Chapter 4

I wake up to my alarm and realize I fell asleep. I hurry out of the bath and wrap a towel around myself. Running to the kitchen I pull out a water out of the fridge and pop the tiny pill in my mouth. I shiver and swallow reluctantly. You'd think you get used to taking a pill after a couple years, but I still don't. Even though it's small.

I'm on my way to my room, and notice the window was open. It's now dim outside and surprisingly chilly. As I'm rushing to close it I feel the cold breeze whip past me. I'm hoping that wasn't open for too long. Just before I turn away I see a figure standing below. I notice the light behind me flicker. I glance toward the light, startled. I turn back to investigate the figure but they're no longer there. I cautiously make my way to my room, feeling like I'm going crazy.

I finish getting dressed, and turn to admire the photo beside my bed. I walk over and pick it up, it's a picture of my father and I. I smile remembering how much I enjoyed spending time with him. After he passed my mother and I moved to this small town. When I turned eighteen my mom moved to Florida. I liked the small town enough to stay. I have a close friend Amara, who stayed after high school to run her own shop. Everyone else left to move onto bigger things. I lay down in bed, thinking about happy memories as I drifted off to sleep.
