Last words

"I’m coming with you either you like it or not" Edna shot at him and for a sec, he looked at her bright blue eyes which seem to be asking him “What have I done to deserve this?”.

"I’m sorry!" He apologized but she shot back at him

"You’re sorry? Sure, why won’t you be? Can we go now? Please?"

Rex turned on the ignition and she got in then he drove off. Silence filled the air, making it unbearable for Edna until she scolded him again.

"I can’t believe you’ve gone this far, I thought you’d even care to ask for the hospital’s name" She said dejectedly but Rex kept mute

Throughout the drive, Rex kept mute so as not to make things worse. Finally, they arrived at the hospital. He brought the car to a halt and alighted from it while Edna tailed behind him

"Oh Rex, you were so late. We lost her" A man who seemed to had been the caller said to Rex.

"You mean the lady is dead?" Edna asked him and he nodded. "I can’t believe you did all these Rex. I don’t want to see you anymore. I want you out of my life" She cried out and walked away

"Edna please, just hear me out" He called out to her

"What can come out from the mouth of a murderer? You should have thought about all these before going for it. Just leave me okay! Stay away from me! You're already dead to me" She said as she banged the door almost hitting his face. Those were her last words as she left the hospital

"Hey Rex, it’s a twin; a boy and a girl" James who had called earlier, said.

Rex eye widened and he couldn’t decide either to laugh or cry, he just kept motionless until he finally spoke. "Can I see them?"

"Sure, you’re the father after all" James said as he led the way and he could hear the cries of the babies. He sat on the bed and patted them gently. I don’t know why this happened to me but I’ll face it no matter what happens. I believe it is my fate. James, I would like to take them with me and take care of them myself" Rex concluded

"Sure!" James replied, beaming with smiles.
