CHAPTER 7

Chase pulled me to my feet and towards the beach. "Let's see if you can still beat me in a swim race. I have been practicing you know."

"Oh! But i am a natural Chase. Your practices won't have any chance against me."

Jess acted as our referee and when she said GO i was like a bullet in the air. The sea was my life. No one could beat me in it. Maybe some professional swimmers but definitely not Chase.

"And i won!" I shouted and made some silly dance that caused him to dunk me under the water. He ran to the beach knowing that in a run i would never be able to catch him.

Sticking my tongue at him, i joined Jess and Luke where they were buying another round of ice cream. "Chocolate for me please." I said to Luke.

We headed back to our parents where Chase was already sitting. I drop down beside him and started eating my ice cream. Leaving his own vanilla flavour, he bent and licked my ice cream. "Chase! You got your own!"

The others burst out laughing at our antics. "The guys are here!" Luke said getting up. I looked in the direction he indicated and indeed there they were. Our best friends. It was as if they formed a part of family.

We were even close to Luke's and Chase's friends. Not to say that Jess has a crush on Nick! Mia, Samantha and Diana rushed to us and Jess and I were found in a tight hug.

On the other side, Luke had Elena spinning around and once he put her down he kissed her making us catcalling. Luke was planning to propose her during our holidays here and we were all on it.

The guys greeted us the way they always did. That was with a hug. Jess was like a tomato when Nick hugged her. It was as if he knew what she thought of him by the way he was smirking.

Guys!

Chase was beside me, ice cream melting in his hand. I decided to do what he did to me and got a taste of his vanilla ice cream. "Hey!" I stuck my tongue at him again.

"Don't do that baby girl!" What was he referring to? Eating his ice cream or something else? He was so close to me that i could feel his breath on my face causing my body to tingle.

"We're going to catch up and get ready." Jess said somewhere and when she pulled me with her, the magic was broken. The last thing i saw before making my way to the beach house was Chase pulling his hair in frustration.

One in Jess room, Mia came towards me, "Spill!"

Huhh..

"Spill what?"

"You and Chase stupid."

"What about me and Chase?"

"You mean nothing happened between you guys?"

"Noooo! Why would something happen between us?" Were they crazy. Chase was my best friend and he definitely did not saw me in another way than that.

"I just though something happened. Because the way he was looking at you. It was as if he was about to kiss you then and there!"

"You are not the only one. I also thought the same thing! The look he was giving you!" Jess said seeming surprised at her brother. But it did not seem that way to me. He was just teasing me the way he always did.

I shrugged and made my way to the bathroom to take a shower. And definitely to overthink what the girls were saying.

When i finished, the girls went to shower one by one. I made my way to the living room where the guys were already sitting. I sat next to Elena and started making small talks with her. She was a really nice girl and was a good match for Luke.

"Hey that was my place!" Chase shouted beside me causing me to glare at him. Everything the girls said forgotten for now. "What are you, five?" i shouted back.

He pulled me from the couch and sat down himself beside Elena. Everyone was enjoying the show as always. Without leaving my arm, he pulled me again so that i was in his lap.

I felt hot and red all over. "Now we both have a place." He said grinning at me. I started wriggling, trying to get rid of his hold on me. Finally tired, i let go and resumed talking to Elena.

I could see him smiling from the corner of my eyes causing me to elbow him in his stomach. "Ouch!" he pretended to get hurt. I swear the guy was made of steel.

He pulled me closer to him and somehow i was in a comfortable position. Leave it to Chase to always care about me even if i was throwing my tantrums. The thought made me smile. "What?" Elena asked.

I felt my face becoming red once again. I just shook my head at her making her smile in return.

"It's already five guys! Go and get ready!" That was Samantha shouting from somewhere. When i saw everyone getting up, i also tried to get up. But Chase firm arms stopped me. I turned around and my eyes met his green ones.

They were so intense that i felt i was drowning in them. I heard him.hitch a breath and immediately he released his hold on me. I got up and went to my room without thinking twice and without looking around.

"What was that?" i asked myself.

Get a grip Kate! Chase has a girlfriend and one that is a complete bitch too. He sees you as his best friend. Nothing more! Why am i thinking all these stupid things about him?

I have feelings for him. I always had. But this kind of intense feeling? Its as if these were triggered whenever he was too close. He was kind of testing my limits! God! Why?

He was not helping things at all! He was always close and always touching me. Not that i am complaining! Above all he is my best friend. So i don't want to lose all these years of friendship because of my stupid increasing feelings for him.
