Chapter 18

'Congratulations Miss Brown,your baby in a perfect condition. From the look of things,your previous fainting spells had been as a result of stress and malnutrition. If you keep up with the way you're going. You're definitely going to have a very stressless pregnancy journey. You look radiant by the way'.

Those had been the exact words of the doctor to her when she'd visited the hospital last week. Her baby was no longer in danger and it was all thanks to Daniel.

Looking back now,she was most thankful about the turn out of the events of the past weeks; Her and Daniel's meeting.

She was determined to 'keep up with the way she was going'.

Impulsively her hand went to her stomach and she rubbed it soothingly.

She was going to become a mother.

A mother!.

The prospect of becoming a mother was frightening as well as refreshing.

She wondered the kind of mother she'd make. Hadn't her own mother failed her? Hadn't she chosen the church and society over her own daughter?

She'd be nothing like her mother,she swore.

The shrill ringing of her phone startled her.

She picked it up. It'd be no other person than Daniel.

He'd gotten her the phone and it was only him who called her.

'Hello'. His voice sounded from the other end.

'Hey. How're you doing?'. She replied.

'Uhmmmm....Great. How about yourself? Are you bored without me?'

She could tell he was smiling wherever he was.

'Don't think so highly of yourself. There are many things to keep me busy here'.

'Things like what?'

'Things like a dip in the pool and my favourite movie of you'. She bit on her lower lip.

'See? You miss me'.

She missed him,badly. But she wasn't about to let him in on that.

'You wish'. She rolled her eyes dramatically.

'Don't worry,I won't be out for long. And get yourself ready. I'm taking you out to see a movie premier'.

'That will be awesome. I'll be waiting for you'.

Then he dropped the call and her insides rolled over in anticipation.

That familiar feeling of longing settled in on her stomach once more.

She enjoyed every moment she spent with this man. He'd infact become a part her; One she couldn't do without.

The deep feeling of attachment to him sometimes frightened the life out of her.

She was still uncertain about so many things;Her feelings for him and his feelings for her. She was afraid to get lost in the bliss that being with him presented.

She knew one day she'd eventually have to leave here,leave him.

She wanted to be able to when that time comes.

'What's with that look?' Bryan hit him on the shoulder after he dropped the call.

'What look?' He feigned ignorance.

'Wait,what? I can't believe this'. His friend shook his head in disbelief.

'I don't know what you're talking about'.

'How long has it been?...No need. I know the answer. Three weeks bro,just three weeks and you're already smitten with this woman'. You seem to have forgotten what happened with you and Lisa'. His friend was beside himself with amazement.

His insides knotted with fury.

'Don't you dare bring Lisa into this conversation'. He warned.

'See what I'm saying. You're not even over one woman yet and you're already in love with another. A 'pregnant' another'. He was emphasizing on the word pregnant. '...Besides,you barely even know this woman. She just appeared, remember? And with a baggage of mysteries'.

'You might not understand this but Macy is different. She's unlike any woman I've met. There are lot of  things I don't know about her yet,but I'm sure she's not ready to talk about them more from the fact that these are the things that hurt her than from the fact that she's an evil person. She fires up my blood. Bryan, I'm crazy about her'.

'Listen up man. Have you thought of the fact that you might just be horny? When was the last time you bedded a woman?. It might just be your libido here begging to be satiated. Get under the sheets with a woman in this state of yours and see if you'd still remember her name'.

'It's much more deeper than bedding her,dammit!' He pumped his fist into the center table.

'Calm down bro. I'm just trying to be of help here. There's no need for you to destroy my properties or your knuckles either'.

'You don't understand,Bryan'. He dragged his hand through his hair.

These emotions...They were eating him up alive. What he'd felt for Lisa thinned into nonexistence in comparison with what he felt for her.

He wanted her,in a way that was potent enough to drive a man insane; But it went way deeper than that.

It was unexplainable.

He just knew he wanted to be anywhere she was found. He wanted to share in her pain and her happiness. He wanted to do everything with her.

'Are you sure you're not mistaken about this Daniel?'.

He shook his head.

'And you still don't want to have her checked out?'

'Absolutely not'.

'And you're not horny?'.

'Not everyone makes decisions with their groin Bryan'.

He wanted to laugh at his best friend's foolishness.

If he was going to bed anybody, it'd be Macy.

Macy sighed with contentment. She had had the best time of her life.

Daniel had come home earlier and they'd both gone to a movie premier. It had turned out to be a romance movie with him as the lead male.

She had been unexplainably jealous throughout the movie. It was really laughable for her to feel that way. They weren't even an item.

But the movie had ended quickly enough and she'd been relieved.

'You can stop pouting now that we're out of the Cinema'. Daniel broke into her thoughts.

'I wasn't pouting at any point today'.

'Let's go grab dinner since it'll be too late to make anything when we arrive home'. He said,taking her by the hand and leading her to the car.

It wouldn't be too late to make love. She thought and sighed inwardly at the line of her thoughts.

Her mind was beginning to make up chaotic images lately. Things she had no business thinking and emotions she had no business feeling.

It was beginning to get really frustrating.
