Day 4 in the desert, a thing that makes me worry today is the fact that I forgot to get my books to read in the desert. Damn it! Damn it! This is too boring. Miwra looks like a brat and that merchant doesn't have any good topic beside how prices of silverwares rise and fall in the kingdoms. Do you two have anything interesting for me to get along with? Welp, I hope this will end soon. At night, we settle a camp in an oasis. Fuels are from dungs of llamas, dinners are dry meat, drinks are just water from that oasis and finally the topic
- Prices of blood silk are rising from town to town huh? Care to explain to me, Mr. Merchant?
- My lady, it is because …
The conversation is kinda boring so I ask for the first night shift alone. Another misfortune is that there is no star for tonight to watch to kill boredom. Thankfully, I remember that I can talk with my cobra.
- My lord, this desert is kinda dangerous. My old friends told me that they do not wander to where the sand hill is. If you see an unusual sand hill, do not approach. They said that they sensed some kind of horror beneath that hill.
- Interesting information. I will remember that. I haven't named you since we first met. Do you want a name?
- It is an honor to get a name from my lord
- Your name shall be Aweng.
- Thank you. I, Aweng , swore loyalty to my only lord.
When the morning comes, I tell the two to be prepared. A horror? I am wondering if it is the incident that people talk about in the bar. They said many people have been disappearing.
- Hey, Kiltan. Should we go to that hill? It seems promising. We can go there to get some view
- I can agree with Miwra. These kinds of hills help us merchants navigate through this long desert.
- My pet told me not to go near any unusual hill, there is a horror beneath that hill.
- My lord, it is fine. That hill is not the hill we were warned against.
- That hill is safe, he said.
We all approach the hill. I can see a good view from here. Miwra looks happy and Mr. ladykiller merchant there just stands there and eats some nuts.
- That hill there can lead to our destination. That same height and direction. I am grateful to be escorted by you two. Maybe I can give you something after this as an extra payment.
- Let's waste no time, we better move now, Kiltan.
I have no choice but to follow it.
After a long ride, suddenly…
- ROOOOOOOAAAAAAAARRRRRRR
-What is that!!!!?
-Miwra, I haven't known it either
-Are you two able to fight this?
- YES !!!!!! - We both shouted
The creature has five mouths with three heads, looks like something of a goat and it is five times bigger than us all. This must be it, an eldritch. A creature that is twisted in mentally and physically. They have one purpose, they consume and grow.
Miwra shouts very loudly. That "five-mouth" seems to be dazed. She charges head on and tries to restrain it with her hands. I can see the creature is faking it. It has an intelligence. It knows. The "five-mouth" opens one mouth and tries to eat Miwra. Miwra realizes and retreats in mid air with her strong kick.
- My apology, I am a failure of a servant. I was sleeping and forgetting my duty. That is the horror we had sensed.
- It is fine, Aweng. This one should be easy
- Kiltan, stop fooling around and get to the fight, would you? This one is not an ordinary eldritch. I cannot restrain this.
-It also respects us as a fighter or it is just being careful.
I have to pull out my pole. Facing this creature should be quick.
Fwips
What was that?
It can manipulate its horns heh?
I should have brought a spear instead of this pole. Miwra should be fine, she can dodge it not to mention, she blocks the hit.
I have the most venomous cobra with me. I think the venom should kill any eldritch quickly.
- Miwra, can you distract it while I am going for its neck to poison it?
- Don't underestimate the best vanguard of our mercenary group.
I move swiftly as Miwra distracts the "five-mouth". It is baited. This is your end now, foul beast
Aweng bites its neck but something is wrong. It looks at us. We are in trouble. Aweng retreats to my sleeve. Does it have high poison resistance?
Or poison immunity?
Miwra is down already? It knocked Miwra with its horns. It seems this is one on one battle.
I move swiftly back and forth. I suddenly notice. The horns are living too as I try to hit its blind spot from the back.
Snap !!!
Something breaks? One of its horns just breaks. I realize another thing. My pole moves like a true serpent. It may look lifeless but my hands make the move for it. Swirling and turning. So it seems like I have another snake. Well, well. The table has turned. Here comes my rage for hurting my comrade, you foul beast.
