"What are you doing?" Amara asks confused. I realized I had abruptly stopped and she was tugging on my arm.
"As I was saying...this is Kaiden" gesturing toward him "Kaiden this is Evelyn but you can call her Eve" Amara says as she bats her eyes. I'm suddenly not satisfied with my five minute get ready look.
"Hello, Eve." he says in a slightly irritated tone that Amara doesn't seem to notice.
"Hi" I say in a smaller voice then I intended.
I look the other way a little embarrassed at the tone he gave me. He doesn't even know me. Well maybe he's still mad about me bumping into him? That seems like a weird grudge to hold I think as I start to listen in on what Amara is saying.
"So what do you think of the gallery Kaiden? We've been preparing for weeks for your arrival. I hope you are pleased!" She rambles on.
Kaiden takes another look at the painting behind him "It is as expected, Amara." He gives her a slight nod of approval.
"Fantastic! I will go get the paper work. Eve stay and keep Kaiden company, please." Amara states as she dashed off to the back room. I slowly turn toward Kaiden, and notice he was staring.
"So are you buying some paintings?" I ask in attempt to make conversation.
"No. I'm buying out the place." He states but with a bit of confusion in his voice.
"Wait wha.." I start to ask before noticing Amara is back with a bunch of papers. I turn to her with wide eyes.
"Since when are you selling the art gallery?" I ask, stunned. She loves this place. How did I not know? Why didn't she tell me?
"I told you last week when things were finalized, Eve." she says pausing for a moment. Her eyes light up as if she has an abrupt idea. "Oh honey, I totally forgot. You had a blackout last week that must be why you don't remember."
