It has been five years since their plan lead to fruition and enabled them to live a new life here. They never felt liberating ever since they became slaves by those oppressing authority that used them for their leisure. Specially him, he never felt freer before. He became an outstanding figure in Maryvale City, a dream that he wouldn’t be able to reached without the ingenuous plan of his collaborators.
Enrick’s and others were able to maintain their positions here in the city and live among the people. After the Purge, Enrick was able to make his way as principal of the school. Should be, he would be able to grasp the trust of the newly form council that the previous they have slaughtered and gain information to learn their private life. Lucky he is, the council prove to be trustful be enough to share their personal information to each other, that includes the snake on their cause.
“Do they prove to be liable to our ends?” Jay asked to Enrick.
Enrick’s hands travelled to the beer and drank it, relishing his thirst. “No, they do not prove to be any a threat, for now. But we should dispose of them, while they’re not prove to inconvenient to us.”
“Enrick, do not lay your hands on them.” He warned him. His eyes did not remain in that strict manner for too long as he laid his eyes down to his food.
Enrick’s mana began to rile up again.
The flowers outside the store began to shaken.
“Enrick, please stop it. I promise you; your recklessness will be your undoing.”
“And so, will we. Those imbeciles will grow and will become a threat to us. I wouldn’t be so sure that allowing their existence to continue.”
“Enrick, listen to my plea. If we’ll going to destroy them now, then we will have no cover for our identity. It is best to monitor their actions rather than to despite our appearances.”
Enrick’s aura began to deplete to none as he said to Jay. “Are you not afraid that they will make move against us?”
“Given your previous reports, I am sure that they are not capable enough to conduct large scale operation that will stand to our goals.”
“You do know that I will not hesitate to make my move against those pests?”
“They are speck compared to our existence; do you think they are any of threat to our prowess?”
Enrick grunts. “You are right. They are nothing but insignificant beings to us but I cannot deny that they have potential.”
“I assure you that they will prove not anything against us. They are speck compared to us. We are able destroy the previous council and we will do it again if must, but now is not the right time for them to end. They will prove to be useful, that I will assure you or do you intend to use them for your blood magic?”
“Would you mind?”
“Yes. That magic heavily taxes your overall well-being. Those changes will put us in disadvantage position. Circumstances aside, the Ordinals made their move to New Jersey, that’s the closes activity they have done now. We don’t want to do something that will catch their interest. Now that monsters from the world of limbo manage to cross the border, we have to maintain our neutrality until the Satrican will finally heal the gap. Does my logic sound correct, Enrick?”
“If they will become hindrance to our goal, I wouldn’t hesitate on killing them.”
“Yes, yes. Only if… but, the precedence requires us to be adamant on our identity. There’s a lot of risk if our presence became known to them. I am doing this for the best of all of us.”
“Until they haven’t done anything to damage our product, I reckon you to monitor if the new council knew anything about our mysterious hunter.”
“That I will do.” Enrick said. “I wonder, what keeps bothering you these days?”
His face stricken as he put down the coffee. “That is none of your concern.”
“Please, we’ve been together for couple of years and we know your capabilities. Surely you can safely tell me what you’ve been up to.”
He gazes sternly at him. “Mind your own business, Enrick.”
“Am I getting too personal?” Enrick chuckles. “I never get to see this side of you, but I will never cross that line. I promise I’m going to stick my nose where it belongs.”
“Very well. So much for luncheon. I will see you next time. Do relay this information from the others.”
Jay left the unattended mind of Enrick. He has thought of him as adamant and resilient person. Never to show any kind of blind spot.
Enrick went across the street and to his car. He felt a familiar presence behind his seat.
“How long have you been waiting?”
The curtain fell and the magic is done.
“What did the two of you spoke of?”
Enrick sighed. “Something, something, something does not murder people, specifically them. Jay has been watching my back ever since he has heard about the hunter, which is all but a suspicion, no concrete proof or whatsoever.”
“And you concede on his regulation?” He asked.
Enrick stared through the front mirror. “Of course not. But what can I do when that man frequently come and check me up?” He pulled a question to him. “And what about you Hive? What’s your position in all of this? You have been so silent ever since. You barely talk and call.”
“Let’s just say, I’ve been enjoying the taste of freedom that I earned.”
“Hm.” Enrick gave him a look.
“Now-now. Don’t give me that look. I promised you, I’m on my best behavior.”
“I wonder, do you not feel any guilt to your brother that has been left behind among the Ordinals.”
Hive’s expression stricken in a moment.
“It must’ve been hard for you to watch him taken by your not so benevolent father away from your grasp. Oh well, judging from the way you handle it, I guess you must’ve gotten over it quickly. But who am I to judge?”
“You speak so low of me; but ironic it is, you’re the reason why the love of your life fell into peril because of what so called blood magic.” Hive grinned. “I wonder, does a monster like you feel remorse? Or are you pathetically shallow that is comparable with undead?”
Enrick looked down. He’s pales as cold and then returned to his usual gesture. He glares at him with murderous intention.
“Your rue misgivings will be your undoing boy.”
“Oh, do not indulge on that expression. I have no intention on engaging combat with you. Insults aside, I came here for the reason of your contemplation.”
“You mean the Hunter?”
“Yes.”
“And how does this will benefit you?”
“Us Enrick, us. I am well aware of Jay’s misplaced of confidents regarding our position when there’s a threat out there that might end us and all of our accomplishments. I know it may sound strange coming from but even I know when to step the boundaries.”
“A brave soul you are. You sure you don’t have doubts that you might slight him?”
“Please, he’s not our leader. In fact, we are on our own, if he does not have the cojones to take action then we will get rid of the problem ourselves.” Hive replied with such calm demeanor.
“I like the idea.” Enrick said. “It may be demeaning to them but at least we have done what they couldn’t done. So, tell me, what’s the plan?”
Hive grinned and began to discuss Enrick on what should he do.
