Supportive best-friend

Tiana came to our house, the same day she called. I had talked to mom about it and she was okay with having her over for a few days, so we went up the stairs to the attic. I placed her bags on the couch and took out an extra pillow and blanket for her, and then we sat down on the bed and looked at each other.

"So tell me, what have I missed? You don't look to good, you know? Bags under your eyes, stripy dead hair and your giving me the smile you give people you want to leave you be, to me. Tell me, what's wrong?" she said and I sighed and looked at her, going back and forth in my head if i wanted to let this bombshell on her about my life, or if i maybe could make up something.

She saw through it and grabbed my arms, tugging at them. "Don't make up something just to get me to lay off, let me be there for you, like you've always been for me." She pleaded and I slowly nod and smiled, and took up the book from my bag. I placed it in her lap and she looked at it, opening it to see what it was about. When she slowly started to realize she lifted her eyebrows slowly for every page, and then turned to me again.

"So, what does this mean?" she asked and tilted her head slightly as I took a deep breath to tell her.

"So, you remember when I disappeared from the hospital a few days, then you tackled me? Well I didn't tell you everything about that day. I met a guy, who unraveled a lot about my life, that I was a witch, I never knew who my birthmother was, about my grandma and more and more things just piled up you know? That's why I've been so vacant lately.." Tears started to form in my eyes as I didn't dear to look at her. She put her hand over mine and smiled softly towards me. "I knew it was something special about you, I just never figured out what it was. Now I know. We are the same." she said and pulled me into a hug.

"Wait, you are the same? How do you mean?" I blurted out and she gestured for me to calm down. "I'm from a different witch heritage but in a way we are the same." She said and showed me a simple spell I learned when I was in the basement studying. I nodded and showed her one as well, a simple water spell controlling its element without trouble. She smiled wider and tackled me down in the bed, pinning me down and giggling.

"Well, we can have lots of fun, now cant we? There's some spells I've always wanted to practice but you have to be two to perform them. Cant we? Please Kim!" she said and I pushed myself up and sat her down next to me again. "Yes, sure we can. But we need to be careful. There's some things I haven't told the rest in this house and I kind of want it to stay that way.

"There's a trick my grandma showed me, a spell i connect with a key. If i spell it with something from a certain place, and tie the object to the tail of the key and place it into any door we can travel there, like a mirror. Its not as complicated as it sounds but-" I said and she was already on her feet.

-"I know where we can go, let me just find it in my bag." she said and dived her hands through her bag. After a bit she picks up a small flower and placed it in my hand. "This is from the time I spent in the summer house, since its the end of summer I thought we could go there?" She said and was almost bouncing of excitement. I smiled at her and did the smell with some Latin, and tied it the the tail of my door key. I closed the door and placed the key into the lock, and turned it. She heard the click, so the door should have been locked. But I open it and we see the inside of the frame is into the summer house she mentioned, empty.

She grabs her other bag and hurries us through the door, and took the key with her and closed it behind us. I looked around the big wooden cabin and the fireplace was stone cold, so no one had been there for a while. The entire night we sat up and practiced as many spells as we could, she was more of a voodoo witch than me but we were a good match.

We heard a big knock on the door to the cabin and she hushed me, pulling me closer to the floor. "We aren't supposed to have any company." she whispered, on alert.

I whimpered quietly and turn myself even lower, trying to be as quiet as possible. We hear the door being pick locked and heavy steps stepping inside, slowly walking room to room. I take up my phone and text Kieran, asking for help and where we are and turning of my sound on my phone, gesturing for Tiana to do the same. Just as we did we realized its very quiet, a little too quiet.

We are both struck in our back head and black out, and I don't know how long I was out but when I came too, I was sitting up in a chair, tied up and I have a cloth tied around my head covering my mouth tightly. I tried to look around quickly and locates Tiana on the chair in front of me, with her head hanging and her long hair hanged over her face. "Tiana" I tried but it came out all muffled.

I tensed up when I saw two figures walking past her, behind her and then a smaller, more female one walked after them. I recognized her instantly. Rachel.

She looked at me and laughed, gesturing something to the guys, them I've never seen before. But they were massive and frankly scary as hell. She crouched down in front of me and smiled widely to me. "I found out what you did, you nasty little bitch." she said and slapped me across the face and i flinched and groaned because it hurt, now my cheek feel like its burning up.

I turned my eyes to Tiana to see if she had woken up yet and i see Rachel grabbing her hair and pulling it up, and I hear she slowly started to come to.

"An eye for an eye, isn't that fair?" Rachel slowly said, staring me down before I saw something shiny in her hand. Before I could react she slit her throat and threw her head forward, the sounds she made, I just cant explain it. I was bawling my eyes out, watching my best friend dying.

"Please Keiran, please show up." I pleaded in my head, crying. Rachel walked over to me and placed her hand on my chin, lifting my head slowly so I would face her. Then time slowed down as her neck turned quickly to the side, then after that she fell to the floor. And I smelled it, once again.

"Cigarettes, and.. cologne."
