gone on a field trip and only boys were left for the school play.

Suddenly, she got serious again.

"I'm glad he got over Amelia" she said with a hint of sadness in her eyes.

I looked at her in confusion.

"Amelia? Who is she?" I asked and her eyes widened.

"Oh, shit. He didn't tell you, did he?" she said as she looked like a deer caught in the headlight.

"No? Who is she? An ex? His ex wife? What happened?" I asked as I wanted answers.

"Its not really my place to tell you sorry. If Finn hasn't done it yet it's probably because he has a good reason. I don't wanna ruin it for him. Please don't insist." she said giving me cute puppy dog eyes.

"Okay. I won't push it." I said raising my hands up in the air in a defensive position.

"Thank You" she said taking me in a brief hug again. This woman seems to love hugs.

Just then Finn came by and said it was time to go, which I couldn't be more glad about. I exchanged numbers with Andrea before going out with Finn.

As we sat in the car, I couldn't help but wonder. Who was this Amelia? What happened to her? Why isn't she here? I asked myself as I looked at Finn's head trying to figure out the answer as if events were going to unfold just like in a screen projection.

"Its rude to stare, you know" he said, suddenly breaking me out of my trance.

I blinked and looked away, my cheeks reddening at the embarrassment of being caught.

We soon arrived the mansion and I went straight to our room while Finn went to his office saying he had some work to complete. I just rolled my eyes. Workaholic.

Its true I love to work but his own is a whole new level. Its like he was using his work to forget.

Ah, yes of course. To forget Amelia.

But who was she?

I thought as I slipped into his bed but I sprung back up immediately. What the hell? Why is this bed so hard?

I quickly tied my robe and went downstairs to Finn's office.

"FINN, FINN" I shouted as I entered his office, a little rudely.

"Yes. I'll call you back later." He said just as I entered.

"What the hell do you want woman? And didn't your mother teach you how to knock?" He said sounding pissed.

"What the hell is that thing on your bed?"

He looked confused for a moment before his expression suddenly turned into a smirk.

"Oh, that? It's a therapeutic mattress that I use to treat my back pains caused by sitting for long hours. My grandmother thought it was an ideal marriage gift."

"Your grandmother?" I asked. I haven't seen her yet.

"Oh yeah, you haven't met her yet. She's in Russia. She couldn't afford to be there for the marriage or the family meeting but she insisted I bring you with me to come visit her. 'Preferably with her great grandchildren' her words, not mine"

He said standing up a fixing files on his table.

"Yeah, but what about the matress. There's absolutely no way I'm sleeping on that." I said desperately. After all these hours without sleep, the last thing I needed was a therapeutic bed.

"Don't worry, Princess, we'll find a solu-" he stopped mid sentence when his eyes landed on me and that's when I realized, my robe was way too short showing my thigs and my long legs.

"-tion" he finished and my heart beat accelerated as he advanced slowly towards me.

Suddenly, I felt the wall behind me.

He bent down right next to my ear and whispered.

"Surely, you can survive one night of therapy." He said and I gasped.

He then straightened up and walked out of the office, with me following shortly after I regained all my senses.

This marriage promises to be intense.
