‘Rosa, when are you two gonna be back?’ Regan tugged on her sleeve, asking the question for the fifth time that day.
‘I don’t know, sweetie,’ Rosalind answered, gently patting his head.
Regan was her and Percy’s seven year old adopted son. They had adopted him when he had been three. Why? She had wanted a child. Weird, even she admits. But children are awesome!
‘Am I gonna be staying with Jason, or Reyna?’ He asked, his brown eyes wide.
‘Jason.’ Percy said simply, turning the car around a corner.
‘Don’t give them too much trouble though,’ she told him sternly.
‘You think I will with Miss Celaena glaring at me like she does all the time?’ He huffed, crossing his arms.
‘Exactly.’
‘We’re here,’ The car came to a halt in front of Jason, Celaena and Loki’s house.
Rosalind opened her door and got off, then let Regan out. He jumped out happily, if not looking a bit tired. Well, the kid had woken up at seven a.m.
She gestured for him to follow her as she rang their doorbell, Percy bringing Regan’s suitcase from the trunk.
The door opened, and Celaena met her eyes.
‘Oh Rosalind, hey-‘ her eyes landed on Regan. Rosalind felt Regan grip her hand. Just at that moment, Jason appeared in the doorway, shoving Celaena behind him as she let out a squawk of protest.
‘Hi Rosalind,’ he panted out, smiling widely. He then bent down to come to Regan’s level and ruffled his brown hair.
‘Hey buddy,’ Regan grinned, and hugged Jason.
‘’Morning Jason,’ Percy came towards them, lugging the suitcase along.
‘Good morning, Perce.’
‘This has everything he’ll need,’ Percy patted the plum colored suitcase.
‘How long are you two gonna be gone?’ Jason asked.
‘As long as it takes, I guess,’ she shrugged.
Jason nodded. He stood, picking Regan up.
‘Be careful, you two,’
‘We will,’ her partner said, ‘Thanks again for taking care of Regan for us.’
‘Anytime.’
‘Come on, kid,’ Loki took the boy from Jason, ‘Let’s get you to bed.’
He yawned, and rested his head on his shoulder as Loki took him up to the guest room.
Before Jason could turn to her, Celaena was right in front of him, holding a knife against his throat, glaring at him with her blood red eyes.
‘Explain,’ she hissed.
He laughed nervously, holding his hands up in surrender, ‘Ah, well, they had to go on a mission, and Reyna had to do her stuff too. So I volunteered....?’
‘You volunteered, huh?’
He gulped, and nodded. She glared at him for two more tense seconds, before stepping back, sighing.
‘I guess I’ll just have to deal with him then.’
‘Laena, have mercy on the little guy. He’s terrified of you.’
‘Good.’
Perseus looked at her in the mirror as she blinked her gray contacts into place. He had already put his hazel ones in his eyes. He watched as she pulled the bobby pins out of her hair, and the curls flowed down, bouncing slightly.
‘You done already?’ she asked, running her fingers through her hair.
‘Yeah.’
Rosalind opened her little purse, and took out a small lipstick. She applied the rose color onto her lips lightly, then put it back inside.
‘I’m done now,’ she leaned back in her seat, crossing her legs over each other, ‘What do you think?’
He observed her get up. He knew that she was wearing a black top, and jeans under her bark colored coat. She had added in green extensions in her hair, and gray contacts.
In simpler words: Mareena Tatiana.
‘Do you have to play this character?’ He pleaded.
‘What’s so bad about it?’ she smirked, her voice having taken on a completely different tone. If he didn’t know her like he did, he’d take her for someone else.
‘You know exactly what I mean,’ he narrowed his eyes at her, and she rolled hers, clicking her tongue.
‘Oh come on, sweetheart, just for this while. It’ll be fun.’
Ah, yes, and he was stuck playing the meek (why?) Teal Nile. Mareena’s best friend with benefits. Well, obviously that was just a story.
‘You really need to update your definition of fun, Mareena,’
She laughed, then gently patted his arm, ‘Okay now, start driving. We do have to get to VILE now, don’t we?’
Using the card to get inside was easy. Getting an apartment was also easy. Now they stood in front of a board that displayed the map of the whole VILE empire. Okay, maybe that was exaggerated, it wasn’t really an empire.
‘You think we should hit one of the fancy bars first?’ Mareena asked, a hand placed on her hip.
‘Well,’ he started, his voice small and soft, ‘I’m okay with it.’ To be honest, acting a completely different character was easy, and a usual thing for them.
‘Bar it is then.’ She gave him a tug on his sleeve as she started walking. Her grey eyes spotted a young man walking by.
He looked to be twenty six, with blonde hair and brown eyes. Quite nice to look at. They would walk past him in approximately fifty seconds, taking into account the speed they were walking at.
She raised her chin a bit higher as they walked past, and Teal subtly tapped her knuckle. She nodded in answer, to indicate that she knew.
So not even one day and they had already seen Lucas.
Who else would they have the pleasure of meeting?
A lot of people, wanted and unwanted, apparently.
