Chapter Twenty-Eight: New Perspective

It's been atleast 10 minutes.

I was growing tired in comparison to The Gambler who's barely broke a sweat: christ he hasn't even moved from where he stood. I couldn't figure out what he did but his luck was just to good for me.

'Unfortunately for me, I can't seem to kill you.'

'What do you,' I took a couple breathes, 'What do you mean by that?'

'I've actually tried killing you five times with the joker card but-'

Going to punch him, he grabbed my arm and slammed me on my back.

'-But you seem immune.'

'How are you not exhausted,' I rolled back into my feet, smearing the blood from my lip.

'Simple,' he shuffled his deck, 'I'm a gambling addict,' pulling out a 6 of Hearts he smirked, 'And I also forgot to mention that I don't need to say my bet out loud,' all damage that was seen externally done to him had disappeared.

'Then I guess I'll just have to move faster,' thrusting my arm out at The Gambler, he grabbed it in reaction. To his suprise, I used my katana in my other hand to cut my arm off clean then I sliced at his knees. Cutting deep he feel to his knees and looked at me with crazed eyes.

'ARE YOU FUCKING INSANE!'

Throwing my katana like a spear through his chest, he gripped it as I grabbed my unattached arm. Smoothing it back on to where it belonged, it began to reattach, 'You are not gonna die,' I pulled my katana out and placed my hand against his chest, 'If I don't mess up,' I said coldly.

'No. Sto-'

I shoved my hand into his wound and ripped it out.

With my entire right hand covered in his own blood, he fainted.

Placing my hand back on his wound, I manage to repair his damages, 'Oh! It worked!'

'I'm not done with you,' Lady Sandra shoved her heel onto Diana's chest: she had her pinned on the ice ground.

'Let me go you "villain" or I'll break every single one of your bones,' Diana grasped Lady Sandra's leg.

In response, she grasped Diana's face with her left palm, 'Girl, do you even know what my power is,' she said as she was installing power and fear over her, 'Explosions created by my palms. I snap my fingers to launch a, hard to spot, projectile, but,' she tightened her grip, 'That's to launch it.'

'LET GO OF M-'

Lady Sandra exploded Diana's face, 'Sure,' she backed away from the corpse, 'I'll let go.'

Joining Lady Sandra, I looked at the body, 'Is this what a powered filled society has come to?'

'Has come to? Boy it's been like this, you've just never seen it before.'

'Oh and another thing.'

'Yeah?'

'LANA CAN'T BE YOUR DAUGHTER IF YOUR TWENTY-FIVE!'

'Well I mean....I can't just say she is?'

I sighed, 'Let's interrogate The Gambler.'

Following Lady Sandra out the bunker with Jack and Lily beside me, we entered into the empty casino. In was Anne and T who readied themselves to fight us.

'Zen! Are you ok!?'

I stepped ahead of Lady Sandra, 'Don't worry guys, they're the,' I glanced at them, 'The good guys,' I said doubtful.

'But they killed my friends,' T moved forward.

'Actually-'

Jack threw, now binded, The Gambler on the floor infront if us.

'-He brought himself and Diana back in order to stop us.'

'What,' T was tearing up again, 'But why??'

'You'll never know what I know you ignora-'

Lily kicked him in his stomach, 'Quiet.'

'Anyone see that Lana chick,' I heard a crash from behind us. Everyone turned around and saw Lana coming from behind the counter.

With everyone turning to face the source of the sound, a wild Lana climbed out into view.

'Uh, hello,' she nervously looked away.

'I still don't trust these people Zen. They killed all the heros in New York zone! Sure! The Gambler attacked you but-'

'Anne!'

She shot backwards.

Looking at her, I could see the tears that were racing down her face, 'I know but,' I glanced at Jack and the rest of them, 'Someones wrong with this world and we'll use them to find out the truth.'

Anne grabbed T's arm and they left the building.

I know what Anne was saying was true, but if what Lady Sandra is saying is also true-

'-Hey!'

I turned around to look at Lady Sandra, 'Marry Lana.'

'YOU'RE NOT EVEN HER MOTHER!'

They all giggled in sight of my frustration.

'What now though,' Jack wiped the tear that left him, 'How are we gonna stop the alien threat?'

'We'll go back to New York zone. I have allies there and I need to check up on someone. While doing that we should be able to gather information on this alien threat.'

'Will you marry Lana?'

'Sandra! I agree with Zen! Can you stop!'

I sighed at Lady Sandra's interesting attitude.

It was sometime in January now. Anne and I's adventures in California came to an end after we finally left for New York. As of now, Lady Sandra and the others had set up an safehouse and are digging into government websites and such.

Shifting my weight in the elevator, I put my hands in my pockets of my baggy cargo pants. With a tight hoodie on, my beanie rested comfortably on my head.

Going over to the button, Anne pressed for floor 5 and wrapped her arm around mine. Her sweater was a bland white like her dress, and she wore jeans since she refused to wear anything skin tight.

Exiting the elevator, we turned right and went down the hall before stopping and knocking on the door before us.

Anne released my arm as she began to hide her face with her beanie.

Opening the door, she stood.

'Hey, um, Yui,' I said awkwardly.

'Z-Z-Zen!? What're you doing here?!'

A guy came from behind her and wrapped his arm around her shoulder. 'There an issue babe?'

'No, I don't think so anyways. Can I speak to him, alone?'

'Sure sure,' the man walked away.

'I need your guy's help,' I said.

'No,' Yui glanced back in the apartment, 'We left that life behind to live as a family.'

'And that man?'

'Well you left me!'

'Not what I mean't.'

She started blushing, 'Oh...,' she started twirling her hair, 'He's my boyfriend that I mean't when I went shopping. He's really kind, knows nothing about me having powers and nor does he have any. It's a welcomed distraction.'

'I bet.'

'And you? You went and left. Your mission go smoothly?'

'You could say that.'

'How about you come inside and tell me. Wouldn't want civi's hearing,' Yui held her robe even more tightly now as she led us over to their living room.

With Anne and I sitting on the couch, Yui pulled a chair across us.

'What about the man?'

'Donny won't come back out. He works night shifts so he probably went asleep for later.'

I then went in to go and tell Yui of all the events that had went and conspired when we left this very room.

'You're working with those you vowed to killed!'

'More or less.'

'And now you want my help to possibly fight aliens?'

'Yes.'

'And you don't even know they exist.'

'Excatly.'

'Zen.'

'Mm?'

'Thhe fact you're very self aware of how stupid this sounds, I'll help and see if my mom and Mio will too.'

'Thanks Yui.'
