"This might be as well my final moment before defeating that damn lich heh?"
Kuek!Kuek!Kuek!
"Hmph, the tribes are still at war. I...must...lead...my...people..."
Ram!
"This is not over yet, Jawik. Even if I am dead, I will haunt you in your dream, in your head and in your eternal rest. Mark my word, you coward."
Slam!
****
Urgh. My head. It feels like I have been dead three times.
Where am I?
Is this the Great Desert?
It is so bright but yet, I don't feel hot.
I don't see anything here but sand.
Strange, where are my hands? Where are my feet? Where are my…? I don't have wings. Why did I just look for wings?
Perhaps, it is just another weird instinct.
Where to go?
****
I feel I am moving but yet, I don't feel exhausted. How long is it? Hours?
Normally, the thirst should come right about now. This is strange.
In this desert, there should be some oases.
****
Water here seems clear. Looking at myself, I am just an orb?
Wisdom, wisdom, wisdom. Tell me your guidance.
If I was born in this desert, I should be able to somehow make a do with sand.
****
First day, nothing much
Second day, still not much of a progress
Third day, If I focus, I can do something.
Fourth day, something.
****
By the time I know how to shapeshift into a human form that I know, I lost track of time.
But
I am alone in this desert.
Maybe I should try to remember some spells that I used before.
There is a problem. I don't feel any mana flow like before.
I need to somehow cast a spell to get rid of this boredom before I want to sleep because of this boredom.
Doesn't that magic come from mana?
Maybe there is another way.
Orc believes that magic comes from faith and belief or simply special cases. There are few orcs who can use magic. Shamans are those respected ones in a tribe. The more people believe in him, the more powerful he is. If things go that way, it would make no sense about how some orcish chieftains who have no magic power at all. Afterall, faith is thing and having aptitude for it is another.
Drakes are those magical beings who can breathe fire but yet they can only control the fire for the majority. Some drakes can master other elements and magic and can also cast some spells. For most part, mana is just not what they have been taught. But rather simply, luck. There are two types of drakes. Ground drakes who can't fly but have much more power in their muscles are considered to be the frontliner or village guards. They were being mistreated as inferior in the society but later on, they are well respected guards who can fight more than ten humans at once. Winged drakes can fly and breathe fire but they are just normal drakes in society. Some rise up as higher command if they performed well in battles or duels.
Human control mana in order to cast a spell but it takes years to master a fireball for trick shows. For combat, it takes experience and effort to do so. At that time, I witnessed a big meteor strike from a magician. That was the most powerful spell which humans can pull off. Afterward, he collapsed due to his exhaustion.
Perhaps, mana comes from the living. The more livings around the more mana one might get. Undead draws mana very efficiently to the point that there is no visible living around, they are still able to cast a blizzard ten times in a row.
So in conclusion to cast magic from what I just remembered now, I must gain energy to release the energy. This can give me a revolution in magic if I was still a sage right now. They might give me a title or a theorem named after me, Demisis.
Wait, Demisis is not the only name that I know. There are two other names to be credited. Wianki and Onreluntar. Why do I have three names?
Or perhaps, I died three times at the same time?
Perhaps, the theorem would be named after in a single name, Dewion's energy flow.
Such brilliantness.
And so, I choose Dewion as my name.
Anyway, I got lost in my own mind once again. This is a desert right?
Maybe, I should get moving around a bit to see.
****
Well damn it.
I don't want to move anymore. This is just an absurd amount of sand to walk. Maybe, I should make a place to rest here.
That oasis over there looks promising but I don't need that. Maybe it will be useful for someone else.
I raise a house by packing sand into sandstones and then I cast a spell to melt them just a bit to let them be stable. I got energy from desert winds. In the distance, I see humanoids.
A group of them band together. Covered in cloth and desperate to get closer to the oasis heh?
The closer they are to my eyes, the clearer that they are taller than normal human beings and flimsy.
"Human? Would you please help us? We are in need of a shelter right now." One of them carries another
"I don't mind you. You can get in here"
"You just built this house all alone? Where is your food? Where is the water? Who are you?"
as that person lays the weakened one and they huddle around the weak.
"I would say I may not be a human. I just take this form to get moving easily. But you are in need of help, I helped all I can."
"Sand devils?" They glare at me
"You may call me that but I died three times before"
"But still, we are in debt to you. This girl is our priestess. She is the only one who can lead us now" as he shows his face.
Knife ears, freak, branchlings, etc. Those are insulting names toward elves. They are unnaturally beautiful by human standards, they are freaky in an orc's eyes and to drakes, they are just weaker branches than human. Usually, elves are banished elsewhere with the reasons either inelegant, meat eater or usage of necromancy. In this case, their left ears are chipped away a bit as a brand of meat eaters. Elves like those can't go to mountains where dwarves live, flatland as they might get caught and enslaved by humans or cold regions where orcs live. The left is just desert oases. Many have fallen due to insufficient of something. Perhaps, lack of food is the problem.
"So, what is your next plan? I am currently going to wander around aimlessly to find someone to interact or perhaps, I should say that I need companionship to kill the boredom"
"We don't know, from one oasis to another is our current plan. We can't stay at one oasis from year to year. We need something to eat you know" One of them tilt down his head
"Something that is edible? I should say that weird cactus over there is edible," I point at the weird cactus with pink fruit ", I once encountered it when we were desperate for food while in the wild"
"Anything else?" their eyes shine with hopes
"Maybe you should get some grapes from the human settlement to make alcohol for treating the wounded and celebrating occasionally. Have you tried to cut down a palm to eat their white inside? Some are edible"
"We mostly eat fruits of those trees we know but we haven't eaten those kinds like you just said. Just who are you?"
"Let's say I know these kinds of food through my past life knowledge as an orc. We travel a lot and we are risk takers to eat those kinds of things to survive. That what makes us more freely than elves"
"Thank you for your knowledge. We are in debt to you again. Tell us your name"
"Dewion. And I will help you in my abilities"
Well. Not my kinds from any of my previous lives but I am sure that I will not be alone. After all, saving such lives like these is just a feeling that I can't describe. It is not love. But rather an instinct of leading people to better future
