Forgetful Leon

Me and Dee moves past the kitchen without a sound and gestures towards a statue on the shelf in the living room, and I turn to it. "Press behind it." she said and smiled softly towards me. I slowly feel my fingertips along side the sculpture and felt a bump so I pressed it. The bookcase slowly slid inwards and I turn and look at her, then walk in behind it. It closed behind us and I saw a stairway leading down, and I scratched my arm nervously.

"There's nothing to be afraid of, child. Come." she said and gestured for me to follow her down the stairs, so I did. It was a tight stairway that was spiraling down, low tinted lights flickered on every time we passed one. When it straightened out it stops at a big, red door and I reach for the door handle and opens it. It smelled old and dusty, like no one had been down there for years. I looked around the dark luminated room and then Dee stops in front of an altar.

"This is your legacy, it taught me every thing and It will teach you everything too." she said and when I walked up next to her it was a big old book that laid there. "Not even your mother knows of this place." she continued and I touched the book and I felt my eyes roll back in my skull. I blacked out.

What I then saw was a lot of pictures flashing through my head, to quickly for me to see them well but it was enough for me to believe her. I came to and put my hand on my head. "I feel so dizzy." Is all I could muster to say. She nodded understandingly.

"I understand, it was the same for me at a young age, dear. You need to practice and learn this ancient grimoire, and this basement is well equipped to help you." she said as she floated over to a wall and activated a lever, showing me a lot of ingredients for potions, and spells. Even a cauldron.

I sat down and sighed, and Dee lifted my head softly with her hand. "Look at me, dear. You wont be alone, I will be right here walking you through it all." Dee said and I opened the book and started to read the first pages.

For weeks I was sneaking down into that basement, learning as much as I could and practicing recipes, and Dee was teaching me everything I needed to know and before I knew it I could recite that grimoire like the back of my hand. I walk out of the basement and close the bookshelf after me but before I react Leon walks into the living room. I look at him and smile a little nervously and he furrows his eyebrows and grins. "And here she is, the girl that walks through walls. Here you are appearing from nowhere, all the time. Where are you off to anyway?" he said after his jokes and I laugh slightly and walks away from the bookcase to not draw any suspiciousness to it.

"And what is it with this bookcase your so interested in, huh?" he said walking up to it and stared at the shelfs. I froze and tried to make up a lie on the spot. -"Its starting to collect a lot of dust, you know? And you know how mom is about dirty surfaces..." I said and he shook his head and crossed his arms over his chest. -"Uhuh. That's exactly why, ey?" he said and clearly didn't believe me.

"Leon! Did you clean your room today? Or do you want me to go in and check it?" We heard mom yell from upstairs and I saw how white he turned, and he bolted up the stairs, like his pants was on fire. "whew" I said and took of some sweat from my forehead with my sleeve.

You must wonder, didn't you freak out meeting the ghost of your dead grandma?

Yes, yes I did. I had a huge breakdown in the basement, throwing stuff around and screaming at her, even running from her but after a while I started to accept the fact that she was there, and there to stay. She wanted to help me, and I started to let her.

She appeared next to me and placed her hand on my shoulder, then she softly smiled at me. "You got away, didn't you? It was quite close of getting caught, dear." she said and I shrugged.

"I know, but the crisis is averted. And remember, I can probably test out my memory spell on him, so he wont return and investigate.." I said and she nodded. "Yes, that is a good idea."

I sneak up the stairs and make it towards Leon's room, and I slowly creak up his bedroom door.

Though, the sight I saw will forever be in my mind. I mean picture this guy with headphones, jamming to his music and not cleaning. That's basically summing up what I saw. So I spoke a few Latin words, flicking the potion on him and it must have worked because he just froze as it landed on him, then after that he just shrugged it off and continued. I closed the door slowly but I hear him answering his phone.

"Hey Keiran, sup? Woah, what do you mean? What bookcase? Are you on something? I cant talk nonsense right now I have to clean, okay? hey, that's rude. Fine, goodbye." he said and then i heard the music pumping in his headphones again and I closed the door as silent as I could, then bolted towards the attic.

I pick up my phone and see a missed call from Tiana. I call her back, and she lets me know she's on her way to me, and that she will be crashing at my moms place a while. "Ask your mom, she's probably completely fine with it!" she said and giggled, then hung up on me. I sigh and throw myself back first on the bed.
